1 | Pastor preaches about men body parts! | Luke 22:26 | jcdm327 | 172910
I agree w/your pastor "that Hollywood and renown painters show men and Jesus as soft and effeminate." However, This pastor described a "real man of genius" from the bud light commercials. Men very much in touch with his flesh. If I were in your shoes I would not be afraid to "in your pastor's vein of thought" rock the boat. Be a man and stand up for what is holy. Let me recommend a book. Paul Coughlin, No More Christian Nice Guy: When Being Nice - Instead of Good - Hurts Men, Women, and Children, (Minneapolis: Bethany House Publishers, 2005). 224 pages. Foreword by Dr. Laura Schlessinger I agree w/justme jcdm327 |

2 | Authority to Ask God for One's Needs | Phil 4:19 | jcdm327 | 172232
Authority to ask for ones need? Yes you have the authority to ask. Need is relevant. If you repent from your sins and submit to the Lordship of Jesus, you have the authority to ask for forgiveness, and you will be given the faith to receive it. If you need a job to support your family, He will provide. ASK. SEEK KNOCK Jesus' name is not Lord. Lord is his title. If he is our Lord, we obey him. If we obey him, he will supply our need to fulfill his commands. He commands us to love. He gives us that ability. If he needs you to have 15 jets, to preach, you will have 15 jets. Maybe he wanted Joni to show crippled and whole people, that his grace is sufficient I remember the story of Joni. Before she was injured, As I remember. She was a "Christian" but not devoted to God. Diving was everything to her. After her injury, there was anger at God, grief, depression, and the whole spectrum of emotions. John 9:1 Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works (GLORY) of God should be revealed in him. Oh how much God loved a man that he would be born blind? Therefore, he could reveal himself. Is Joni glorifying Jesus now, or was she glorifying Jesus as a diver? Why is it so important to you that Joni walk? Does she NEED to walk? Did God fall off His thrown because Joni cannot walk? On the other hand, perhaps your theology is a bit carnal? Are Joni's "needs" met? Yes Has God forsaken her? No Can people see the grace of God in Joni? Yes Can people see God's Glory in us? I was healed of scoliosis when I was 20. My children prayed for their pet bunny's broken leg, and God healed it. I saw a chain fall off a neighbor's dog. It was wrapped around its leg, causing pain. I could not get it loose. I asked Jesus to help me. The chain just fell off. I needed a job to provide for my family. I made a petition, and received every word on it. One day at Church youth camp I came in at the end of the service at the altar call. I was not really allowed to be there. People pulled strings so I could visit my girl friend. The preacher asked if anyone wanted the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of tongues. I said to my self, "I think I'll take that." I went up and received. All of these glorified God. I asked God to heal my eyes. He did not. About 20 years latter my water heater blew up in my face. It burned my hair and skin and I saw the flame hit my glasses. I still wear glasses. Healing my eyes would not have been a good gift. God gives good gifts. Joni E. winning the gold medal in the Olympics might have cost her, her soul. Hmmm Surely Joni will be wearing GOLD in heaven. Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. And that not of yourselves; Is talking about faith. The faith is not even ours. IT is a GIFT. Rom 12:2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. 3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, Grace then peace, jcdm327 |

3 | Abiding | Phil 4:19 | jcdm327 | 172159
Oh yea I just want to add that Jesus only did what He saw his Father do. Therefore as we are conformed into the image of Christ, we will share the same will.
4 | Show me the money | Phil 4:19 | jcdm327 | 172156
Luke 12:15 the men were slaves/servants. Paul said that he was a bondservant (slave by choice) of Jesus Christ. God has given to each of us a talent/job. In addition, he expects there to be fruit. John 15:8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. The sons of Eli were wicked. I Samuel 2:12 Now the sons of Eli were corrupt; they did not know the LORD. 13 And the priests’ custom with the people was that when any man offered a sacrifice, the priest’s servant would come with a three-pronged fleshhook in his hand while the meat was boiling. 14 Then he would thrust it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; and the priest would take for himself all that the fleshhook brought up. So, they did in Shiloh to all the Israelites who came there. 15 Also, before they burned the fat, the priest’s servant would come and say to the man who sacrificed, “Give meat for roasting to the priest, for he will not take boiled meat from you, but raw.” 16 And if the man said to him, “They should really burn the fat first; then you may take as much as your heart desires,” he would then answer him, “No, but you must give it now; and if not, I will take it by force.” 17 Therefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD, for men abhorred the offering of the LORD. They were taking the best parts of the offering not given to the priests in the Law. This caused the people to despise sacrificing to God. I think the world sees some of the TV evangelists who live extravagant lives, and then beg for money. Moreover, it causes sinners to judge their hypocrisy and despise Christianity. |

5 | Show me the money | Phil 4:19 | jcdm327 | 172154
I have not followed Copeland for many years. However, because of his faith teachings (not the wealth and prosperity message) I learned how to recieve from God. I recieved healing, experienced 7 miracles, and found a job that met every request on my petition. I got exactly what I asked for. I don't beleive Copeland is teaching that God wants everyone to be millionaires. But even as Israel prospered under Solomon, I think God blesses His children that love Him. God gives the power to gain wealth, but I don't think everyone can be trusted with wealth. The wealth of the wicked is laid up for the righteous. Well since the wicked have no treasure in heaven, It is not just a spiritual wealth we are supposed to inherit. It all belongs to God, and he will entrust it to whomever He pleases. Luke 22: 35 And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?” So they said, “Nothing.” |

7 | Jesus told disciples take a sword ? | Luke 22:36 | jcdm327 | 172120
Thank you for responding. I understand the commentators you posted. They did not quite answer my question except that perhaps the reason was to give Jesus a clear opportunity to teach the disciples the consequence of the sword. As a side note: I am sure this rebuke finalized Peter's confusion. I love the drama of Peter and the disciples during the next few days. They were so sure Jesus was going to destroy Rome. Peter was ready to fight to the death for this cause. He even demonstrated is zeal in the garden. Jesus' rebuke must have really baffled him. His heart was totally broken, he was confused, and he was probably overwhelmed with every emotion possible. The human drama is so real it is almost comical, because we can identify with it. Jcdm327 |
