The latest statistics show that there are over 20000 churches in existance in the world. Jesus prayed for His one church and there was only one apostolic church. 4 | what do baptism mean/ | Bible general Archive 1 | Todd N | 40752
Dear Patricia, Thats a great question and one that is often by so many "Churches". The word is from the greek word, "Baptizo". It simply means immersion, to completly cover. In Mark 16:15-16, Matt. 28:19-20 our Lord gave the Great Commision saying, beleive in Him and to be baptised. In Acts 2:38 in response to Peter's first sermon, where he asserted correctly that they had killed the Christ, they said, what shall we do. At that point they obviously believed in Jesus, but therewas something left. He told them to repent and be Baptized. Baptism is a complete immersion, going under the water and coming uo out of it. A good example is the Ethiopian Eunuch in Acts 8:38, where they went down into the water. You've heard no doubt that baptism is something you can do but don't need to. Or it's a outward sign of an inward grace. Don't let anyone tell you that, because it's straight from the devil, a totally false and corrupt teaching. The Lord told us simply to do it, and thats all we need to know. I hope it's something you will be or have done because it is definitley part of Gods plan of salvation. Please get back to me if this didn't make sence to you.

The second death is simply the eternal punishment, the separation from God for an eternity. An eternal death is the second death after your pysical death. We need to Baptized into his body(Mark 16:15-16) and be faithful to him so we can stand before him unblameable.
