1 | Why 4 Gospels? | NT general Archive 1 | waltherpp32 | 101123
Strong indeed. Galatians 1:6-8 is not a point i can argue. I should have presented my angle first instead of after. Read my other posts - but to comfort you till you read them... i do not believe the gospel of thomas to be necessary for salvation and we would be just as well with out it. Please read my other posts. Romans 14:4 brotherly love jw |

3 | Why 4 Gospels? | NT general Archive 1 | waltherpp32 | 101121
Well, i did what i wanted to do. Get something started. I personally do not accept the gospel of Thomas as inspired. But. Consider. If we went in a new cave today and found a letter of Paul to those at Troas. Would we canonize it and call it Troasites? We need to consider the canon. But it is of man. So if we found more and determined it to be authentic would we accept it? This is the question i am posing. When the gospel of Thomas was written these christians did not have the canon. So they used what they had. And they certainly did not have our "King James Version". But i will answer your questions the way people who believe in it do (I do not - it is interesting tho). 1. This book is accredited to Didymus Judas Thomas. you may better know as "doubting Thomas" the one who litteraly stuck his hand in Christ's side. 2. Its contents paralell much of the 4 canonized gospels. None of it is contradictory to anything in the old or new testaments. 3. See #1 - is an apostle inspired? It was preserved for some reason. 4. I don't know - i wasn't there but it was found as part of a library. Let me re-iterate. I do not believe the Gospel of Thomas necessary for salvation. I do consider it authentic tho - unlike the gospel q which it would be similar to if this so called q existed (it does not and i think it is ridiculous). Any ways, you should learn more of it is my proposition. And i pose this one question i stated above: 1. If we found in a cave tomorrow a never before seen document of Paul (most of N.T. is by him) would we accept it? It may enlighten us to things we bind or do not bind - ie.: water baptism, musical intrument, and any other touchy subject. Search the scriptures daily. And, why not search for more scriptures? brotherly love, jw |

what is that good reason? was it not found with the same manuscripts that many translations of the bible come from? and who decides not to have it in it? the gospel of thomas is authentic so why is it not in the bible?
6 | Saved by belief or belief and baptism? | NT general Archive 1 | waltherpp32 | 100918
My 2 cents. I strongly and whole heartedly affirm that baptism is necesary. No, Mark 16:16 does not list the consequences of not being baptized. But let me ask... in order to have a proper command must one list also the consequence good and bad? NO! It is a command how ever inclusive or not... it is a command. My views: I see baptism as my opertunity to show faith. After all "show me your faith without your works and i will show you my faith by my works" Any body want to tell me who's quote that is? look it up. Baptism is necesary. |

unbiblical for God to judge people? God sais: Rom 12:19 Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, "Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord." |
