1 | What day are we COMMANDED to gather? | Heb 10:25 | daughter of jerusalem | 220568 | ||
Dear Beja, Shouldn't you keep on reading? I don't have a problem using the entire passage - you need to get down to verse 22 to realize that what is being spoken about is NOT the commandments of God concerning these things, but what men have taught.... Col 2:16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you with respect to food or drink, or in the matter of a feast, new moon, or Sabbath days – 2:17 these are only33 the shadow of the things to come, but the reality34 is Christ!35 2:18 Let no one who delights in humility and the worship of angels pass judgment on you. That person goes on at great lengths36 about what he has supposedly seen, but he is puffed up with empty notions by his fleshly mind.37 2:19 He has not held fast38 to the head from whom the whole body, supported39 and knit together through its ligaments and sinews, grows with a growth that is from God.40 2:20 If you have died with Christ to the elemental spirits 41 of the world, why do you submit to them as though you lived in the world? 2:21 “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!” 2:22 These are all destined to perish with use, founded as they are 42 on HUMAN COMMANDS and TEACHINGS. 43 2:23 Even though they have the appearance of wisdom 44 with their self-imposed worship and false humility 45 achieved by an 46 unsparing treatment of the body – a wisdom with no true value – they in reality result in fleshly indulgence. 47 (NetBible) (capitalization my own for emphasis) Colossians 2:16, 17 is IN NO WAY talking about the commands concerning "...food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a sabbath day..." that God the FATHER, Himself, gave to us. Lightedsteps and Steve, The Hebrew word used in the Old Testament is Strong's H4744 aqrai and is translated as meeting, assembly, convocation. In Lev. 23, we are given 8 specific days per year to be observed by aqrai(meeting), aside from the weekly 7th Day Sabbath. These days are the 1st and last days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of First Fruits, Shavu'ot or Pentecost, the Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and the 1st and last days of the Feast of Tabernacles (these 8 days are known as High Sabbaths). If you read this chapter, you'll see that these feasts are NOT the feasts of the Jews, but the Lord calls them His feasts. I think He still lays claim to them and they are as alive and well as is His Son to whom they point(ed). Keep in mind that only the first 3 feasts along with the Passover memorial have been fulfilled. If these days were fulfilled so completely, and so right on time, it stands to reason that Trumpets, Atonement and Sukkot will be fulfilled in like manner. Halleluyah!! Thank you daughter of jerusalem |
