Dear navynerd, Thank you for attempting to provide some answers, but you are forgetting what Malachi 3:6 says, God does not change. Even Jesus said that heaven and earth must pass away before any part of the law fails. The hand washing command shouldn't fail and neither should the death penalty for a rebellious child. If what Jesus is saying about heaven and earth passing away before the law fails is TRUE, then even the death penalty for rebellious children should still be valid. My questions to this forum, do we really believe the Pharisees were wrong about hand washing and the death penalty? Dave |

Hi there navynerd, Thank you for your response. Although you give a more complete answer than anyone else, you fail to answer my questions, were the Pharisees wrong to continue a tradition of washing hands? As you probably know, God commanded Aaron and the priesthood as a tradition forever to wash before going into the temple and eating. If this was an instruction from God to be endured forever to all generations, how is it that the Pharisees were wrong about it? I agree with you that eating with unwashed hands may never harm you, but as a directive from God, doesn't it make sense to you that it is an excellent practice in light of all the microorganisms such as viruses, germs and bacteria that have been discovered and exist abundantly in our world? God knew from ancient times that hand washing was a beneficial practice. Were the Pharisees wrong to continue the tradition of washing hands? According to Jesus, they were. That and the death penalty questions are what I am trying to have answered. Thanks, Dave |

oh Dave, another thing about the death command, God never really meant for the death penalty to be enduring. But the leaders had no right to change a specific command from God and that is why it was current at the time of Jesus which is why Jesus called them hypocrits. Many of God's commands were terminated at the cross. Hope this helps you. To God be the Glory! navynerd |

Dave, nothing wrong with washing hands and nothing wrong with not washing hands. The lesson of this story is not what goes into a man's belly that defiles him but what comes out of the mouth. If a man has evil thoughts and speaks evil that is what defiles him, not what he eats. Jesus knew the hearts of the leaders and wanted to make that point. You can eat with unwashed hands and it will not harm you. Glory be to God. navynerd |
