I have a degree in literature, but the origins of mythology are obscure. That is what made me think this might be it. In ancient times, story telling was the main way of teaching, recording history, and passing time. Mankind embellishes stories - like the game of 'Truth' played as a child. Since this happened 120 years before the flood, the stories of these children could have been told to the children of Noah's sons as part of the history of mankind and so on down the line of humanity. They were probably embellished to illustrate various morals, explain works of nature, and teach what is basically psychology. This is something else that makes me think that the 'sons of God' were fallen angels. We know that there is no other God, but to the humans at the time, fallen angels would have been gods. The children, 'mighty men of valour', would have been more like Hercules and Achilles. We know that Noah was righteous, but we also know at least one of his sons was not and we know nothing of the sons' wives or what they believed.

Just for my information, what is the Biblical backup of the daughters of men being the daughters of Cain?
3 | Who were the son's of God in Job? | Gen 6:4 | granma_ota | 3254
I took that translation from the NASB which, as I understand it, is one of the most reliable translations. And of course the "angels neither marry or are given in marriage." That is why these angels fell from grace. A spirit can procreate with a human since Jesus is the proof of that. And to say the Bible means one thing in one part and another thing in another part seems to be sacrilegious.

What verses are you referring to in Hebrews?
5 | For debate purposes only | Gen 6:4 | granma_ota | 3242
I believe they were angels because of the references to sons of God in Job 1:6, 2:1, and 38:7 and that these are the fallen angels referred to in 2 Peter 2:4 and Jude 1:6-7. Especially the reference in Jude because of the passage "indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh". Dinosaurs and fleas are questions I am saving for God. |

6 | Who were the son's of God in Job? | Gen 6:4 | granma_ota | 3229
Sorry. But also reference 2 Peter 2:4, "For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment;" and Jude 1:6-7, "And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, 7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire." These seem to be referring to the Genesis episode. |

7 | Who were the son's of God in Job? | Gen 6:4 | granma_ota | 3227
What about Job 38:7? God is speaking and is talking of the creation of the world - before man - and says "When the morning stars sang together And all the sons of God shouted for joy?" These could not have been men since God was laying the foundation of the earth. |

That is a wonderful explanation. I guess mine didn't explain it fully enough.
