1 | Is prophecy dead? | Matt 11:13 | whyndell | 110719
Well- please offer some Scriptural support for your contention of further "prophetic" usage. The ministers responsibilty is to proclaim the "inspired Word" not look for new messages- the Word of God speaks afresh to every generation because every generation is as lost as the previous. And they do not speak "new" prophesy by the Spirit of Christ- but Satan. And yes I judge because we are commanded to correct error, and that includes these false teachers that have come into the modern church with their hersies, people such as Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyer, Ken Copeland, fredrick price, etc. these are false brethern. |

2 | Is prophecy dead? | Matt 11:13 | whyndell | 1797
Paul was not saying that one could not correct those who wereerrant, since for 3 chapters is exactly what he was doing. That was his whole point in chapter 14- those who were speaking in tongues not edifying the body were in error, they assumed that they were speaking spiritual mysteries, but no one could understand them. Now to take verse 2 and say that this means they were talking to god in a heavenly prayer language, is a serious error. There is no, and never has been a prayer language of tongues. As to my experiences they are just as legitmate as yours, which thanks the Lord Jesus Christ, who By the Holy Spirit delievered me from the Heresey of the Charismatic Movement. Say what you will, but you do not speak in tongues, and you never will. You do not have the simplist understanding of what tongues were for. I thought when I came on to this message site it would be of some biblical based discussions, but instead its another"tongue talker " network. Lots of luck will not respond to anymore of these messages. |

When they speak in tongues what language do they spesk? This is the only legimate use of tongues. Does everyone in the gathered assembly speak English? if they do then there is no reason for tongues. Re-read 1 cor 12-14. Tongues are not a sign of spirituality, and assuredly not a sign one has the Holy Spirit. The false doctrine there is a second "filling" is the cause of all the confusion regarding this issue. If this doctrine were legitimate the Apostle paul would have addressed the issue openly. Yet he does not, nor another writer of the NT. Eph 1.13-14 clearly answer the issue of the Holy Spirit, salvation is the only thing necessary. Even here Paul never says anything about a "higher level" of exprience. So I know this seems insensitive, you have never spoke inn tongues, tongues was always without exception an earthly language. As to prophesy,is never fortelling events, nor delivering a new personal message from God to the Church, that ceased when the Lord had the writers of the NT complete the letters He wanted written to address the churches needs and the needs of belivers. So if they are saying thus says the Lord they are in grave error and need to cease the "fake" or "false" activity. I do not debny the salvation of charismatics, as long as they have responded to the call of God. Whyndell |
