2 | WHAT IS THE "BREAD" THAT IS REFERENCE IN | Bible general Archive 4 | TCfromCoventry | 195992
OOOOOOOOPPPS! I've only just joined, I'm still getting used to the website!!! Now I've seen the whole thread, I agree with DocTrinsograce; it can surely refer to both! "Your will be done on Earth..." is very clear, pragmatic and concerning our everyday life, as impacted by the supernatural (..as it is in Heaven). Jesus quoted Isaiah "Man shall not live on bread A L O N E"; confirming that we need physical bread, "..but by every word.." - our spiritual food. I've heard that Matt.6:11 means "every legitimate thing we could need for our whole well-being". Nourished by the Fellowship and Word of God, yes; but in Western society, a car is now pretty much essential! (I'm not saying that's good or bad, it just IS). So if we have no car, it's legitimate to ask (Abba) Daddy for a car. He caused us to be born into this generation and society. I'll leave it there - I'm starting to ramble!!
3 | Pitt Minion format? | Bible general Archive 4 | TCfromCoventry | 195993
My local Wesley Owen Manager managed to discover this for us (many thanks to Richard Morris!) I'll paste his answer here: "Here’s the answer from another store manager who has a Pitt Minion NASB Why Pitt Minion? The Pitt Building (in Cambridge), built to house the (Cambridge University) Press and named after William Pitt, Prime Minister of Britain and Member Parliament for Cambridge University, lent the name to series of Pitt Press publications from the nineteenth century onwards. Minion is a traditional term for a type size approximately 7 point, giving text of about 10-11 lines to the inch.” So, very small type, as used and originated at Cambridge University! Hope this isn't too late to help with your decision! Interesting anyway!! |

5 | Why did God put us on earth with satin? | Genesis | TCfromCoventry | 195981
I hope someone with better knowledge can correct me if I'm wrong! As i unerstand it, it cannot be said with any certainty whether satan's fall was before or after Creation. In either case, satan's presence was a test for Adam and Eve's obedience (note: God gave His command to Adam; Eve would only have heard it from him; it is unlikely to have been "genetically" passed to Eve when God took the rib from Adam). God wants us to love Him (Hosea6:6).Obedience should be a fruit of love. Love can only be given freely - it cannot be forced (1 Cor.13:5). Hence, either a) God needed to know if Adam and Eve would love Him by being obedient (in this case God is deliberately limiting Himself, by denying Himself foreknowledge of His creation - God often does this in respect of the free-will He gave us), or b) God wanted ADAM and EVE to discover for themselves if they loved Him enough to be obedient. Think of all the different possible results! 1) Eve could have said "I DON'T believe you, serpent! GOD, there's a serpent here trying to trick me!!". Adam's response? "Well done, Eve!!" 2)Eve could have given in to temptation but Adam could have said "Eve! What have you done?! Have you forgotten what I told you about that tree??!" 3)Eve could have said "I'll have to ask my husband about this!" - in which case Adam could have either resisted temptation, or HE could have taken the fruit and said "Seem's alright to me!!". There could have been other variations too. The important thing is that GOD knew there will be a GOOD outcome, whatever happened - just different routes to that good outcome. Option 1) is the only one where a New Creation would not be needed (because sin failed to enter the world). Any of the others, sin would have entered the world, redemption required, then a New Creation for the redeemed to live in the restoration of eternal life. By the way, your 'kid in the candy store' would only be correct if sin was ALREADY present - before the temptation was presented, Adam and Eve had no trouble leaving That Tree alone. Do we genetically inherit sin? Have you noticed how you don't need to teach kids to be naughty??! |

6 | Who did Cain marry to have children? | Genesis | TCfromCoventry | 195983
Answers in Genesis (www.answersingenesis.org) explains it in terms of genetic mutation/degradation. Adam and Eve were created perfect, therefore had perfect genetic information in their DNA. From the Fall (which affected the whole of Creation) onwards, mutation (DNA degradation) started to set in, but for many generations, was so slight that brothers marrying sisters would not have caused genetic defects. By the time of Moses, genetic degradation had increased to a level that the law about close intermarraige had to be brought in. God is very practical isn't He?! By the way, this means that the Human Genome Project has mapped a genome with many generations of degradation in it!! What a waste of time! |

7 | Why did God put us on earth with satin? | Genesis | TCfromCoventry | 196017
Hi Val! I'm not sure where you see the anger in my response. I was just trying to say that There were many possible outcomes of the Garden of Eden situation, God was prepared for any of them. Shouldn't we bear in mind that God's ways are higher than our ways (Is 55:9)? That currently we see through a glass darkly (1Cor13:12)? We are talking about supernatural things here; even in Christ, we have no direct relationship with or control over the supernatural. By the way, I think the date of the original question is irrelevant!! It sparked off a fascinating discussion, still on-going! I love discussing God's Word, learning different understandings. I will watch my 'Anger' meter, though; my life has been through some bad situations the last 3 - 4 years, which I'm still getting over. I'm having to re-learn how to love and trust God, and believe that He has my best interests in His control. |

That's OK! It's all good! And I like to recall that satan took 1/3 of the angels with him - that means 2/3 are still with God and US! They outnumber satans 2 to 1! Hallelujah!!
10 | Why did God put us on earth with satin? | Genesis | TCfromCoventry | 196024
Jesus is the Way through whom we are saved, whose blood has cleansed us from all sin, and whose resurrection proves His defeat of satan and all the principalities and powers. But even though those principalities and powers are under our feet, they're still trying to beat us up and deceive us. why else would we need to put on the full armour of God (Eph6,12-17)? I'm glad to have some angels on my side! God made them as messengers, servants and warriors. But there's probably another blog about that!! that OK with you? ;¬)
11 | Why did God put us on earth with satin? | Genesis | TCfromCoventry | 196042
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. The picture basically is that at Creation, God gave Adam authority over the whole world; when he sinned, he handed that authority to satan. So to those who are not born-again through faith in Jesus Christ, satan is still lord of this world (although they don't know it). Some say that the spiritual realm where they operate is the "second heaven": 2 Corinthians 12:2-4 (King James Version) 2I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. [it is generally thought that Paul is speaking about himself here. If 'paradise' is the third heaven, and the sky we can see is the first heaven, other spirits operate in the second heaven] There is a heirachy of power - powers, principalities, rulers of the darkness etc. Well, these powers (some say they are the angels which fell with satan from Heaven) are all under satan, and like him, their mission is to kill steal and destroy: John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. If you ARE born-again through faith in Jesus Christ, satan HATES that with a passion- you become a target. Jesus' death and resurrection brought them to NOTHING: Colossians 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. ... and even though they are defeated, they want to destroy what they can before their time is brought to an end. Doesn't this match up with experience? Jesus told us to expect it, but that in Him, we are the victors: John 16:33 (King James Version) 33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. 1 John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. ... or as a great preacher I know says "I've read the last page - AND WE WIN!!!" |

12 | Why did God put us on earth with satin? | Genesis | TCfromCoventry | 196066
The 'last page' is Revelation 21 and 22. New Heaven; new Earth; new Jerusalem! Free water from the well of life, our rightful inheritance...lit by the radiance of God... seeing Jesus the Son with God the Father face to face...reigning for ever... healing of the nations... kings bringing their treasure... gates of pearl... walls of diamond. Of course God wins, he get the family, the community, the BRIDE He desires; those of us who are in Christ ARE that Bride. I repeat WE WIN!!!
13 | Why did God put us on earth with satin? | Genesis | TCfromCoventry | 196067
Please see my other answer about Revelation 21 and 22. I think it may have been Dave Duell of Faith Ministries International. It's the sort of thing he'd say! Like my favourite quote: "Get out there and act like you know what you're doing!!" A great man of God, man of faith, a great preacher... and he makes you laugh til you think your ribs'll need divine healing!!
14 | How does one win grace? | Genesis | TCfromCoventry | 196097
Sorry, Olive, I don't understand your question.
15 | How does one win grace? | Genesis | TCfromCoventry | 196114
I hope you don't want to play a game of "I can be more pedantic than you can!". We win is just an exuberant expression of the Victory that Jesus Christ won through His death and Resurrection, that we share (BECAUSE OF GRACE, that He wants to share it with us, not because we deserve it or earn it, He chose us), and as I said previously 'we' refers to Christ getting His bride, God getting His family and all of us living together in a new Creation with no evil or tears. That is put into a scenario of imagine you were reading a 'whodunit'. Normally the fun would be to read page by page until all is revealed on the last page. but if you can't bear the suspense, you can 'cheat' and look at the last page, which technically spoils the enjoyment of the rest of the book. The Bible isn't a 'whodunit', so it doesn't spoil anything to look at the last page; in fact, it's very encouraging (that's what the Book of Revelation is for, to show us that all the increasing mayhem we're having to live through is worth it in the end). It shows that God's plan WILL succeed, that there will be a glorious victorious ending - and WE are PART OF IT! Now I hope that settles it.

Good morning, Wild Olive Shoot! This is the day that the Lord has made; we shall rejoice, and be glad in it! Your answer brings joy and relief. My life is going through many changes just now, and nitpicking is the last thing I'm interested in either! Maybe you know that God's Word tells us not to as well? John6:43 and 1Tim6:4 are quite clear. By the way, while I know quite a lot of what's IN the Bible, I'm very shakey about where! The only reason I can quote the verses above are by checking it out on Biblegateway.com first! So have a wonderful day, rest assured I love you as a brother (sister? I had the cheek to address you as 'Olive' in a previous answer!). And if we don't meet in 'this lifetime' I look forward to meeting you 'in the next' - as they say! |

Yes; if my response seemed a little harsh, it's because I take it very seriously, too, and living in a country where even most of the churches don't. I hope my latest answer put your mind at rest. I'm a pussy cat really, even if I do roar like a lion sometimes!
19 | how much water allowed the ark to float? | Gen 1:1 | TCfromCoventry | 196459
Hi RIC and GINGERBREAD! The best scenario (see for example AnswersInGenesis.com) is that at the time of the flood Mt. Everest DIDN'T EXIST! The major mountain ranges formed by tectonic plate movements as the fountains of the deep opened - the Atlantic opened up, the Alps, Himalayas, Rockies and Andies all got shoved up DURING the Flood. The land was much flatter before this happened, so far less water required. If the earth was leveled out today, there is enough water in the oceans to cover to a depth of 1.5 KM!
