7 | How do these accounts reconcile? | Bible general Archive 4 | RC Scrolls | 204182
I have done a study on this subject of the ressurection yrs ago, This isnt what actually happened but it shows how the gospels can be reconciled. Again this is probably not what happened but you should be able to see atleast that there is not a contradiction, just our learning. This is my rensition of what happend at the ressurection. NoteThis may or maynot be how it happened but shows how they can be reconsiled, they are indeed synoptic. For instance, who discovered Jesus' tomb was empty? According to Matthew it was Mary and Mary Magdalene (Matthew 28:1). According to Mark it was Mary, Mary Magdalene and Salome (Mark 16:1). According to Luke it was Mary, Mary Magdalene, Joanna and another woman. There seems no problem to me here.Remember we have different witnesses, From Different accounts. All Four writers are Listening to What these witnesses are telling them about Christs Resurrection. Luke 24:10. You and I could watch the same car accident and have a totaly Different perspective. And remember your going off what you consider to be correct, that Mark was the first Gospel writer and the rest followed. I however do not refer to this method for most accounts of the teachings. They always very to some degree. Just as if they Heard ( Teachings ) them from different experienced views themselves. Any amount of reasoning would tell you that if you tell four people one Story, they will all have truth but will very in their accounts. Remember when we were young we would sit in a circle with Ten people. A sentance is started and given to one hearer. by the time it gets to the whole ten the story has changed some have additions and some have left things out. But if you write down all of the specifics you can conclude what the truth is. This is what I will do for you !!!. Mary the Mother of Jesus and the other Mary Come and see the Tomb Closed, Matthew 28: 1 states it was closed. This was earlier in the morning perhaps just before Daylight. They had remembered that Jesus said He would raise Himself on the third day. Now they are mourning all the more at His death. They wait a while, another Witnesse shows up (Salome,) when they return and Find the Tomb opened, suddenly there was an earth quake they are astonished . Luke 24:2 states it was open. Lukes account Has Salome not mentioned ( other Woman) who perhaps arrives because she just caught wind of where the Two Marys and Joanna are going and she marvels at the fact of the earthquake, She arrives to see an open tomb aswell. They Find a man standing there its the Angel who Just opened the tomb by rolling the stone out of the way, He can very easily be Identified as a Man as most Angels in the Bible are. They meaning (all the women) as Luke 24:10, It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles. All these women told the Apostles refers to more than we have names for. They enter into the tomb as Luke states and inside the Tomb they see another Two angels. Just As Luke 24: 4 States. After leaving the Tomb they didnt tell anyone else about what they had seen until they got to the Diciples. Which they were comanded to Tell them of the Resurrection by the First angel. Matt 28: 7 What did the women find at the tomb site? According to Matthew they found an angel (Matthew 28:2). According to Mark, they found a man (Mark 16:6). According to Luke, they found two men (Luke 24:4). Were these men, man or angel(s) inside or outside the tomb? Outside according to Matthew 28:2, Matt dosent talk about two angels and Dosent talk about two men.. Inside according to Mark 16:5 and Luke 24:3-4 So no problem here. What did the women do after they found out Jesus had risen? Matthew and Luke say they rushed to tell Jesus' disciples (Matthew 28:8 and Luke 24:9). Mark 16:8 states they kept the news to themselves. Well Quenten? I have answered all your questions the best full account is found in Luke. Thank you. Love in Christ Jesus RC |

14 | Keep the Sabbath Holy? | Bible general Archive 3 | RC Scrolls | 190900
Hi Searcher its been awhile, Please use the search box for these Questions have already been dealt with at lenght, Here is one very good post from Kalos, Are the Sabbath laws binding on Christians today? . . . We believe the Old Testament regulations governing Sabbath observances are ceremonial, not moral, aspects of the law. As such, they are no longer in force, but have passed away along with the sacrificial system, the Levitical priesthood, and all other aspects of Moses' law that prefigured Christ. . . . Here are the reasons we hold this view. . . . In Colossians 2:16-17, Paul explicitly refers to the Sabbath as a shadow of Christ, which is no longer binding since the substance (Christ) has come. It is quite clear in those verses that the weekly Sabbath is in view. The phrase "a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day" refers to the annual, monthly, and weekly holy days of the Jewish calendar (cf. 1 Chronicles 23:31; 2 Chronicles 2:4; 31:3; Ezekiel 45:17; Hosea 2:11). If Paul were referring to special ceremonial dates of rest in that passage, why would he have used the word "Sabbath?" He had already mentioned the ceremonial dates when he spoke of festivals and new moons. . . . The Sabbath was the sign to Israel of the Mosaic Covenant (Exodus 31:16-17; Ezekiel 20:12; Nehemiah 9:14). Since we are now under the New Covenant (Hebrews 8), we are no longer required to observe the sign of the Mosaic Covenant. . . . The New Testament never commands Christians to observe the Sabbath. . . . In our only glimpse of an early church worship service in the New Testament, the church met on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7). . . . Nowhere in the Old Testament are the Gentile nations commanded to observe the Sabbath or condemned for failing to do so. That is certainly strange if Sabbath observance were meant to be an eternal moral principle. . . . There is no evidence in the Bible of anyone keeping the Sabbath before the time of Moses, nor are there any commands in the Bible to keep the Sabbath before the giving of the law at Mt. Sinai. . . . When the Apostles met at the Jerusalem council (Acts 15), they did not impose Sabbath keeping on the Gentile believers. . . . The apostle Paul warned the Gentiles about many different sins in his epistles, but breaking the Sabbath was never one of them. . . . In Galatians 4:10-11, Paul rebukes the Galatians for thinking God expected them to observe special days (including the Sabbath). . . . In Romans 14:5, Paul forbids those who observe the Sabbath (these were no doubt Jewish believers) to condemn those who do not (Gentile believers). . . . The early church fathers, from Ignatius to Augustine, taught that the Old Testament Sabbath had been abolished and that the first day of the week (Sunday) was the day when Christians should meet for worship (contrary to the claim of many seventh-day sabbatarians who claim that Sunday worship was not instituted until the fourth century). . . . Sunday has not replaced Saturday as the Sabbath. Rather the Lord's Day is a time when believers gather to commemorate His resurrection, which occurred on the first day of the week. Every day to the believer is one of Sabbath rest, since we have ceased from our spiritual labor and are resting in the salvation of the Lord (Hebrews 4:9-11). . . . So while we still follow the pattern of designating one day of the week a day for the Lord's people to gather in worship, we do not refer to this as "the Sabbath." And I would like to add that what would we be resting from when our total rest comes in the Lord on Resurrection Day, the Lords Day. Love in Christ Jesus RC |

15 | Keep the Sabbath Holy? | Bible general Archive 3 | RC Scrolls | 190901
The Sabbath Was Gods rest from Creation. Since then God has been trying to redeem man. Finally since the Law didnt work Christs Day of Resurrection is a new Day. Now we rest in His Redemptive work. Sunday we worship in Christs Redemption Day. The Law was a Shadow and Christ fulfills all, There are no more types or shadows we have Christ. There are two ages in the Bible Mosaic age and the Age to come which we are now in. Since Judaisim was ended with the destruction of their place of Sacrifice ie Temple 70 A.D. Then all has been fulfilled. We have a much better rest, We rest in Christs performing all the Law for us, and we can rest everyday in Christ not just one day. Amen. Love in Christ Jesus RC |

16 | Keep the Sabbath Holy? | Bible general Archive 3 | RC Scrolls | 190967
The Law never saved anybody, They were saved by their Faith. The Law was a driver (choolmaster)but under it no one man had a realationship with God, unless they had Faith. Thats why Christ has come for if by the Law no man would have been saved. Heb 7:19 (KJV) 19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God. Heb 10:1 (KJV) 1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. The works of the Law dosent save. We now have a new much better covenant. Judaism was totally ended By God Himself no more sacrifices for sins. Thats why in Math 24 He said they would see the Temple throwen down in their generation, and it was Destroyed in 70 AD. Some may believe that Judaism still exists but it isnt The Religeon of God so what is it. This is not an anti Semetic remark its fact. Just as some call themselves Chrisians 1/3 of 7th Dayers Jehovahs witnesses Mormons etc. Owe Your statement about Christ performing the laws, Where does that come from. It still is not correct either, He stated on the Cross it is finished. Amen Love in Christ Jesus RC |
