1 | What was reason for the virgin birth? | Matt 4:1 | ursus57 | 193120
Carefully read the question and regard the answer with care, Human Nature became sin nature after the fall of Adam. My Human Nature and my Sin Nature are one and the same. Mary imparted Human Nature, the Holy Spirit imparted God's Nature. Jesus' Human Nature is separate from any Sin Nature. I love the reference to Adam, in an earlier note, who had a nature that could be tempted, his Human Nature. He had a Sin Nature after he accepted the temptation. The Bible says '(Jesus) who had no sin..' for a very good reason. If Jesus was only God in human form then he could never sin and what would be the point of His life? Jesus was fully God and Fully man, He was just as capable of sin as any person, indeed tempted to turn from God and serve the devil, and yet maintained His sinlessness through the power of God. |

2 | How much of Torah is to be followed? | Rom 7:4 | ursus57 | 192986
Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in in meat, or in respect of a holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days. I can decide to worship on a day, and another may decide to worship on a different day, one day is as valid as another. I may choose Sunday because of a tradition, another may choose a Saturday because of history or tradition, each choice is valid. I may choose to put the Word on my clothing, and on my door posts. I may dress down, when I go to my fellowship, to show others that clothing is not what church is about. Another may dress in formal attire to honor God. A person gets to choose for that person, a person cannot decide what another person should do. There are limits to this, I can not violate the ten commandments. When I read 'Thou shalt not kill', I get to decide, prayerfully and with study, what this means. I can not murder, I may decide going to war as a soldier is service to God and country, and not murder. I can decide for me and it be Biblically valid, if I feel war is not allowed under 'Thou shalt not kill', that is also valid. A person will see this abused, honest persons seeking to serve God may not agree with each other on the letter of the Law, but let us always strive to agree together with the spirit of the law. I can worship Sunday, unto the Lord, and I can worship Saturday, unto the Lord. Each is valid as the other. While my fellow believers may not agree on the finer points of the Law, we can agree that their is some flexibility in how a person can apply the matters of Law in their walk with God. urus57 |

3 | Is it O.K. to question the Scriptures? | 1 Cor 2:2 | ursus57 | 192633
I was raised in nnominal Christian home, no church and no testimony of God's working in my family. Mom and Dad did not really know about God, so I tried to find my own way in life. I was Buddhist, Mormon and heretic at different times. God did bring me to the truth, praise his holy name. I said all this to say I questioned everything about God and the Bible. Saved thirty years now and God has answered so many of my questions and He teaches me many new things day by day. Please honestly look for your answers, please never feel you are wrong to ask any honest question. God may answer some very soon, and on others He will wait, some answers you may never find. If you are saved then God's Holy Spirit will lead you to the answers God wishes you to know.
4 | What is the best version of the Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | ursus57 | 192566
I can go along with your view and no one can deny the fruit of the KJ bible. When a person says "Bible" I think of KJ. Since I look for some sense that God wants me to use a Bible He approves of, what I 'feel' is correct will be placed along heavily advertised scholarship claims. Since the marketplace produces bibles for profit, I am justified in avoiding those that 'feel' wrong. Many of the easy reader Bibles have amazing claims of good scholarship and endorsed by my favorite evangelist and can be had for a gift to a ministry. When I spot something I 'feel' is off, I can check it against reference materials and against the KJ. So if I realize something may be wrong in a version I am reading, I have a 'feeling' that I should check the matter as best I can. The Majority Text is a great standard to go by, as well as the lives of the KJ translators, most were hounded into poverty and death, as you may know. The translators risked a great deal to bring the KJ out to the common man, making the Book even more valuable in my eyes.

Indeed seek peace, and seek a translation that speaks to you. Many need to be treated as paraphrases, some are deliberately designed to promote a view. If you feel God speaks to you through a Bible, use it. In this day of heavy merchandising examine who brought the translation out and their scholarly and religious connections. I use the KJV mostly because nearly all the reference books are in the public domain now, and can be used for free. Most other translations are under copyright and you will pay for the references related to them. Few deny that the people who brought the KJV out were dedicated scholars, and some of the best of their day. The translation still has a great many very vocal advocates. My Sunday school uses the NIV, somewhat easier to use for the modern student, parallel with the KJ. Someone gave me the NIV reader's version, designed to be understood by younger children. This has become my bedside bible, surprisingly very good even though it uses short sentences and simpler wording. If a wording seems a little off to you, check the passage in a few translations to see which one lines up with what you feel is correct. Some of the 'Hobby horse' bibles deliberately promote a view and play up or play down some things. Vigorously exclude any bible that does not have wide acceptance among a very broad cross section of believers. I came from a KJ only background and realize that many modern students are not likely to use the older English style easily. I desire people to pick up a bible that they feel comfortable with. The very poor, highly sectarian bibles have passed away or have been called out by scholars for their errors. |

6 | What is the unpardonable sin? | John 3:16 | ursus57 | 192311
To re phrase my answer, MTT 12:32 Speaking against Jesus can be forgiven, speaking against the Holy Ghost is not EVER forgiven. MTT 12:24 This one drives out demons by the power of Beelzebub... The ones who accused were dead set against the idea that Jesus was from God. All through chapter 12 MTT Jesus' accusers sought any and all reason to accuse Jesus of sin, and violations of Moses law. The entire tone of their remarks was rock hard resistance to Jesus, even in the face of pure logic, in vs 25, ...If the Devil drives out the Devil he fights himself, how can his kingdom stand... The miracles Jesus had done and his teachings left no doubt to many of the common people that he was from God, at least, if not the Messiah. The entirety of Chapter 12 in MTT is about believing who Jesus is, even if they rejected the idea of him being the Messiah, he proved God was working through him. Even among the Pharisees many believed he was from God. This group in chapter 12 had a very strong and unreasonable resistance to Jesus ministry. So if one sorts through this one can conclude that the Holy Spirit is offended when you attribute the work of God to the Devil, and rejecting Jesus' work as being from God. So it is rejecting Jesus is what can not be pardoned. The flip side of this is when you receive Jesus you have eternal life, ALL sins are forgiven...John 3:16. If one accepts Jesus as Savior the sin against the Holy Spirit does not exist for that person, so it is not an issue. |

7 | Did Jonah die in the belly of the fish? | Matt 12:40 | ursus57 | 192292
Thanks again, Doc! I will use your stuff in my Wednesday devotional. Thank you for the time you spent getting an answer ready for me. I believe Mr. Jonah has the same problem I have, even if we resist God's call to take his message to others he will have his way and his purposes are going to be performed. Jonah is a good picture of my need as God's child to serve as he directs. He will press his servant to do his work, as necessary, or he may prepare a fish for us to live with, and his work will still be performed.
8 | Did Jonah die in the belly of the fish? | Matt 12:40 | ursus57 | 192286
Thank you, the story is a great picture pointing to Jesus' time in the tomb. I appreciate your response. The creature used by God in Jonah, some talk of a whale, some a huge fish, some a sea monster. What types can be drawn from this specially prepared creature in Jonah? |

9 | was Jesus created? | John 1:1 | ursus57 | 192258
Please note that the type 'Wisdom' has a starting place, from the beginning. If Jesus is God, he had no beginning, so the picture of Jesus as Wisdom is very good, if you let the analogy be a partial picture of Jesus.
