1 | Is it wrong to have pictures of Jesus? | Rom 1:23 | retxar | 173508
Well this is not a very biblically based answer and is mostly legalistic and opinion driven, but I was quite impressed with your voluminous response none the less. Now I am quite disappointed when I discovered you have done a snatch and paste and have claimed it as your own. We all know where the gotquestions.org web site is and can go there anytime we like. Do you have any ideas of your own that you would like to share with the forum? Just remember to keep it honest bro. retxar |

2 | What is spiritual baptism? | Acts 1:5 | retxar | 170025
Greetings again bro, long time, no see! I think we agree here friend, but I think our terminology is different. I too know the WORD clearly teaches that being filled with the Holy Spirit is not the same thing as being baptized into the body of Christ and indwelt with the Holy Spirit at conversion. However, I believe scripture clearly teaches that being baptized into the body of Christ is not the same thing (scripturally), as being baptized with the Holy Spirit. However, I do believe that scripture clearly teaches that the initial filling on the Holy Spirit is EXACTLY the same thing as being baptized with the Holy Spirit. Just so people will understand what I mean, I can use different words if I need to (ie I can say filled instead of baptized), but how can I be that wrong if I use the same words Jesus did? In Acts 1:5 Jesus said: for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT not many days from now. In ...not many days from then... the WORD says in Acts 2:4 And they were all FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT... Surley you will agree that being baptized with the Holy Spirit and being filled with the Holy Spirit are the the same thing here are they not? This seems to easy to see for me, so if I am overlooking something, or if you think Jesus's words in Acts 1:5 were fulfilled at some place other that Acts 2:4, please let me know. retxar |

3 | what is baptism | Bible general Archive 1 | retxar | 115087
There were probably 100 or so post in this thread from 2 years and 3 months ago. There were ton's of scriptural evidence presented then to prove the fact that the Bible consistently teaches salvation by grace thru faith alone, and it occurs before water baptism. These questions raised were never addressed and were continually avoided. After over 2 years I assume things remain the same and choose not to give this topic another stage to preform on again. I am flattered that you choose me as the one you wanted to get back in the ring with tho! Jesus, not water, STILL saves! retxar |

5 | Meaning of "Praying with our Spirit" | 1 Cor 14:15 | retxar | 94133
Thanks bro! It seems I get caught up in this debate much too often, but when I see respected Bible teachers quoted on something that has no scriptural basis as if it's the Gospel, I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut. Thanks for your support of me on this and I agree with all you have posted here. Let all things be done decently and in order! retxar |

6 | Meaning of "Praying with our Spirit" | 1 Cor 14:15 | retxar | 94063
The thought that when Paul used the singular form of "tongue" he was talking about a false estatic tongue is totally absurb and totally un-scriptural. This is yet another example of how far otherwise sound bible scholars and teachers will go to try to prove some un-scriptural, pre-concieved theology and how those who want to beleive the same thing will eat it up. Otherwise, explain to me why Paul would give instrustions to the church for the proper use of a fake gift?????? 1 Cor 14:27 If anyone speaks in a tongue (notice the singular form), let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. retxar |

7 | Why little sign of power in our churches | Mark 16:17 | retxar | 93545
Good answer to my good question! I'm glad you do observe the Lord's supper because it is a scriptural command for us to observe until Jesus's return. 1Co 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes. However, if you believe Jesus has already returned, why do you think "it is important for Christians to observe it" in light of 1Co 11:26? Why would you, if Jesus has already returned? Won't you please re-examine you beliefs and consider the fact that you may be WAY OFF BASE here my friend? BTW, contrary to your previous post to me, God's truth is NOT “simply a matter of on what we think or believe”, but rather WHAT WE BELIEVE should be based on GOD's truth, which is absolutely true regardless of what we may think or believe. You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free! retxar |

What Bible are you reading from that says "This things have ceased"? I have saw no verse in any Bible translation that says (or even hints) that any Spritual gift has ceased or will ever cease until Jesus comes back. 1Co 1:7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. retxar |

10 | Does speaking in tongues come naturally? | Acts | retxar | 92188
Greetings searcher, long time no see! What happened in John 20:22? The disciples received the Holy Spirit exactly as Jesus said and exactly as He had prophesied. The disciples HAD to receive the Holy Spirit at this point, otherwise John 7:39 would not be true. John 20:22 fulfills John 7:39 whereby those believing Jesus had been raised from the dead (Rom 10:9) would receive the Holy Spirit. What happened in Acts 2:4? Exactly what it says "And they were all FILLED with the Holy Spirit..." (not the indwelling of the Holy Spirit which happened when they believed in John 20:22). Note: Jesus referred to the initial FILLING of the Holy Spirit as being "baptized with the Holy Spirit" in Acts 1:5. So those who protest that being “filled with the Holy Spirit” is improperly referred to as being “baptized with the Holy Spirit”, are also trying to correct Jesus! Be ye filled with the Spirit! retxar |

11 | Mat 17:20 vs I Cor 13:2? | Mark 9:23 | retxar | 91490
I agree, Jesus was indeed speaking of the size of the mustard seed. But I also believe He was speaking of the characteristics of a mustard seed which needed to be released and planted in order to bring forth results. What’cha think? Now faith is the substance of things hoped for! retxar |

12 | Are those drawn 2 Christ raised to life? | Rev 13:8 | retxar | 88958
This will be my last response to you on this subject. I don’t have a lot of time to spend here, especially if what I say is not being read anyway. You keep insisting that I have not stated what John 6:44 says. From my 2 previous post to you I will repeat what I have already said (and I really mean it this time!). From Post 1: “I believe it means simply what it says and that is that all who come to Jesus are drawn to Him.” From Post 2: “All who are raised up are drawn.” Or just read it from the WORD: Joh 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. Coming to Jesus requires one to first be drawn to Him, but being drawn to Him does not necessitate that one come to Him. Don’t take my word for it, read a true life example of this phenomenon in Luke 10! What else are you wanting me to say, bro? P.S. Your have took a couple of jabs at me accusing me of being “defensive” and “disrespectful” toward you. I have pretty much ignored them as your have not qualified any of those accusations with any specifics. Most of the time generalities such as this are just attacks and condemnation from the enemy to just create strife, so I try not to be drawn into that. I am still ignoring them, but I apologize to you anyway if there has been some misunderstandings between us (neither one of us knows the other). If you have any specifics you want me to address, I will be glad to do so. God bless you bro, retxar Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. |

13 | Are those drawn 2 Christ raised to life? | Rev 13:8 | retxar | 88628
The only way I could come to another conclusion is if the text actually said what you are saying it says. I will need to see John 6:44 turned around to say what you conclude it means, instead of what it actually says in every translation I know of. Then I would not need an interpretation, I could just read what it says. That’s what I do now, and most of the time it works well. What translation are you reading from that says "All who are drawn are raised up to eternal life"? All I have checked has it the other way around; All who are raised up are drawn. Are you trying to say that's the same thing? How come the rich young ruler, who was indeed drawn to Jesus, did not come to Him? Why did Jesus offer eternal life and forgiveness to someone who it was not available for? Why did Jesus make forgiveness available to those who crucified Him, when He knew all would not accept that forgiveness? |

14 | Are those drawn 2 Christ raised to life? | Rev 13:8 | retxar | 88544
"Assume" and "say differently" what ever works best for you, bro. I would prefer you just read and believe what I said without the slant tho. I don't read into this verse that all who are drawn, come to Jesus, simply because that is NOT what it says. I believe it means simply what it says and that is that all who come to Jesus are drawn to Him. Turn that around and you have turned around the Gospel. Jesus saves! retxar P.S. All who read this post are invited to respond. So we can know that all who do respond, were invited. So, by your reasoning, I guess all who are invited will respond? If that happens you will have convinced me that John 6:44 means something different than what it reads and I guess I will just need to learn a new way to talk, write, and read. |

Thanks! I thought that was the scripture you were referring to. When Elder asked the question of fellowship with others outside the "church", I took outside the "church" to mean outside the "body of Christ" (Jesus only has ONE church!). If Elder did indeed mean the body of Christ when he said "church", disagreement and division will occur at times with those outside the "church", simple because we are commanded to declare the truth of God's WORD. We are salt and light (Mat 5:13-16) living among materialistic and darkness. I think it is important for true Christians to come together in agreement and work from that starting poind, instead of the common thing that happens when those of different denominations meet and the 1st thing that is brought up is "well you believe this way, which is wrong, because me and God believe this way!" The power of agreement is an awesome thing (Mat 18:18-20, Acts 2:1-2) that we too many times chose to not want to be a part of! God bless you! retxar PS I read you profile. Keep up the good work and God bless you for your hunger for His WORD! |
