1 | Jews breaking the 10 Comandments? | Not Specified | Tony M | 32662
In the OT, the Jews, go into the Promised Land, murder, kill, thousands of men, women, children. Take the land , crops, vineyards, homes, towns, etc., of those living there. This is not long after God had given the Ten Comandments, telling them not to murder, steal, covet, etc. I believe they were right in doing this, because they were obeying God's orders, but does anybody else see the contradictions here? I realize that God used the Jewish people to punish these idolaters and sinful people(Gentiles living in the Promise Land), but I just wondered if anybody has a comment or explanation. |

2 | Life Application Study Bible any good? | Bible general Archive 1 | Tony M | 31319
Hi Richard, I stumbled upon the Life Application Study Bible at Sam's Club several years ago(picked it up and couldn't put it down, figured I should buy it). I love it. It is my main bible. I read it almost every day. Commentary tells of differing opinions on many subjects. As everybody on this forum knows, there are many interpretations for nearly every verse. the commentary shares more than just one, I like that. I wished that it didn't skip some verses in the commentary, that would be the biggest negative in my view.(I have several other study bibles that I then refer to). There are many Charts, Maps, Profiles, a Dictionary/Concordance. In other words, I highly recommend the LASB. Tony |

3 | What happened w/Judas? | Gen 1:1 | Tony M | 17254
My study bible says that the best explanation of this is that apparently the limb Judas hanged himself on broke, and the resulting fall split open his body.
4 | NKJ vs NASD and NIV? | Gen 12:19 | Tony M | 40338
Gen 12:19, New King James version says "Why did you say, 'She is my sister?' I might have taken her as my wife." The NASB and the NIV leaves out the word 'might'. BIG difference in the two. Any comments?? |

6 | Jews breaking the 10 Comandments? | Ex 23:23 | Tony M | 32932
Thanks for responding Searcher56, I said in my original question that I knew they were responding to Gods commands, therefore I think they did what they were suppose to do. BUT.... the fact is they invaded, killed and took over these peoples country. The Canninites(?) were there because the Hebrews voluntarily went to Egypt many years earlier. Over 10 years ago Iraq tried to do the same thing to Kuwait(?). The whole world was in an uproar about it, and ran them back home.(yes, I know that God did not command them to do it). I am not anti Jewish or anything of the sort, It just looks like they broke about 1/2 of the 10 Commandments. The OT is full of God commanded punishments to many peoples. I guess I'll just have to fall back on the fact that 'God's plan is perfect'! |

7 | Continuing search why 3 days in earth? | Matthew | Tony M | 93930
Please excuse me for jumping in here, I'm usually just a reader. But, I too, am a literalist. I don't believe we should base our beliefs on one or two verses. The Bible says in many places that Hell/Hades was made for the unbelievers. I just can't believe that Jesus died and went to Hell. Tony
8 | Knocked out by holy spirit | Matt 16:6 | Tony M | 90672
Jesus shed his blood for my HEALING? Don't recall reading that any Bible.
9 | sin or no sin | Rom 5:13 | Tony M | 104025
Romans 5:13 [To be sure] sin was in the world before ever the Law was given, but sin is not charged to men's account where there is no law [to transgress]. Does this verse apply to those in olden times that never had access to the bible(american natives, aborigines, African tribes, etc). I think it does, I would like to hear some other opinions. |

10 | Accountability | Rom 5:13 | Tony M | 104158
EdB or anybody else: do you think the gentiles were only accountable for what their consciences told them was wrong? I know Paul says that he did not know what coveting was, until the Law. So any coveting he did before he read the law, he would not be held accountable for?
11 | Accountability | Rom 5:13 | Tony M | 104267
EdB, I think your third paragraph is the best and clearest description of sin that I have seen. Thanks. I'm going to remember this one for future use, with your permission of course!
12 | Here's what Jesus said before he died. | 1 Pet 3:19 | Tony M | 27085
Read Luke 23:43 "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise." This sounds like Jesus went to paradise, not to hell. Tony |
