Why does the bible seem to contradict itself regarding the commandments of God? The contreversey is that we are no longer under the law and the Ten Commandments were under the law. The book of Galatians seems to be speaking of the law of circumcision but Roman's I'm not quit so sure. I can't get a clear understanding and when I get answers there seems to be other scriptures that contradict the ones I received (in the "Christian" Church.) The Ten Commandments teach us how to love God and our neighbor. The first 4 teach us how we are to love God the last 6 teach us how to love our neighbor. It would seem to me that these laws are spiritual (from beginning to end) but I don't have scripture to prove it. Why would God do away with the law's that teach us to love? There doesn't seem to be any burden in them. There is nothing that says do not touch, do not taste, works or sacrifices. The NT quotes them many times and the book of Rev. says 3 different times that Christ is returning for a church that keeps the commandments and the testimony of Jesus Christ. This contridicts that the Ten Commandments are not in effect because they are under the law. I continuelly hear we are saved by grace. Grace is God's unmerritted favor. The Father sent His Son to die for the penalty of our sin's, that's the grace we are saved by. He loved us when we were still sinners. Because we are saved by grace, does this mean we don't have to obey God? It's like being saved by grace is some kind of doctrine. I know that the covenant of the Rainbow is still in effect today. Is it possible that the Ten Commandments are a covenant seperate from the law and still in effect today? Thank for your help. |

Tim Can you explain to me who Jesus set's at the right hand of His Father when their is only ONE GOD? Either, Jesus is God or His Father is! And since there is only ONE GOD, and you say God is Jesus then who is the Father? |

Then they don't need a music leader that bad! If you have a lawn and on one side the gardener gets paid and then you are trying to find another gardner to do it for free when he knows the other get paid would you do it for free? That's the problem in the church. Everyone see's these pastor's getting large salaries and brand new usually expensive cars not to mention vacations, food exp., book exp. on and on and so they want some of the money too. |

Pasator's should lead by example. Jesus the appostles and disciples did and they didn't do it for money. I don't give my tithes an offerings with the idea that I'm paying someone to do my job (witnessing to the lost). I give my tithes and offering so it can be used to take care of the widows, feed the poor or take care of the needs of anyone in the body first and the prisioner. I also expect the money to be used in study material to help us who are Christians learn to read and study our bibles, not having to pay to get taught the Word through selling us books, tapes or video's. This is what the bible says to do with our money. I don't see where it says to spend millions of dollars on buildings, salaries and programs do you? As long as I have been a Christian in Church I have never heard any Pastor ask if there is any widow who needed to be taken care of, have you? I don't know of any widows taken care of financially by the church. But I know many pastor's who extreme salaries that could be used to spread the gospel. One of the biggest waste of money I see spent in the church is on the "Music Pastor's". There are so many tallented music people in the world and when they love music you don't have to pay them to lead worship in church. P.S I expect Pastor's to do a good day's work for there pay. People work hard to pay tithes which support their salaries instead of writing books, taking vacations, playing golf etc. Remember I live in California. |

That's not my point. They probably tell less sinners about Jesus than the lay person. There are less sinners in Church than outside. I never hear or see a preacher out in public preaching the gospel do you. But in the work place I have seen and heard people tellin others about Jesus. These big buildings, programs, and big salary's paid to Pastor's are not getting the lost saved!

8 | Need to understand the Trinity... | Bible general Archive 1 | rferg | 71499
The word Trinity is not in the bible even though it is used to discribe a tri-une God. I don't know about understanding the "trinity" as the church as tried to understand it but I do understand the "Family of God" being the Abba Father, Jesus Christ the Son of God and the Holy Spirit of God. ONE FAMILY OF GOD. I'm a child of God who has studied this subject for years earnestly seeking the truth not what a denomination believes. I have been persecuted, ridiculed, etc. God is reavealing truth to those who seek Him in the last days.

10 | what is the purpose of the resurrection? | NT general Archive 1 | rferg | 71497
Greetings Emmaus, I was asking a question. You didn't answer it. The questions you asked me are way over my head. But you did reffer to the spirit as the (soul). I was under the understanding that we are a three part being, body, soul and spirit. The soul is the mind, will and emotions. I believe they do die when the physical body dies. That's are personality and we die it dies. Sorry this is where I am on this subject. |

11 | John 1:1 and the word was a god | John 1:1 | rferg | 71496
Good day Tim, I appreciate your point of view. But this is the same type of information one denomination after another has given the body of Christ for years and it doesn't make sense or add up. Your average person doesn't know greek or hewbrew and all the other information you wrote to prove your right. And frankly my mind is to small to comprehend that "being someone" and "with someone" are the same. But maybe you need to be a Pastor, super spiritual or a student of Greek and Hebrew. I agree with your first paragraph completely. In the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John they all start by proving the diety of Jesus Christ, that He is God (the Son) and that He (Jesus the Son) came from God (His Father-Abba Father is His name). Many scriptures seem to be comfusing because we keep trying to make them say something they don't, to prove the rightness of the denomination we are in. I'm not speaking to you but to all religious groups. Are we trying to prove the denomination we are in right or find the truth for ourselves? I have a different approach. You probably haven't heard this before so don't get to hasty. Just think it through. I have a limited education and have sought the answer to the truth about the trinity for years. I prayed and ask God to help me understand so I could love something or someone who was real to me. I recieved this word picture so to speak. I took a piece of paper and drew a line down the middle, on the left side I wrote earthly family on the right side I wrote Heavenly family, which stood for spiritual family. On the left I wrote the names of all the people in our family. Then I wrote the name of the Father God, Jesus -Son of God and the Holy Spirit of God, one on top of the other. Then I circled the last names in our earthly family and then the name "God" which was after the Abba, Jesus and Holy Spirit. After seeing this I asked myself a few questions. We have 5 members in our family and we are ONE family even though we have many members. There is a chain of command and we all have different functions. In our earthly family we are all born with the same nature (sinful) until we are baptized into the body of Christ. Then I asked myself the same questions about the Heavenly family. They (the Father, Son and Holy Spirit) are "ONE GOD" (one family) with more than one member. They have the same nature (righteous) there is a chain of command, the Father is superior to the Son but they have different functions. Like the earthly family their family can also be added to when we are born again we are now children of God (family of God). No, I'm not saying we are God's. I'm saying we now have the righteousness of Jesus Christ and being transformed each day. When we see the word God, Lord, HE, I used we should ask ourselves God who? We see them seperately at times and collectively (all together) Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) created the heavens and the earth. Prov.8:22 The Lord (Father) possessed me (Jesus) at the beginning of His way, Before His (the Fathers) works of old. 23 From everlasting I (Jeus the Son) was established. From the beginning, from the earlies of times of the earth. 24 When there were no depths I (Jesus) was brought forth, When there were no springs abounding with water. 25 Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills I (Jesus) was brought forth;26 While He (Father) had not yet made the earth and the fields, Nor the first dust of the world. 27 When He (Father) established the heavens I (Jesus) was there, When He (the Father)inscribed a circle on the face of the deep, 28 When He (Father) made firm the skies above, When the springs of the deep became fixed, 29 When He (the Father) set for the sea its boundary, So that the water shold not transgress His (Fathers) command, When He (Father) marked out the foundations of the earth; 30 Then I (Jesus) was beside Him (The Father), as a master workman; And I (Jesus his Son) was daily His (Fathers) delight, Rejoicing alsways before Him (His Father), 31 Rejoicing in the world, His earth, And having my (Jesus') delight in the sons of men. Apply this same principal to John 1:1 and it will make perfect sense. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Who was the Word? John1:14 (Jesus the Son of God) and Word (Jesus the Son of God) was with God. God who? His Father God. John1:2 He was in the beginning with God. Who was He (Jesus) was in the beginning with God. God who? His Father. When Jesus is baptized the heavens are open and the Father says this is my Son whom I am well pleased and the Holy Spirit ascends upon Him (Jesus) as a dove. Here we see all three seperately. This is so simple and not confusing (God is not a God of confustion) anyone could understand it even a child. It follows suit through out the bible and makes hundreds of other scriptures make simple sense. Sincerely |

CEBJ You might want to get a book of cataicism (sorry I can't spell) and look up the Ten Comandments written in it (somewhere around pg 50 0r 60.) You will notice that the second commandment is taken out completely, which states not to have any graven images. The third commandment is then quoted as the bibles fourth commandment which states to keep the sabbath Holy and not to do any work on it. At the end a commandment is added I beleive it's in the nineth position so there is still Ten Commandments from removing the second. Also check for yourself under the 3rd commandment that it states that the Catholice church changed the sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. It also says that the Protestant church pays homage because it follows suit. This is not what my Holy Bible says. AS for as Col. 2:16 This scripture is referring to meat and drink offerings, new moon and sabbath days under which are related to the feast which were under the Levitical Law. We are no longer under the Levitical Law. The sabbaths were kept during the feasts. sincerly |

I'm not Tim but I will give you my two cents! People don't witness to the lost because they have not found the answers to their own questions and are afraid they won't be able to answer someone elses. Churches are not set up for the common person to really teach people to study their bibles for themselves, by subjects. So they just go as a ritual and sit on the pews each week. (Ask a person who says they are a Christian a question about the bible and most don't know. They don't know the truth fully about any subject or course show me a church who teaches subject's instead of telling you their point of view and using a scripture here and there and I will fall over.) Who's fault is it that we sit on pews and don't know the bible? Well the Pastor's can say it's the peoples because they don't read their bibles. The people come to the church learn and to be taught. The preacher preaches from the pulpit with no question and anwer time (conversing). Do you think when Jesus or Paul spoke for hours that they didn't let people ask questions and then they responded? Of course they did because that's how most of learn is through conversing. But if the Pastor's are the only ones who "KNOW" we are to listen with no questions asked. Hog Wash!!! I'm tired of this. The reason why Pastor's do this is because they really don't know much more than a few people in their congragations. Thank for letting give my oppinion why people don't witness. |

Hello I'm not a history buff but I have been a christian a long time and could not find the answer that made any sense to me. But I have studied this subject for a very long time and I prayed and asked God to help me understand Him. So I could love something and someone who was real to me and that I knew had a plan for me and loved me. I have a limited education and it takes me a long time to understand. This is when one night I recieved this word picture. I took a piece of paper and drew a line at the top of the left side I wrote (earthly family) at he right side I wrote (heavenly famil) things unfolded from their. After I wrote Abba Father -God, Jesus Son of -God and Holy Spirit of -God they were on top of each other and I could see that God was like our last name and then I realized God was a family. Things unraveled from there and still are. I don't know why God Showed me this. But I have been asking for a long time. Seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened, ask and you shall recieve. It has bothered me for years that know one could explain this to me. Most Pastor's use the Jesus when they should be using the Father's name and viceversa. In my heart I feel it is a clear message I can share with others so they can believe in a real God and when they read their bible for themselves they can understand it and thirst for more of it. God Bless! |

18 | Need to understand the Trinity... | Bible general Archive 1 | rferg | 71347
My friend, We do not need to be God to understand the Trinity! God certainly wants his creation to understand who and what God is. God is not a God of confusion. I studied the Trinity for a long time. I received these kinds of responses to my questions. How can you expect someone to know who God is by an explanation like this? There is no love, effection, no life or anyone to have a relationship with. I will explain it in a word picture so to speak. The Trinity (God) is a family. Just like we have an earthly family on earth the Father God, Jesus -Son of God and the Holy Spirit-God are a spiritual family in heaven. Like in our earthly families we have a last name and several members in our families so does God of course he created us in their likeness. There are 5 members in my family we are all different and have different functions but we are all know by the same family name, our last name. There is a chain of command the Father being the first and the son the second and the so on and we have the same in our earthly families. The spiritual family of God are all righteous they have the same nature and are in unity with each other even with their different funtions. Our earthly families are born with a sin nature until we are baptized into the body of Christ and become spiritual (no I don't mean a God) I mean we are righteous because Jesus died for us. Like our earthly families we can add to them the spiritual family of God can be added to. When we are born again we become the children of God. The confusing part is we say God and know one can figure out who God is because there seems to be three but the bible tells us there is but one God. We don't address people by their last names first. Re-read the NT and ask yourself God who when it is referring to God. Abba Father-God, Jesus Christ the Son of -God or the Holy Spirit of God. You will see them individually or collectively (all together). When Jesus is being baptized you see Jesus being baptized and the heavens upen and the Father saying this is my Son in whom I am well pleased and the Holy Spirit descending upon Him. We see all three individually all working together. In the OT God was referred to usually collectively. One God. Abba Father hadn't sent his Son Jesus to the earth yet. John1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Who was the Word? Jesus John 1:14. And Jesus was with God. God who? God the Father. And the Word (Jesus) was God. God Who? The Son of God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. Who is He? Jesus He was in the beginning with God. God who? God the Father. Read Prov. 8:22 3 All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. Read Gen.1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. God who? The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 2 we see the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters. Gen 1:26 Then God said, Let "us" make man in "our" likeness, according to Our likeness. Notice that us and our are plural. More than one. But the bible says there is only one God. Here we see that the family of God are working together to create man in his image. Hope this helps you to see there is one family of God with three distinct persons in that family they are a spiritual family. |

Greeting BradK! I don't know what the Chrurch of Christ's doctrine is. I don't have my bible in front of me at the moment to give scripture. But I believe that the water in baptism represents the blood. The bible says we are washed in the blood of Jesus. I gave scripture that says to repent for the remission of sin and be baptized. Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit during batism. Sincerely |

When Paul was baptized it was for an example to all believers. In the book of Acts it tells us to follow after the examples of the Apostles. Aslo Acts 2:35-40 38 And Peter said to them Repent and let each of you be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far off as many as the Lord shall call to His self. We are baptized for the forgiveness of sins. We repent then the water washes away our sins. Then we recieve the Holy Spirit. |
