What am I doing wrong? As a fairly new Christian, I have enjoyed reading on this forum almost daily. I will say I have learned a lot BUT as I personally read through my Bible at home (daily), I find it very rewarding to LISTEN to God's word. I always pray and ask God for his guidance for ME to understand his word while I'm reading and I have found that although I may not totally understand what the chapter was all about after reading it, I do leave each day with the thoughts of that particular chapter that I had just read that morning playing over and over in my mind all through out the day and most of the time the meaning of that chapter or chapters comes to me like a full movie screen in front of my eyes. I know I'm not being too clear here but it's the best way I can type what I'm thinking. My question I guess is this.......why do we want to go into great study or detail of each verse and chapter of the Bible and study it??? Why can't we just read the Bible and let God do the rest, meaning, let the Holy Spirit fill our own minds with the understanding of what we are meant to know??? I sometimes feel totally overwhelmed with people's knowledge of the meaning of the Bible as they understand it. I think we as humans, sometimes make life more difficult than it needs to be by picking apart each and every verse and try in our human minds to interpret everything that we have read. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy reading on here but everytime I come up with a question on a particular part of the Bible, I just pray about it and leave it as that. Am I wrong to be so arrogant or do I really NEED to study the word in depth, like most of yous on here have and continue to do so? Sincerely, Mouse |

How do we know God is speaking to us through the Holy Spirit for sure and it's not our own ideas. For instance, right now I'm applying for 2 full-time jobs. One is perfect as far as hours go the other is not perfect for me as to the hours. Yet I feel the one that isn't perfect for me is the one I should only apply to. Why because I only found out about the not perfect job by accident. I had to swerve to miss hitting a buck acouple of weeks ago. Last Saturday I was introduced to a woman and during our conversations I mentioned that I swerved to miss hitting the buck in front of such and such a place and she said she worked at that place. One thing led to another and she can definetly get me a full-time job at this place as she has the authority to do so. I do believe God places people in our lives at the right opportune time and believe I should apply for this job only because of it. I've been praying and praying on what to do next in my life to help out with my financial circumstances and constantly asking God to show me waht to do next in my life according to His will. Do you all have some comments as to how we can be sure this is a push from the Holy Spirit to apply for this job. I do believe it is the Holy Spirit guiding me but all the same, as a new Christian, I'm still learning and maybe my thinking is all wrong. Mouse |

Hi Doc. Thank you very much for your reply and warm welcome and suggestions. "When you love someone, you hang on their every word, you can't wait to learn more about them!" That's a GREAT way of putting it! This is exactly how I feel. I feel I can't get enough of God's word and want to know all I can humanly know but I do find the Bible confusing to read. But will admitt that the more I read the Bible the more it seems to make sense. I can read the same thing over and over and a month later, go back read it again and get a different personal interpretation of what I just read than the interpretation I got from that same passage a month ago. Does this make sense??? I do always pray and ask God for guidance to help me understand his word before I start reading and always feel so comforted after I have finished reading. I was told by my worship leader that I would be great at leading an Alpha Course in our church as I have never felt uneasy speaking in public and usually speak each Sunday in my church. What do you think? Anyone here done the Alpha Course? I have done the Bible study on "The Stranger on the Road To Emmaus" by John R. Cross and wonder if the Alpha course is similar? Thanks Again, Mouse |

Thanks Cheri!!! I was beginning to wonder how I would ever begin to become as knowledgeable as some are on this forum when it comes to knowing the Bible. I have been very blessed and have recieved with out a doubt miracles in my life but unfortunately until I became a Christian, I did not know about miracles or all the other many blessed things that have happened to me to get me to where I am today. I'm so overwhelmed with God's grace that I have decided to write a book about my salvation and I have now written 200 plus pages and continue to keep finding more to write about. I do not know if I will ever get this book published or not but when it is complete, I will get great satisfaction knowing that it could possibly save one person's life in its unpublished form. As the book when completed(soon), will be sent to many in prison and those living on the streets in North Carolina.(long story), Now I can't get enough of God's word and I feel like I need to know all I can, and this is coming from someone who never read books or had the desire to read anything before. My Motto...........I'm on FIRE for GOD!!! Mouse |

11 | Saying "AMEN"...outloud? | Deut 27:20 | 2007 mouse | 187635
"AMEN" Personally, I love saying "Amen" outloud. To me it means that what has just been said, is the truth and I am agreeing. I have been told by a certain person that by my saying "Amen" outloud in church is wrong because it is distracting and I am using it as an ordinary word with no thought behind it. I did try to explain that it makes me feel good to say it when something that is preached to us, sets me on fire for God and I know it is the truth because it is from the Bible. Make sense? Am I wrong to say "AMEN" aloud or does it mean the "END" of something and NOT the meaning I think it is. Mouse |

13 | Can we hear GOD? | Prov 3:6 | 2007 mouse | 196337
Thanks for your reply Doc!!! One thing I must also ask is this: As a child of God walking as closely as I can with Him, do you think the Holy Spirit causes us to take action to do something we really have no desire to do?? For instance again...LOL.....Our Student Minister at The Presbyterian Church I belong to has a two point charge, meaning she preaches at two churches every Sunday. I feel so led by the Holy Spirit in my life right now, that she as a student Minister has told me that when I speak to our congregation she can sense the Holy Spirit working through me. I gave many lectures at various churches about my mission trip to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina and when I spoke at my last lecture in a church I never was in before, I noticed my speech led my student Minister to tears and she was sooo proud of me. I'm not trying to boast here at all, so bear with me to the end of this note. I felt The Holy Sirit guiding me to write. Not just write speeches but write a book, so I did. This book is in no way to be published but may be copied, unedited and given to anyone who is in need of Love. Anyone who has been a victim of child abuse or on death row or living on the streets or has a drug addiction may find it helpful to read and it might just lead one lost soul to find true Love that is given through Christ Our Saviour. This book is flying around all over the U.S.A. right now and I have many more I will be sending it to in the near future. Finally back to my question..... I also feel led to write an insert every week into our church bulletin and the other church bulletin that our Student Minister is in charge of. I felt very reluctent to do so. I felt it was something I did not have the wisdom/knowledge/experience or desire to do so. I prayed and prayed for guidance from the Holy Spirit over this matter and asked almost daily for God to lead me in what to do or say over this according to his will. Well, the answer came and I all of a sudden lost all fear of writing in the bulletins and every week. I ask for guidance on what to write and I find it soooo easy to write. What I write about is a topic, for instance last week was about God and War, this week is going to be about the Holy Spirit. Each week my insert is one page/double sided in print. The insert is never proof read before hand by anyone. So far I feel on top of the world doing this writing as I have recieved phone calls from both congregations, e-mails and hugs and comments at the end of services over my writings. So do I think the Holy Spirit has guided me to do these writings each week although at first, I grumbled about it and didn't want to do it? The answer to me is a definite YES! I sometimes don't get what I'm going to say till Saturday Night but The Holy Spirit always gets me to write something in time for Sunday. So do you or any others believe, like me that we can be led by the Holy Spirit to do things we really wished we were not led to do? And isn't GRAND that we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us to make those decisions we would never consider making ourselves with our own human minds. Love Mouse |

In the Gospel of Mark, why does Jesus not let the demons speak because they know who he was and why does Jesus tell the man with leprosy and others not to tell anyone what he had done? Mouse |

Thank-you for your replies and suggestions, John, much appreciated. BTW.....I did write a long question to be more specific but I kept getting a thing come up on my screen telling me to shorten my question to 40 words or less????? Anyway, I was wanting to know which way was the best way to read the whole Bible, if one has never read it before and I did get the answers I was looking for, so again thanks a bunch. Mouse |
