1 | Seventy seven or seventy times seven? | Matt 18:22 | thestraws | 40969
Steve and Tim, Thanks for the responses! It is interesting how there are some minor issues in translation like this. Like I alluded to in my question, I know the important point here is that we are to forgive as many times as it takes. Keeping a count would be the opposite of what Jesus meant. I just always like to know that what I say about Scripture is as accurate as I can make it. Thanks! God bless, Mike |

Searcher, I Dasev's defense, sometimes messages are double-posted. I had one happen yesterday, even though I only submitted it once. Both posts happened at the same time, so it could have been a glitch. God bless, Mike |

3 | How should fathers treat their children? | Eph 6:4 | thestraws | 38175
Thanks, Searcher56! I appreciate the quick response. I was looking for more on the respect and love fathers should show. I think this father, and many like him, are so wrapped up in using the rod and coming down on their kids they don't know how to temper it with love. Here's what I've given him so far: NIV Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. NIV Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (This is for all Christians, including fathers!) NIV Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous. NIV Proverbs 14:26 He who fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge. NIV Proverbs 20:7 The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him. |
