Wow, thanks for that insight on the socialization with idolatrous people. That makes a lot of sense since the Israelites were so drawn to become like them (as we especially see later in the years of Israel). | ||||||

I agree that we should always obey God, even when we don't know why God wants us to do something. But I think that knowing why God wants us to do something helps us to see and understand the love of God and his heart for His people. | ||||||

I wasn't sure what he was getting at, but I think it was that there are more stars than there are descendents of Abraham. If that's his question, whether or not this verse is actually true, then I have the answer. It's true, but I think that it might be interpreted best, when in light of other scripture. God made the promise in Gen. 13:16, and when he said that Abraham's descendents would be like the stars, he meant that the difficulty in numbering them, not that they would be the same number. The amplified says in Gen. 28:14 that they would be as countless as the stars. I hope this helps! Ryan |
