1 | whats baptism of repentence? | Bible general Archive 1 | TRU4GOD | 43027
John baptized with water as an outward expression of a person's repentance. We do still do that today when a person is saved.
2 | Is it ok to question God after a tragety | Bible general Archive 1 | TRU4GOD | 43028
Yes. As you grow in God and develop a relationship with Him, it would be only right to ask. You don't ask arrogantly and you don't ask in doubt or anger. Think of a parent/child relationship. How would you respond if your child came up to you demanding answers without respecting authority and the wisdom of their parents. Well the same way with God. Ask believing He is God, all powerful, all knowing, the Great I am. There must be a respect in anything you talk to God about. Come as child seeking for answers. We can't tell God how to answer us, but we sure can inquire of the Lord. He knows what you need when you ask and believe that He loves you and is concerned about the things are you going through.
3 | ? is the difference of soul and spirit | NT general Archive 1 | TRU4GOD | 43029
You are a spirit (like God), you possess a soul (mind, will and emotions) and you live in a body.
4 | To heaven immediately aft death orwait? | NT general Archive 1 | TRU4GOD | 43031
Yes. The bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. |

5 | How could the Bible be true? | NT general Archive 1 | TRU4GOD | 43032
Matthew 27 37Above his head they placed the written charge against him:THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS. Mark 15 26The written notice of the charge against him read THE KING OF THE JEWS. Luke 23 38There was a written notice above him, which read THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 19Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read:JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS. They all sound the same to me. |

There he found some disciples 2)and asked them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" They answered, "No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit." 3)So Paul asked, "Then what baptism did you receive?" "John's baptism," they replied. 4)Paul said, "John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus." 5)On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 6)When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 7 There were about twelve men in all. |

7 | husband wants to leave marriage | Gen 1:1 | TRU4GOD | 42965
I believe prayer is the answer to petition God for reconciliation in the marriage. As a believer according to God's word, you have power to speak God's word concerning marriage and know that it is God's will. Seek godly counsel, like your Pastors to help you through this time. You can't force anyone against their will, but ask your husband if he is willing to give it a try. Depending if your husband is saved or not, in 1 Corin 7:15 "But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace." I BELIEVE DIVORCE SHOULD NOT BE A PART OF A CHRISTIANS VOCABULARY BECAUSE IT IS CONTRARY TO GOD'S WORD unless due to adultery. Matthew 5:32 "But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery." Even is such cases I believe that reconciliation through forgiveness can heal a marriage. Pray, pray, pray and continue in the faith of God's word, He will comfort you and strengthen you. God will order your steps and honor His word to deliver your husband. Obviously his heart is hardened, pray that God will give him a heart of flesh, that truth will be revealed in his life and that he will come back to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Remember, God will not override a person self-will, but He is obligated according to His word to do all that can and will be done to get that person to change. I hope this helps. God bless. |

8 | CAN YOU REMARRY THE SAME SPOUSE | Deut 24:4 | TRU4GOD | 42963
1 Corinthians 7 10 But to the married I give instructions, not I, but the Lord, that the wife should not leave her husband 11 (but if she does leave, she must remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband should not divorce his wife. ------------------------------------------------- I can't help but wonder why some of the responses are only coming from the Old Testament. We no longer live under the law, but under grace through the faith of Jesus Christ. Galatians 5:4 4 If you seek to be justified and declared righteous and to be given a right standing with God through the Law, you are brought to nothing and so separated (severed) from Christ. You have fallen away from grace (from God's gracious favor and unmerited blessing). |
||||||
9 | CAN YOU REMARRY THE SAME SPOUSE | Deut 24:4 | TRU4GOD | 43038
I CAN SEE NOW HOW MY APPROACH WOULD BE ASSUMED AS DOING AWAY WITH THE LAW. I KNOW THAT JESUS CAME TO FULFILL THE LAW NOT DO AWAY WITH IT. MY RESPONSE STEMMED MORE FROM DIFFERENES IN THE COVENANT (OLD TEST. VS. NEW TEST). WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO A WOMAN CAUGHT IN ADULTERY IN THE OLD TESTAMENT VERSUS WHAT WOULD HAPPEN NOW IN THE NEW TESTAMENT? THE PUNISHMENTS ARE DIFFERENT. THE LAW STILL SAYS THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY.
10 | CAN YOU REMARRY THE SAME SPOUSE | Deut 24:4 | TRU4GOD | 43045
MAYBE I AM NOT READING THE INITAL QUESTION CORRECTLY, BUT WHO SAID EITHER OF THEM MARRIED SOMEONE ELSE? DOES THE DEUT. SCRIPTURE APPLY IF NEITHER ONE OF THEM MARRIED ANYONE ELSE, BUT WANTS TO REMARRY EACH OTHER? WHAT ABOUT YOUR VIEW ON 1 Corinthians 7:10 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. 11)But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife. |

11 | Does God want us to prosper | Deut 28:1 | TRU4GOD | 43391
It's not our money. We are not possessors of anything, just stewards. He said He gives us power to get wealth so that His covenant may be established as He promised our fathers (Deut 8:18). Let's be honest, there is a fine line, but it takes money to establish and build God's kingdom here on earth. You have TV programs carrying the gospel (money), you have 3rd world countries that need our financial help (money), you need money for personal necessities to live, shelter, college, missionaries, your local church, etc. God even knew there was a need for money. It's not for our personal gain, but to help maintain his work on this earth so that people can be reached. And God does want us to prosper, prosperity is not just money, you prosper in your health, you can prosper in the knowledge of God, victory is prospering.
12 | Does God want us to prosper | Deut 28:1 | TRU4GOD | 43408
Never once did I come against spiritual blessings which you mentioned above. If I am not mistaken you noted the word "physical blessings", so my word to you focused on what I would think physical blessings would mean. Yes I named health and prosperity only as mere examples of what a physical blessing could be. I guess I should have asked you what you meant by "physical blessing". Ephesians 1:17 "I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better." Truly sir, no matter what our differences may be, you are my brother in Christ and I love you in the Lord. Sorry about the husband issue (smile)! |

13 | What is Joy? | Ps 16:11 | TRU4GOD | 43026
Happiness is based upon your external surroundings. Joy comes from within. The joy of the Lord is your strength. Joy is there when circumstances around you look dim. Joy comes from trusting the Lord and His word to supply your every need. It stems from the love of God and the peace of God that passes all understanding. Joy is not allowing outside forces to determine your attitude towards the promises of God.

15 | The Ordination of Women | Joel 2:28 | TRU4GOD | 43011
This topic is really controversial from the standpoint of 1 Corinthians 14:34 As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. The next verse is a cross ref of 1 Corin. 14:34. 1 Timothy 2:11 A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. The Scriptures nowhere state that women should not preach. But Paul told the women at that particular time to keep silent. 1 Cor. 14:33 reads, “God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.” These women must have been out of God’s order and making confusion. So Paul commanded them to keep silent that the confusion might be stopped. The men also were making some confusion, and Paul told them to keep silent in the church when there was no one to interpret (see 1 Cor. 14:28). In 1 Tim. 2:12, Paul says, “I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, . . . for Adam was first formed, then Eve.” To my mind he was here reproving those women who were usurping authority or ruling over their husbands and others, which is not consistent with the Spirit of Christ. I was told that the custom back then was that the men would sit on one side of the sanctuary and the women the other. The women would try and ask their husbands questions across the church which caused a disruption. (This is no defense since it is not documented by facts; just a comment.) The second scripture clarifies the first that they were talking in church. My understanding it has nothing to do with preaching the gospel Eph 4:11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers. Deborah was a prophet. You have to be called in order to be a prophet. Joel 2:28 And afterward I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy.. Well the only other conviction I have is that the Co-Pastor of our church is a woman and a powerful woman of God at that. She has spoken things in my life that have come to pass. And the flow of her messages from God bears witness with my spirit. Her husband is Pastor. They have a team ministry. I know God’s presence is in our church and where Jesus is, that is where I will be. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus” (Gal. 3:28). |

16 | How can God let us go through pain? | John 11:35 | TRU4GOD | 43016
God has promises for those that believe and healing is certainly one of them. On the other hand, God also gave us a free will. He doesn't make us believe, there is a choice. Even when we choose to believe, are faith in His Word concerning healing is tested. The word of God says that the trying of our faith worketh patience. Our job as a believer is to believe no matter what comes our way. You can't believe today and tomorrow say, well maybe it's not for me, because then you have canceled out your faith and the word cannot work. The word works, God is real and true and His word will not return unto Him void (Isaiah 55:11). Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). I don’t know if your friend is saved or not or if the parents are saved, but it is so much easier I think to believe in healing when you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and trust has been established, therefore, you can believe in someone you trust easier than believing in a stranger. You can always pray that they come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ and be saved and through salvation their faith will line up with the Word of God regarding healing. This principle works for not only healing, but any promise God has given.
17 | Speaking in tongues? | Acts 2:1 | TRU4GOD | 42970
That is certainly correct. The scripture below notes that you can be saved and have not yet received the Holy Spirit. Matthew 3:11 "I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire." Acts 2:38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off; for all whom the Lord our God will call." Acts 19:1 While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2 and asked them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" They answered, "No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit." 3 So Paul asked, "Then what baptism did you receive?" "John's baptism," they replied. 4 Paul said, "John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus." 5 On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 7 There were about twelve men in all. The only thing that will hinder you from receiving one of God's many gifts is sin, ignorance, doubt and unbelief. Pray that God will give you peace concerning His promise. What gift have you ever denied? It is a powerful tool to build up your spirit, to war against the trials of your faith, the spirit prays for things are minds have not yet conceived. Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. MOST OF ALL, the devil doesn't know a thing. I call it covering all bases. |

18 | Speaking in tongues? | Acts 2:1 | TRU4GOD | 43043
AGAIN, I AM LEARNING TO BE MORE DETAILED IN MY ANSWERS. I UNDERSTAND WHEN YOU GET SAVED THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES INTO YOUR LIFE. I WAS SPEAKING ABOUT ACTS 19:1 "While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2)and asked them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" IF YOU SEE THAT SCRIPTURE DIFFERNTLY, THEN WHAT INTERPRETATION DO YOU GET FROM IT. HE EVEN CALLED THEM DISCIPLES. WHEN JESUS WAS BAPTIZED AND THE DOVE (REPRESENTING THE HOLY SPIRIT) CAME UPON HIM, ARE YOU TELLING ME HE WASN'T SAVED BEFORE THEN. I AM SURE YOU ARE NOT. Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: MAYBE YOU ARE ABLE TO EXPLAIN WHAT I AM TRYING TO GET ACROSS BETTER, PLEASE I AM OPEN FOR SUGGESTIONS. |

19 | How do we love those in sin | Rom 5:8 | TRU4GOD | 43018
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Matthew 19:19 honor your father and mother, and 'love your neighbor as yourself.'[ 19:19 Lev. 19:18] " You have to love your sister with the agape love of Jesus Christ (unconditional love). God loved you when you were in sin and He still forgives you when you fall short of His glory, so He commands us to do the same, but you can only do that through the Holy Spirit and His power. Ask God to help you to forgive and love her. The bible says, "by love and kindness have I drawn thee (Jeremiah 31:3)" You can't be a witness and be judgmental. Your sister will feel the resentment and in no way is that drawing her closer to God. |
