Humility, Personally, I don't believe your attitude was biblically nor spiritually correct. How is the non-believer to know that life doesn't end, but BEGINS, with God if you refuse to dirty your hands? If they could change and make themselves acceptable to you without you getting in among them, then they would have no need of you... Thank God you didn't first have to change for Jesus to come to you? How would I handle the situation? I do it everyday, in one way or another. I get down and dirty my hands, and the people see that I can have a great time (probably a better time) without the beer, the cussing, the angry emotions - their choice of music may not be mine, but I can tune it out if necessary. You'll never tell a story if you don't have an audience. Yedida Solomon |

Shalom John, give CDB a google. I've found if what you want can't be found there, it probably can't be found. (And they are very reasonable.) Yedida Solomon |

3 | "Women being silent" | Gal 3:28 | Yedida | 218375
Yesisa, Could rhat scripture also possibly be to that particular group of people alone. Could there possibly have been a group of women who were disrupting the study/teaching sessions by "usurping" the attention of all to give unbidden their own opinions? Looking at the cultural context, the roles of women in those days were quite different from today. To make society work, they remained in the home, taking care of home things and raising children. The men went aabout their jobs outside of the home, I would imagine that it would have been not much different then as in a synagogue today - if there is no one to look after the younsters, the women are expected to come by after the husband returns home (at least on the High Sabbaths) rather than take noisy children into the sanctuary, and on regular Sabbaths to just get the teaching from her husband at home. Could this be what was going on at that time? The Lord gave the first commission after the resurrection to "go and tell..." to a woman. Yedida |

4 | "Women being silent" | Gal 3:28 | Yedida | 218363
Shalom laborer, Nice to meet you. I liked what you had to say about women keeping silent. Like someone here on SBF has said so aptly, some time ago - not everything written as a command in the bible is for us today. Otherwise, we would all be proud owners of Arks!! You can call me a female chauvinist if you wish, but I would like to point out a few things: 1st - Adam was formed from the dust of the earth OUTSIDE of the Garden. It is commonly agreed that as far as human perfection goes, Adam was perfect - so, Eve was Formed from something that was already perfect and INSIDE of the Garden. 2nd - If you check the Hebrew word that was poorly translated as "rib" you will find it was the same word used when speaking about the side of the Ark that Noah built. Woman was NOT fromed from some unnecessary, disposable part of Adam, she came from his side, without which he could not live. 3rd - Eve may have been deceived but Adam made a conscious decision to be disobedient... This is my story, and I'm sticking to it :o) Yedida Solomon |
