1 | Generational curses | Bible general Archive 1 | believer57 | 33910
It is found in Deuteronomy 5:9 "Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,". This was God's warning to the children, (and us), the consequences of violating His law, (specifically "Thou shalt have no other gods before me"). It involves children being cursed by the sins of their fathers and grandfathers. This is something that has to be recognized and dealt with. God is saying that if His law is not kept, then those must "hate him". Usually, if there is sin in someone's life that is unresolved, it has manifested as "idolatory". (i.e. money, sex, humanism, pride). Many sins are the result of "having another god" in your life before Him. Finally, if this was present in your family lineage, then this iniquity may well be visited upon you. Sin in your life can result in it being visited upon your children and grandchildren.(Examples: alcoholism, abusive behavior).A good way to examine is to ask yourself, "Why do I act like that? Why is this sickness, depression, anger, in my life? Look at your ancestors, then go to Him. He will remove it!Jeremiah 31:34-"And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord; for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." |

2 | Question concerning prayer. | Bible general Archive 1 | believer57 | 33916
Matthew 6:6-13, (Sermon on the Mount), Jesus tells us where and how to pray. This is most comforting, especially to those that are uncomfortable with prayer. Be alone, take the phone off the hook, turn off tv and pray to your heavenly Father! The Lord's Prayer is beautiful, and sometimes you can pray this prayer, but it is to be used as a "template". Go into your closet and talk to Him! Yes, He knows already, but He desires that you come to Him with your prayers! God Bless You! Write me back, if I can be of some help..
3 | HOW COULD JESUS BE A DESCENDANT OF DAVID | Bible general Archive 1 | believer57 | 34004
Romans 1:3,4 "Concerning his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;" And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead". God placed his Son in the line of David "according to the flesh" as a sign of royalty to the Jews. Joseph was a descendant of David, but was not actually the father of Christ, as we know. This lineage is in Matthew 1.

wow...a cultist among us....Do I sense "Way International"? say it ain't so..Hey cultist, John 1:14? unbelievable..."to be carnal minded is death"....That looks like something straight out of Weirwille's satanic non-sense..go somewhere else...Just a couple for you, since I don't waste time with goats..In the beginning, God, (elohym-PLURAL). Where does it say "sense"? In your cult handbook? I have an ex-friend who is a "wayer", so bring it on.. I need the excercise..That sounds just like some of his satanic non-sense!By the way, Mr. Cultist, why does the ot use elohym and Jehovah to refer to God? HMMM..."Let us make man in our image.." you gonna tell me that that is an "old English" phrase referring to a singular? Already heard it, try again..Don't even get me started on that stuff. I'll type until I have worn out these keys. When I confront my ex-friend with that stuff, he just looks down at the ground. Give it up...He who hath not the Son, hath NOT eternal life..This means ALL of Him, not a "sense". Unbelievable..You guys amaze me, but are great excercise..Like my pastor told me, every now and then, go find a "unitarian" to argue with..Bring it on, I might just save you!!!Oh, I know, Hebrews 1:2 mistranslation, right? Please, try it, and I'll show you that it is perfect! Wanna get me started on False Prophets? Bring it on...I did not mean to get tacky, but I had problems with the Way International before, and am just a bit touchy when I hear people talking about my blessed Lord and Saviour like that..Question. How can God send something that did not already exist?. Oh, last one, I promise, "I WILL send the Comforter..." Sound like Joel 2:28? I am the First and the Last! Homework assignment, (its not in your cult handbook), who said that? (HInt: Isaiah 44:6, couldn't resist). You false prophets are great! I'll be up all night reading about my ETERNAL Lord and Saviour, the mighty Counselor, the almighty God, Jesus Christ! And what was Thomas thinking when, after touching His scars, said, "My Lord and MY GOD!!!", (emphasis mine, reserved for goats). Want more? Let me know...I look forward to it... Like Jimmy Durante once said, I gotta million of 'em!" God Bless...
5 | Did Satan know God's plan for salvation | Bible general Archive 1 | believer57 | 34474
Read the 5 great "I will's" of Satan in Isaiah 14:12-14. V's 15-19, tell us of his fate for placing his pride above that of the Father. Satan knew, and continues to know, that he is a defeated foe. God bless...believer57
6 | Did Satan know God's plan for salvation | Bible general Archive 1 | believer57 | 34551
Barry, I fully believe that Satan knows that he is a defeated foe! Remember Matt. 8:29, when the "devils" asked Jesus, "..art thou come hither to torment us before THE TIME?". They, as Satan does, know that The Son was sent to save us. God's plan of salvation was presented first in the OT, (passage from Egypt, the Passover, the Tabernacle, Daniel's friends in the furnace, Daniel in the lion's den, story of Joseph ). Further, as you well know, Satan knows the Scriptures backwards and forwards. He knows that God will not allow his people to perish in eternal hell, if they will choose Him. Satan knows that God wants to save us, and that is why he does everything in his "limited" power to condemn us. The "I wills" of Satan demonstrate his plan to ruin our salvation. Remember when Satan said, in his heart, "I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north"? Satan is warning us that he will be sitting next to the churches, and the saints! Why? To take from the flock. He knows that Christ is our Shepherd, and he will do anything he can to take us from Him! He knows God's plan. He knows he is defeated! When Christ arose, he trembled with fear! I believe that when our precious Lamb was on the cross, that Satan, in his own self-deception, thought he had won. But, He is arisen! And that old serpent the Devil, is defeated! I love the story of the man in the tombs. Satan, big and bad, so he thinks, begging Christ not to torment him! Yes sir, he knows...Holler back, if I can help... God Bless....believer57
7 | Gen. 3:24 | Bible general Archive 1 | believer57 | 35734
Burnette, The Garden of Eden will never be found. It is a teaching regarding the presence of God in our lives. If you will recall, God's first commandment to Adam was to "Dress and Keep" the garden.[Gen.2:15]; "And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and keep it". The garden did actually exist at one time, but it is not important to us now if we find it, or some archeological remnant. The garden represents the Kingdom of God, which is the presence of God in our lives. We are to dress and tend to it. We are to obey the Word of God, and you will "stay" in the garden. If not, you probably know what happened...God Bless...believer57
8 | so, you're saying that they go to hell? | Bible general Archive 1 | believer57 | 37888
Dear "Unitarian", 1 John 5:7; "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one". I know, mistranslation, added later, etc., etc. 2 Peter 2:1,2;,"But there were false prophets also among you, even as there SHALL BE false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even DENYING the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be EVIL SPOKEN OF". Stop reading the encyclopedia, and read the Bible for yourself.. God Bless...believer57 |

9 | TRINITY | Bible general Archive 1 | believer57 | 49580
Yes, I do have a problem with unitarian cults, I have seen first hand several times what they, accompanied with the devil, can do to families. Also, it always amazes me how people will continue to buy into a religion(Ex:JWs, way international, mormonism, etc...) or theology that views Christ in a way that is more so similar to the "religion" of the people that high jacked and flew airplanes into our twin towers and then danced in the streets over it, than it is with Christianity. So yes, as I said earlier, I do have a problem with these people. But sad to say, if you don't(have a problem with these people), then YOU are the one that has a "real problem..." Yes, everytime its says "Jesus said.." The quotations of Jesus are to you my friend. He was God incarnate in the flesh, and his Word is for you!John 14:18 "I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you". That was originally to his Disciples, but..thats for you too!
12 | Does faith require maintenance? | NT general Archive 1 | believer57 | 35293
Brother Zach, I will attempt to help you with one part of your question, regarding does faith require maintenance on our part, as believers. Absolutely. Romans 10:17, "So then, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God". Faith comes,(and grows, 1 Peter 2:2), by the "word of God". This is, quite obviously, your Bible. Daily, disciplined Bible STUDY, (not just reading), is essential for growing in Christ. Attending church, (where the Word is taught and adhered to), prayer, and fellowship with likeminded believers, are all essential to the "maintenance" of your faith. Genesis 2:15, "And the Lord God took the man, and put him in the garden of Eden to DRESS IT and KEEP IT". The garden is typology of the presence of God in our lives, (the kingdom of God). God is telling us here that we are to "dress" and "keep" his presence in our lives. This is work. If we do not tend to a garden, what happens? If we do, what happens? So it is with God in our lives. It is our most precious gift, and we are absolutely to "maintain" it. Finally, remember Jesus' parable of the sower of seeds? Mark 4:3-20. This is a great parable of what happens to people in different circumstances after they have heard the Gospel. In order to keep your faith alive and growing, it must be received, and maintained. It can be taken away, and it is difficult to get back. Make it the centerpiece of your life! Make Jesus Christ the centerpiece! Schedule time every day for Bible study and prayer. We schedule time for everybody else, why not our Lord and Saviour? Make time for Him, He has made it for you....Holler if I can help...God Bless You...believer57
13 | Doesn't God hear us always? | Gen 1:1 | believer57 | 36602
Lifechanger, Couple of more: Isaiah 1:15, "And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.". Psalm 34:15, "The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.". James 4:3, "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.". You might do a word study, with a good concordance, with the words, "prayer", "hear", "incline", and "ear". There are many...God Bless..believer57 |

14 | New Age Movement new? | Gen 3:5 | believer57 | 34007
The "New Age Movement" is nothing "new", nor is it Biblical. It is yet another example of a Satanic cult, based upon a lie. Based upon somebody deceiving somebody about what the Word of God says, (like Satan originally did to Eve). If you hear somebody questioning Foundational Doctrine, based, supposedly, upon scripture, go to the Lord in prayer and ask for guidance. Satan's only, but powerful, weapon is the LIE. And it is clear from Gen. 2:17, "..thou shalt not eat.." that God's Word is clear and concise. What part of that command did Eve not understand? There was not any, "unless", or "but", or "if"! Thou shalt not! She listened to Satan interpret God's Word and look what happened. This happens when people know what his Word says, but do not want to receive it! They will search, and usually find, someone to make it say what they really wish it said! False Prophets are among us, and being part of the "un-holy trinity", they will lie to you about his Word!
15 | This is an example of a "theophany". | Josh 5:15 | believer57 | 34006
One of my most beloved passages in the Bible. Joshua, preparing for battle against Jericho, with 40,000 mighty men of war, v.13.."And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him. Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?" Joshua "lifted up his eyes" before going into a terrible battle and beheld none other than the Son of God! He had come, as the "captain of the Host" to reassure and lead Joshua into the conquest of Jericho! Ever have a tough Day? Then look up! He will come to you, too!
16 | This is an example of a "theophany". | Josh 5:15 | believer57 | 34181
Makarios, Thank you for the follow up. The pre-existence of Christ, I believe, is the cornerstone to our faith. When the Holy Spirit revealed Him to me through the Word, the OT literally came alive to me! My son calls me "theo" because I search for Christ so much in the OT! You may, or may not, realize how many of our brothers and sisters do not know this! It is essential to our relationship with HIm and understanding Him! I don't know if you saw, but I was searching around the site, (I am new to it), and saw some notes on the Trinity. I saw one from an obvious "unitarian", and my response was a little hot! I do not understand why they are so afraid of our blessed Trinity! I have some opinions, we can discuss those some day if you like. My referenced son was briefly involved in the "way international", and this is when I went to the Lord and recommitted my life to Him. He then began to show me His Son in the OT, and the Holy Spirit as well, and it has changed my life forever! My son has come to the truth as well! I believe these so called "unitarians" are afraid of the Truth! TheY preach "a Christ which we do not preach" and are descbribed perfectly in the Word in 2 Peter, as well as other places, (false prophets). It is nothing more than a cult. They deny Christ, and we know what He said about that. They hinder, or actually blaspheme the Holy Spirit, and we know what He said about that, as well. Anyway, thanks for the reply. Holler back if I can do anything for you! God Bless You..Believer57 |

Makarios, Not to "beat it to death", but one last point for you. Especially, if you run in to one of these "unitarians". I always direct them to Romans 1:25; "Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever." They believe that Jesus was created in the manger, therefore a "creature". That's one they usually just look down at the ground, and can't say anything. We are not to worship creatures, (anything that is created). I believe that they, at least some of them, are aware of this scripture, and in fact, do not worship our Lord and Saviour! They do not like to admit it though...God Bless...believer57 |

18 | explain please | Prov 18:19 | believer57 | 35213
JMa, I believe that this passage, like all passages, is not ambiguous, but very clear. This is a warning of the results of being offensive towards a "brother". Offending someone creates a gulf which is very difficult to cross. Creating an offensive atmosphere with our brothers and sisters makes it that much more difficult to reach them in their time of need. Peter tells us not to exchange .."railing for railing..", (1 Peter 3:9). This makes communication, help, reaching, very difficult...God Bless..believer57
19 | Being baptized | Matt 3:11 | believer57 | 34556
Dear Alice, Great question! I will attempt to shed some light on it for you. Water baptism is representative of being washed clean from sin. It was first presented to us when the children of Israel passed through the Red Sea. They went into the water with sin, (Pharaoh's army), pursuing them. When they came out, their "sin" was washed away! It is a public declaration of your being washed clean! In Matthew 3:11, John the baptist tells us that "I indeed baptize you with water unto REPENTANCE: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear, he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire". Fire represents the warmth of the love that He has for you! John tells us that Jesus Christ, as the Lord and Saviour of your life, will baptize, (fill), you with the Holy Ghost. This was, as you may well know, first demonstrated at the "day of Pentecost", in Acts:2. Jesus promised us, in John 14:16, 26, that he would send us the Holy Ghost, to comfort, and guide us. Accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour allows Him to do this. Water baptism is a public display of your repentance and acceptance of Him as your Lord and Saviour. Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the promise that Christ made to us, that He would not leave us alone! John 14:18, "I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you." That is why He told his disciples that it is "expedient" that He go away, (John 16:7), "..for if I go not away, the Comforter, (Holy Ghost), will not come to you, but if I depart, I WILL SEND HIM TO YOU." How do you know if you have received the Holy Spirit? You will no longer desire to sin. You will desire to read the Bible, to pray more. You will think of Him always. There have been books written on the Holy Spirit, it is a big subject. Suffice to say, you will know when He comes..Go, and be baptized, my sister..Baptized in water, and with the Holy Spirit...Accept Him as your Lord and Saviour. When you do, the angels in heaven will rejoice!! He has prevailed to open the book, and there will be written the name of "Alice"...He will come to you.....God Bless...Holler, if I can help....believer57
20 | Teaching Messiahship on the cross | Matt 27:46 | believer57 | 34008
In short, His cry from the cross, (quoting Psalm 22), was in response to his feeling separated from his Father. When Christ was on the cross, He took upon Him all sin in the world,(2 Cor.5:21). God cannot be in the presence of sin. The Priest in the tabernacle had to be clean before entering into the holy of holies, or else he would have died. Sin is separation from God. At that moment, God turned away from Him and He cried out to Him! And, as is every word from his mouth, Jesus was ministering unto you and I! If you feel separated from God, cry out to Him! Why have you forsaken me? He will hear, and come to you..
