Check out Ephesians 6:10-17 and 2 Thessolonians 3:1-3. These verses explain how to withstand attacks. Colossians 1:13 tells us why we need not fear him. John 14:30-31 tells us if we obey God, this neutralizes Satan. Satan's goals is to control people, but Jesus has all power over Satan and his demons Mark 5:10. His overthrow will come but in future Acts 5:3 Jesus teaches in Matthew 10:28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One (God) who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Look also at Hebrews 10: 19-39 Hope this helps, pray daily, read God's word, keep the love of Jesus in your heart. Satan may be able to hurt us physically, but he can never snatch our souls away from Jesus. |

3 | Why the spotlight on gays? | Prov 6:16 | Sgt_Z_Squad | 142419
I encourage everyone to read this book; "Homosexuality and The Politics of Truth" by Dr. Jeffrey Satinover (ISBN# 0-8010-5625-X). He provides a well written discussion on a physical, psychological and spiritual point of view in regards to this behavior. He chronicles how the American Psychiatric Association (APA) in 1971 removed this illness from its list; even though evidence was overwhelmingly showing otherwise. Eyeopening for all believers who should reach out and share that healing and deliverance waits those caught in all sexual sin. "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of God." 1 Corinthians 6:11 Thank you Lord Jesus! |

4 | One religion as good as another? | John 14:6 | Sgt_Z_Squad | 3056
Hank- I guess if you are looking to be religious, then Christianity would be as good as any other. But I want to be follower of Jesus Christ. Through Jesus, we are guaranteed: 1.) Forgiveness of our sins; 2.) The gift of an eternal spiritual life; and 3.) The promise of Jesus being our intercessor before God our Father. And not because we are good people or do alot of good things in our lives. Because we can't even come close to earning this privilege. We have all broken God's laws, whether it is lying on a school quiz, or committing a criminal act. But God loves us so much, he provided our salvation through His Son, Jesus. All we need do is confess that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved. See Romans 10:9. You won't find a better deal nor the peace and joy this promise brings! Take a look at the other religions and see for yourself. With any of the other religions, you will not find a promise nor are they based on the events of one person through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ (God in the flesh.) If you took these events away, or removed Jesus from our lives, then Christianity as a religion would lose it meaning. The other religions are not based on these events and thus survive to be what ever you would like them to be. And there lies the problem. But they won't give you the gift of eternal life. In John 14:6 - Jesus makes it extremely clear, "I am the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Seek the truth! Our God in Heaven encourages it. I pray that your heart and mind are opened. Good Luck in your journey! |

5 | What happens to Non-Christians? | John 14:6 | Sgt_Z_Squad | 3057
Take a look at Revelations 20:11-15. The apostle John writes, "Anyone not written in the book of life will be thrown into the lake of fire with Satan and his angels." (Verse 15) Also check out Matthew 25:31-46 Jesus says, "...Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life." (Verse 46) There are a bunch of other references - check out the words "Judgement, judge, judging, salvation, saved" in a concordance. Good Luck! |

6 | WHAT DOES JESUS MEAN BY THIS VERSE | John 14:6 | Sgt_Z_Squad | 3059
"The Way" - the path or direction. He is meaning the way through himself as "God in the Flesh." Those who believe in Him have and accepted him as their Lord and Savior have found "the way." Jesus *said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." John 14:6 |

7 | Salvation in other religions? | John 14:6 | Sgt_Z_Squad | 3061
But God is a just God also. Sometimes the story of how loving he is does get over emphasized in this politically correct society. No one likes the bad news. He has given us free will to accept or deny his gift. What a loving God! I know God is loving, because he has told us through his "Word" the way to salvation. He is also patient. Take a look at this scriputre. The apostle Peter writes: "The Lord is not slow in keeping promises, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9 |

8 | How about faithful Jews? | John 14:6 | Sgt_Z_Squad | 3090
Charis- Check out Matthew 10. Jesus sends out his disciples to the Jews first. Jesus says, "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near..' (Verses 5-7) Then Jesus later instructs his disciples in this chapter..'If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town. I tell you the truth, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgement than for that town...' (Verse 14-15) Ultimately, what this means for us, is that woe unto you if you have heard the message of the Gospel and rejected it. It will be worse for those persons than the two cities that fell under God's judgement. Regarding the old covenant; Jesus came to fulfill the old covenant. Check out Hebrew 8:8-12 for a comparison of between the old and new covenant. Jesus' new covenant can be read in Matthew 26:28 "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." Or Luke 22:20 "In the same way, after the supper he took the cup saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.'" Check out 1 Corinthians 11:25 also. The new covenant was Jesus' sacrifice on the cross for our sins and our forgiveness. But you must believe and confess..Romans 10:9 |

10 | So...covenant to Abraham nullified? | John 14:6 | Sgt_Z_Squad | 3145
Charis- I am not sure how you construed the fulfillment of the old covenant through Jesus as God reneging on his promise. Did you look at the scripture verses I listed? In Hebrews 8:8 Paul writes: "But God found fault with the people and said: 'The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel." I guess I would fine this similar to driving to work each day. You have gone a particular route for years. You approach that fork in the road and go your usual way to work. One day you come to the fork and on your usual route you find signs posted "DANGER, BRIDGE OUT." The other route you are not familiar with has signs posted, "THIS WAY TO WORK." Now, you have two choices. Disregard the warning and go your usual way facing the consequences for not following the warning; or change your habit (belief) and go the NEW route. Does that help? God has not reneged on his promise to the Jewish nation; but the way to salvation with the new covenant is through Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah. Jesus teaches: "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the orad that leads to life, and only a few find it." Matthew 7:13-14. Sounds like the bridge is out to me. With love for Jesus. |

12 | What happens to Non-Christians? | John 14:6 | Sgt_Z_Squad | 3151
Truthseeker- Check out Revelations 20:11-15 The apostle John writes; Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. In the "Bible Knowledge Commentary" Walvoord and Zuck ISBN # 0-88207-812-7 page 982; the authors discuss: "All final judgements deal with works, whether the works of Christians rewarded at the judgement seat of Christ or works of the unsaved which are in view here. The question of who is saved is determined not in heaven but in life on earth. What is revealed here is the confirmation of one's destiny by means of God's written records. Some view the book of life as the record of all the living and that when the unsaved die their names are deleted from it. A better view is that the book is the record of those who are saved whose names were "written in the book of life from the creation of the world." Regardless of which view is taken, at this time only the saved are in the book of life." Page 982 I hope that helps. |

15 | How is comunion only symbolic? | 1 Cor 11:29 | Sgt_Z_Squad | 3226
I think you have to look at the entire paragraph for its proper context. Paul is writing about participating in the Lord's supper in an unworthy manner(having the wrong attitude). In verse 28; Paul writes: "A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgement on himself(Verse 29). What I have been taught, is that we should confess our sins before God, right any wrongs we have commmitted to others; before participating in the Lord's supper. |

dschaertel- I quoted Paul writing to the Corinthians. The verses are not my words; but God's ("recognizing the body of the Lord.") If you are having trouble with this scripture, I would encourage you to talk to the One who inspired it. God in Heaven. Pray to him that he can open your heart and mind. May your Easter Observance go well my friend. Jesus lives! |
