1 | verse about devil's insignificance | Bible general Archive 4 | brian c | 234738
Hi Doc, I've been wondering whether what you describe is what happened ie...the impression stuck while the actual text flew away! The impression I got many years back was just as you said (quote)"THAT was what everyone was so worried about???" Funny though, someone mentioned the text to me just a year or so ago and I don't recall it being this one in Isaiah. Seems it was more concise but it is probably just as you speculated. And yes this is, I think, indicating the king of Babylon but as a type and shadow of things to come. At any rate, Jesus Himself was fond of quoting Isaiah and the old prophet was pointing to the cross where quoted by the Lord. So I too am not uncomfortable interpreting this verse as pointing to the defeat and exposure of the deceiver as little more than a self inflated liar. Thanks for the good input! Brian |

Thank you Doc. I think you found it although this is not quite as I remembered it. Either my memory has rewritten it or there is a very similar reference to this verse somewhere else...maybe in the new testament. Thanks again, brian |

3 | verse about devil's insignificance | Bible general Archive 4 | brian c | 234730
thanks but that verse is the 'death is swallowed up in victory' verse. Not what i am referring to. What I'm talking about is NOT from novel but is a scripture. It should read pretty closely to the way I quoted it. The conveyed message is that the devil is shown to be so much less that we thought him to be. I can't recall the exact wording so I can't find it in a search on bible sites. someone out there knows it though. thank you
