With all due respect, Hoppy, I have no idea what this has to do with my post. If you read my previous answer you know where I stand on the issue of leadership and submitting to the elders. I don't know if you are agreeing with me or trying to make another point here. Please explain.

Somewhere in our recent past the church's role has been compromised. For many evangelical churches the church has been seen as a "soul saving station." This is not the Biblical model of the NT church. The church is for the edification, training and equipping of the believers so that we can go out and win others to the Lord. Acts 11 provides a pretty good description of the early church and the teaching ministry.

Attending the church and becoming a member are two entirely different matters.

It sounds like Martin may be getting a bit of Mormon teaching mixed up with the truth. Isa 45:21 Tell me! Present the evidence! Let them consult with one another! Who predicted this in the past? Who announced it beforehand? Was it not I, the Lord? I have no peer, there is no God but me, a God who vindicates and delivers; there is none but me. |

Thank you, Hank. I believe you are correct about Irene, I have since read more of her posts and I see what you mean. I have also come to realize, in my short time here, why the administrators warn against giving short answers. I have read a number of replies that appear to be dismissive of the questioner. Almost as though his/her question is not worthy of real thought and care. It is something we probably all ought to be aware of.

Matthew 7:15 warns of false prophets that come in sheep's clothing but who are really ravenous wolves.

There was a huge difference in the way Jesus dealt with the money changers in the temple and the religious leaders than the way he acted toward the woman at the well, the adulteress who was about to be stoned and Zachaeus. He told the woman, "neither do I condemn you." John 3:17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. I was not offended by Blue eyes or the others who posted, but I was afraid the woman who asked the question might be. Writing in caps is shouting on the internet, so when people capitalize words like "sin," "only," "God" and "Bible" in a reply it appears they are yelling. As Christians we are supposed to speak the truth in love, not beat people about the head and shoulders with our Bibles. I am new to this forum, but I do not think it would be a good idea to scare people away who are sincerely asking questions. When I joined I read the quidelines for posting. The two things that stood out were not to be harsh and not to give short, incomplete answers. You said: "It looks very much like He is yelling. And, it looks like He is condemning." If that is true then is John 3:17 a lie? |

Why are you yelling at this woman? (GOD, BIBLE) When Christ dealt with people He always did so with compassion, not condemnation. Could we all try that please? |

This is an excellent answer to the question. I would only add that the Book of Hebrews also makes a very strong case for the deity of Christ.
14 | How were non Jews saved B.C.? | Heb 11:13 | workman | 199857
People in the OT were saved by faith and grace the same way as in the New Testament. The writer of Hebrews tells us that Abraham's faith was accounted to him as righteousness. The fullness of God's grace was not revealed until the death of Christ on the cross, but grace was still in place in the Old Testament and was revealed in the Law.
