1 | people assumptions is causing confusiuon | Rom 1:26 | tew | 159927 | ||
Thanks again Mark for your reply. But I still don't think that's a fair conclusion. If we look at the words "natural use" we could also say it's referring to leaving the natural way of having intercourse(vaginally) for having it unnatural ( anally or using object or beastiallity) Right? Also likewise could also mean the men was sinning also but they were doing something different from the women, right? If you were writting a statement and you wanted to discribe what someone was doing, wouldn't you have said the" women with women" as you so bluntly said men with men? Just a thought from the heart! |

Hi Tim, I agree that likewise means the same but couldn't it means that likewise the men were sinning also but not necessarily in the same way the women? It isn't clear what they were doing and why would'nt Paul have specified women with women as he did men with men so bluntly? That say's to me that they were doing some differnt kind of sin. What do you think? Also unnatural could also mean something that isn't human. |

Hi Brad and thanks for the welcome and not being judgemental, that's say's a lot about your fruit. To answer you question. If you look at the previous verses before 1:26 you will find that they were serving images of statues ie, bird animals etc. In Those times it is know that they would have sex with the statues as a religious practice but they were also practicing lust mixed with that religion. This is why God gave them over to there vile passions. Even the women exchange the natural for unnatural, meaning not human but unatural objects -stautes. Now it does specify the men were with men bluntly, but not the women. This is why I can't underdstand why people assume this to depict women with women, I believe Paul would have espressed it as he did with the men. I believe Natural and unnatural is Human verses unhuman because were in the natural. What do you think Brad? |

Hank, the verse does not plainly say two women together it is just assumed because the next verse is condemming men with men. The natural funtions, yes does mean with human but the unnatural means with something which is not human! look at verse 1:25, this is why God gave them over to their vile passion, degrading passion, shameful passions or another word "lust" Please go back to the Greek translations not the new translations. Peace be with you! |
