4 | death, being with Jesus -verse? | 2 Corinthians | janet | 42057
This is for Hopeful and Angel, re 2 Cor 5:8.I love the way God intertwines the lives of His children to help them learn and to help confirm what they have learned. This question was asked to me by my Mom just a couple of weeks ago. She had been taught the spirit sleeps in the body until Christ's second coming. I told her that I believed we went to be with Christ. Then, like a coincidence (if that is what you like to call it), our pastor happened to mention Sunday the same thing Angel 1 said...we go to be with our Lord the instant we die and then are returned to our glorified bodies when He returns. Also, Luke 8:55 states "Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up." This is the section in which Jesus brings the little girl back to life. To me, if the little girl's spirit returned it must have left, not gone to sleep or wouldn't the scripture have stated something like, "He awoke her"? It is also interesting that Luke, the physician, wrote this, a doctor, who, history tells, was a stickler for details. God bless both of you, I know we will meet someday in heaven. |

Also, if you are interested in this subject, Paul (aka "look4") gave some interesting looking internet suggestions in his note dated 01-19-02, 5:28 pm They really look good. Thanks again...Janet |

Nolan, You and your dad will connect again. Your dad will come to realize what an intelligent son he has raised. Sounds like both of you are very serious about our Lord and not only have a hunger for His Word but have a very strong desire to see that His Word is not miscontrued in any way that may hinder others in finding their way to Him. Just remember, God did not intend for his Word to be a battle ground for believers. When we battle amongst ourselves, that takes time away from spreading the good news to others who need to hear it. I do have to admit though, that I have found myself in both camps (the "Camp of the Rebellious" as well as the "Camp of the Stubborn"). I've battled whatever the opposing side happened to be most vehemently because I thought I was right. And, do you know what? Almost everytime I learned that there were areas I was right and areas I was wrong (we won't mention those times that I was totally and completely wrong, o.k.?). But the point is, I always learned something new. Whether it was learning that part of my point was right or learning that I was wrong, I learned something. That made me grow. It also made be respect and admire my opponent. Well!!! Enough of all that. Stay strong. God will definetly get you two together. I know He will because your dad has all those incredible reference books and you will find out what happened to those cities. :) God bless and keep you and your dad. Janet |

11 | What happened to these cities? | Matt 11:21 | janet | 31038
CDBJ, Thanks for your help. Do you happen to know how these cities met their demise? I know it was as a result of their sin. But how? Was it earthquate? Disease? War? Would you happen to have any information on that? Thanks again for your help. God bless you. Janet |

12 | What happened to these cities? | Matt 11:21 | janet | 31037
Tim, Thanks for your input. You gave me some really good information that I had not found before. I'm trying to find out why these cities became deserted and ruined. Jesus told them, He warned them, denounced them, upbraided them. Obviously, they did not listen to Him. I realize sin was the ultimate reason for their demise. However, I guess I was looking for something more specific; you know, were they overthrown; was there disease; did the cities just start to decay so the people left; maybe unemployment; was it an act of nature, earthquake, flood, bugs (euk), etc. That is the kind of information I would like to find. I'm just curious. If I'm to know, God will show me. If you happen to come across something, keep me in mind. It's kind of funny, this morning, during my devotions, I came across: "I said I would scatter them and blot out their memory from mankind." (Deut 32:26, NIV) Possibly, this is what has happened. Jesus warned them, they refused to listen, and what Jesus warned them about happened. They were rebellious, thought themselves high and mighty...better then God; and now...because of their offenses and hard hearteness they have ceased to be and are not even remembered. Ahhhhh, possibly that is the lesson. But, gee, I really would like to know how. Maybe it is because I was a youth leader for so many years and I always was confronted with "Well, why???", so when I did lessons I tried to cover all the basis. Some answers come with time. Thanks again for your input! I love this forum!! God bless you! Janet |

Nolan, Thanks so much for your quick response. This is frustrating! I really am curious what happened to those cities, but I realize that I can't keep spinning my wheels, so to speak, taking a lot of time searching for this. I do know one thing. God has a way of revealing answers when he wants us to know. So, if you happen to run across something in all the research you do, please let me know, I sure would appreciate it and I will do the same. God bless you...Janet

Shadow, Fred will also be in our family's prayers. We have also experienced the sadness brought by cancer...too many times. God has blessed Fred with good friends who enlarge the prayer circle. Stay strong in your prayers. I clearly remember how very comforting our church family was during those times. God bless you...Janet

16 | A pastor who is there? | NT general Archive 1 | janet | 11766
I agree with Hank because I experienced something similar, but not completely. I had been attending a small church for well over a dozen or so years. I really was quite happy being there, everyone was like family. I loved watching children grow into teens, and the teens grow-up and get married and start families. When there was tough times, sickness, or death, the church family was there giving enormous support. It was very comforting and comfortable. That is why I was very surprised when I felt God leading me to a really big church. I could not understand it, I liked where I was and I loved the people. But He made it very clear to me that He wanted me to start attending this other church. I questioned Him alot. I even bulked at obeying Him, I was very confused and I, at first, refused. I told Him, that I would not be comfortable in such a big church because I would feel so lost, so unattached, I told Him I needed a church family". He very clearly asked me something that kind of floored me. He asked me what I thought heaven was going to be like...He made me realize that heaven is going to be very big with a big "family". I obeyed Him. I love my new church. I have grown spiritually by leaps and bounds in ways that I could have only done at this church under this particular shepherd who is teaching me so much of God's Word. I have seen more souls saved (praise God!)in the relatively short time I've attended the big church then I ever did the smaller church (in fact, at the smaller church, there was rarely alter calls). In addition, I am now in another "family" that is growing the more I get involved. My spiritual needs are being met in ways that I would never have imagined possible. Now please do not misunderstand me, I am not making a stand for big churches over little churches. What I am stating, however, is that we need to go where God wants us to be because He alone knows where we will grow. There is afterall only one "Church" and He is the shepherd. There may be many camps, with different heavenly assignments, but there is only one church. One other point. When I moved on to the other church, I was very hurt and confused with the way some of the people from the small "church" family treated me. They more or less "shunned" me (but many did not). Point: If someone you know feels the leading to change churches, accept it, understand they are being obedient and don't make it difficult for them, and most especially don't stop loving them. |
