That is a great statement. I am writing that one down!
2 | Saved vs. Works (John 5:24 and 5:28-29) | John 5:24 | jtbutler_2000 | 63595
I have to comment on your first statement. WE ARE NOT SAVED BY WORKS. Ephesians 2:8-9 states very plainly that we are saved by grace and not by works. Ephesians 2:10 goes on to say that we are saved to do good works. In James 2, God is teaching us that faith that does not produce works is not "saving faith" or true faith. It is merely a intellectual acceptance, much like the Satan's knowledge of who Christ is. When we accept Christ as Lord and Savior (by faith), we are saved to do good works. The works clearly come after faith, not before. James is asking someone for proof. He says to put your money where your mouth is. If we say we believe, then is that faith working out in our lives?
