Hello CDBJ I use the KJV at home: John 1:12 "But as many as -- received -- Him (we all know that some do not) to them He gave the -- right -- to become children of God, to those who -- believe -- in His name." You and I know that many people who go to church say they believe in His name. However, nobody can actually believe in that which they do not understand. We are given this -- right -- at coming to Him for salvation, but as justme said, the process of -- receiving -- sonship does not happen overnight. We have to acquire a new born spirit (a gift) of God. Gal 3:26 "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus." Not all church-goers have faith in Christ Jesus. To believe that He is (that He exists) is not the same (not as powerful in our lives) as believing in His anointing, to which He has made us His heirs through teaching us to follow Him as our role model. Titus 3:5 : Exactly! My baby step in becoming a believer came when He inspired me to learn the meaning of Hebrew names and I discovered that the name Samuel means "hearer of God." So - I studied the book of First Samuel line by line, looking up names for meaning and reference verses for more detail. I became determined to hear the whisper of God above the roar of religion. (I sill cry every time I think about it. I learned the most important thing about my own salvation during that study.) The Lord wants me to be very, very serious about receiving His salvation. I did not mean for anyone to get the wrong impression about the process of my becoming saved. As to the blameless and harmless part, see: Luke 1:6; Acts 24:16; 1 Cor 1:8; Eph 1:4; Eph 5:27; Phil 1:10 -- Phil 2:15; -- Col 1:22; !Thess 2:10; 2Peter 3:14;Jude1:24; Rev 14:5 Yes, Jesus gave salvation to me by His grace (teaching me.) But there is not one word in the scriptures that tells me that Jesus is going to maintain it for me. That is my responsibility. Christians who are blameless do not blame others for their own short comings, etc. They do not judge others, (only situations.) And they make every effort to avoid harming others, whether lost or saved, and thereby they become less and less -- hindrance -- to the work the Lord would do in the world. Thanks again for the welcome. saved and filled |

Also, it has been denominational religion who has told the people that they do not have to do anything to be saved. However, Jesus told Nicodemus that he had to be "born again" - (renounce the Herodic teachings - learn anew.) Jesus told the rich young ruler to "sell all you have and follow me." And he told the DISCIPLE "repent and be baptized." (Stop ignoring Jesus' teachings and have his thoughts saturated in the sayings of Jesus.) Therefore it is safe to assume that Jesus put - these conditions - on salvation. |

Hello justme. I hear what you are saying about alcohol and drugs and sex when it comes to "falling off the wagon." But we can not get away from the fact that giving in to those temptations is still done -- by choice -- and therefore deliberate sin against self. Knowing that something was done by choice is simply knowledge, not accusation or judging. As to 1 John 8-10, every one of us has unknown sin in our lives, which is why men in the Bible asked forgiveness for it. And the sin that so easily besets us is the sin of the lips. Remember that we will be "judged for every idle word," and that "in the abundance of words there is no lack of sin." As to being a sinner: That is why I ask the Lord every day to reveal my offence to me, so that I might recognize them and repent. The Holy Spirit killed Ananias and Sapphira because they made the DELIBERATE choice to lie to the Church, i.e. the Holy Spirit within the Church. And that was -- after -- they had received salvation. The Lord wants us to -- choose -- to avoid deliberate sin against Him and against one another. Amen? The grace that Jesus saved my by is the things he has taught me to live by. When a welder teaches his student everything he knows about welding, he is gracing that student with his knowledge about welding so that the student might earn enough salary for a good living. When Jesus teaches us everything he knows about truth and life, he is gracing us with His righteousness and the ability to live that way. Do you not agree? |
