1 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 81253
Thank you, but we will have to disagree. Wouldn't your point here also mean that repentance wasn't a requirement to be saved? Oh well. - Samantha Hear because faith comes through hearing. Believe because God loves you. Repent because Jesus died for sin. Confess because it is good news. Be Baptized to be united with Christ. Stay faithful 'til death and you will receive the crown of life. |

2 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 81252
Hi, I believe I'm saying what James and Paul are saying. A person is saved through faith that works. It is not a saving faith if it has no works. It is not a saving faith if trust is in the works. James and Paul are depicted as speaking of two faiths. One that men see and one that God sees. Such is not the case. The same faith that one has initially at salvation is the same faith that carries him through to the last day. Faith works. - Samantha Hear because faith comes through hearing. Believe because God loves you. Repent because Jesus died for sin. Confess because it is good news. Be Baptized to be united with Christ. Stay faithful 'til death and you will receive the crown of life. |

3 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 80973
Thank you. The answer doesn't seem to be what many on this forum have settled on: Two faiths, one faith that God sees and one faith that men see! Faith is obedient (Romans 1:5; 16:26; 1 Thess 1:3) and Faith is IN the Grace of God. Trouble only arises when Faith is IN one's obedience/works. Trouble also arises when faith is not obedient. Faith that does not obey God cannot save. The moment of salvation doesn't come before obedient faith. Thanks again. - Samantha Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized |

4 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 80972
Oh, I'm sorry. The books of James and Romans show that having an obedient faith in God [not in works] is what harmonizes this doctrine. Just an observation. You tend to be very short with people. It may be the medium, but you are coming through as hostile. If not, my apologies. - Samantha Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized Romans 10:9,10; 6:3-5 |

I agree that Hades is the unseen world and no necessarily the place of torment. The only thing I would point out that is 'Paradise' is a realm in the Hadean world: 'today you will be with me in paradise.' - Samanatha Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized, Stay Faithful |

6 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 80970
"'Those who imagine a discrepancy between James and Paul rarely observe that it was Paul who wrote, "Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be!" (Rom. 6:15); and "Having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness" (v. 18). Thus Paul condemns the same error James is exposing here. Paul never advocated any concept of dormant faith. " Exactly, and Romans 6:3-5 shows WHEN the Christians are saved. - Samanatha Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized, Stay Faithful |

7 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 80969
Hello, I'm glad you see no contradiction between James and Paul, because there is none. The solution to harmonizing them is not to create two faiths. The faith that Paul wrote about -- faith in God -- is the same faith James speaks of -- faith that works. When THIS faith is exhibited, one is saved. James is not talking about salvation? I think he is. "You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone." - Samantha Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized, Stay Faithful |

"And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again." I'm glad to hear that Jews are believing in the Messiah. But is it the miraculous conversion so often portrayed? Jews will be saved in the same way Gentiles are, through belief. As long as they choose to persist in unbelief, they are lost. This is sad but true. - Samanatha Hear the Gospel, Believe it, Repent and conform your life to it, Confess it, And be baptized for the remission of sins. Stay faithful |

11 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 80477
Hello again Sniper, I've noticed that people try to explain James' thesis on faith and works by saying this is the faith men see, as if it is a different faith than God sees. I guess they do this since it is difficult to reconcile Paul's statement in Romans with James'. The answer is not to arrive at a doctrine that contradicts James. Paul says we are justified by faith and not by works. But James says that the same faith does work. That is the only way to harmonize. Thanks for being faithful to the word. - Samantha Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized, Stay faithful til death. |

Yes Joe! you did quote several verses and I always appreciate Scripture. But those verses don't say what YOU say they say. You want them to say that men are intrinsically, completely evil. So much do you believe this that every motive is not only suspect, but without a doubt evil. And you then use the Romans 8 passages which say that the 'mind set on the flesh is death' proves that every deed and thought is evil. These verses do not show that. "Anything not done for God's glory is ultimately evil." Oh please! You don't really believe this! You can't! Not all actions are intrinsically evil. If a non-Christian picks up a Bible and reads it out of curiosity is not evil. This is ridiculous. I hope that this view is not the predominate view among our religious friends on this forum. - Samantha Hear the Gospel, Believe it, Confess it, Repent and aline with it, Be baptized into it. - Acts 22:16 |

13 | Robots? | Gen 4:7 | wwjdonuts | 80395
Hello, Your use of the following shows the weakness of your point: ""For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God." --Romans 8:6-8" This is your evidence that lost man does only evil and every motive is suspect? Then you must be consistent and believe that the regenerated mind set on the things of the spirit only has pure motives. Because man is separated from God because of sin, it does not follow that everything that man does is evil. That is an improper leap. I'll close once again by saying how sad your view of man is. The gifts of men, the kindnesses of men, the sacrifices of men: they are all ultimately evil, in your opinion. - Samantha Hear the Gospel, Believe it, Confess it, Repent and aline with it, Be baptized into it. - Acts 22:16 |

You call that a defense? It is sad that all men sin and are doomed without the blood of Jesus. I'm not patronizing, but I feel it is an even sadder place that assigns an evil motive to every deed that is done. You suspect every man's motives? If someone brings you a gift, do you assume that he has an impure motive? Sad. That all men are sinful does not mean that everything they do is sinful. That is an unwarranted conclusion you make. - Samantha Hear the Gospel, Believe it, Confess it, Repent and aline with it, Be baptized into it. - Acts 22:16 |

"Example: A rich benefactor who hates Jesus Christ giving large sums of money to charitable organizations to glorify himself. He refrains from greed in order to feed his pride. Outwardly, his deeds look good, but are not motivated by a desire to love the Lord his God with all his heart, mind, soul, strength." You work on the assumption that ALL motives are evil? That is a terribly sad view of man. I do not. I operate on the assumption that people are basically good. They are sinful and in need of God's grace, but they have the ability to operate from pure and selfless motives. There is a thing called nobility. Understanding the sinfulness of man does not require that we impugn his every action. I am new to this forum so I don't know if this is a common belief. If it is, that's too bad. Thank you, - Samantha Hear the Gospel, Believe it, Confess it, Repent and aline with it, Be baptized into it. - Acts 22:16 |

16 | God's children do revolt | Is 1:2 | wwjdonuts | 80218
WHEN SONS GO ASTRAY Clarke says, "a charge of gross insensibility and ingratitude is then brought against the Jews, by contrasting their conduct with that of the ox end ass, the most stupid of animals,..." Isaiah and other prophets had to preach to an obstinate and rebellious people. Isaiah 1:2 shows that sons of God can go astray. Many of the same type would reject the Messiah whose coming Isaiah foretold (Isaiah 53). "He came to His own and those who were His own did not receive Him" (John 1:11). Israel's sin, had made a separation between them and God (Isaiah 59:1,2). Sadly they would reject their only hope of salvation. Paul says the unreceptive Jews were chopped from the olive tree because they did not believe; though they were the natural branches (Romans 11:17,20). Just as obstinate Israel turned from God, so can God's child turn from Him today. Paul warns the Christian of following the same example. "Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall" (1 Cor. 10:12, cf 10:1-11). It is too bad when the preaching of God's ministers no longer have an effect. I enjoy hearing our local preacher give a strong message from the Bible. It helps to keep us strong. - Samantha Interestingly, many in the premillentialist camp believe -- through misinterpretation of Romans 11 -- there will be in the future a mass conversion of all Israel to Jesus Christ. The 'all Israel' that will be saved will be saved in the same manner that Gentiles are saved. If they believe, and only those who believe. |

Joe! Your Calvinist position is not very well represented here when you represent the deadly concerns of Satan. Isn't it the Calvinist position that says God elects who will be saved and there is no altering that? How is Satan a deadly enemy of God's will being worked in the life of the saved? Calvinists don't believe the Sovereign will of God can be thwarted, do they? I'm still learning. If I've misrepresented your position, I apologize. - Samantha Here's the work that God commands [of course, the person doing them is saved through faith]. Hear the Gospel, Romans 10:17 Believe it, Confess it, Romans 10:9,10 Repent and aline with it, Acts 2:38 Be baptized into it. - Acts 22:16 |

Note: No you don't need to be baptised (water) to be saved. You need to be baptised (Holy Spirit) to be saved." Please tell how you are so certain that water baptism is not what is being spoke of? Do you have some proof? "Once you believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are baptised with the Holy Spirt." Why do you say that Holy Spirit baptism comes after belief? Those who believe in Holy Spirit baptism usually require that it come first and belief follows. Water baptism is an ancient practice which was commanded by Jesus. I do not understand why so many must confuse this issue. Peter commanded baptism and Ananias did too. So do you also interpret Acts 2:38 and 22:16 to be Holy Spirit baptism? - Samantha hear, believe, repent, confess, be baptized, live faithfully to Him |

Hello Joe! I hope I'm not wrong to jump in, but let me suggest to inhisname that his message is out of line. I hope he learns from you. As you are pointing out, faith is obedient. If someone doesn't obey, how can that be pleasing to God? - Samantha Repent and be baptized - Acts 22:16 |

Thank you. It is a pleasure and I hope we can talk more. I hope that your light is shining and bringing glory to God. - Samantha If you have not heard, then hear. If you have heard, then believe. If you believe, then repent. If you believe, then confess. If you confess, have you done so in baptism? Acts 22:16. Visit the church of Christ this next Sunday. |
