I kinda wanna agree here, concerning exogesis and Isogesis....too --FAR too often we choose the latter and take what we think we know because of something our parents told us, something we heard in sunday school as a 2 year old and interpret scripture in light of that saying "it can't possibly mean such and such because of that thing I'm fairly certain to be truth" when in fact we need to go back to the very day it was written, who wrote it, to whom was it written, where was it when was it, how does it reflect in light of the whole of scripture...take the language....hebrew....the word hate..well it doesn't hold the same connotations as we think. to us hate means to utterly despise....because of anger or whatever....this carries more the weight of casting out of sight, kinda like how when we hate someone we cast them away, but here God doesn't do it because of anger or whatever he just chose jacob. | ||||||
