2 | Did Job have a second wife? | Job | Thomass | 73517
Hank: Prov. 12:18 "Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing." Prov. 15:1 "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." So would you agree with me, that how we challenge people and talk to people must be done in a manner that is not demeaning to the other? Your first comment to me was way over the top with sarcasm, if you don't believe me reread it and then reread the one that you just sent to me. Imagine a world, where we practice what we preach. |

3 | Did Job have a second wife? | Job | Thomass | 73501
I agree, but the only way to combat ignorance is to read the Bible for yourself. And the point is that is not really important whether Job had a second wife or not, that's not the point that God is trying make.God in His sovereignty can give; or hold back; blessings in accord with His purposes. Who are we to try and understnad His ways? I just want to live according to His purpose, as his servant!
4 | Did Job have a second wife? | Job | Thomass | 73496
I'm sorry Hank, but did you not pose the question of whether Job had a second wife? If you will read my first posting, I did say that the Bible does not state whether he had a second wife or not. I did maintain that he had more children, so a wife had to be involved somewhere along the lines. It seems as though you are trying to pick a fight where there is none. I've spent a year studying the Book of Job and this question was brought up and every student had their opinion on if it was his wife or another woman. But that's all it was; an opinion. I do accept the scripture as given to me for Proverbs 30:5-6, says: "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. DO NOT add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar." Besides I'm pretty sure that the Bible said that they had camels and donkeys for transportation, not Rolls-Royce.
5 | Why did Job love God? | Job | Thomass | 73492
You must have faith first! Unshakeable, unbreakable faith and just believe with all your heart. DO NOT wavier, be steadfast. Read I Corinthians 2 chapter. Keep reading your Bible and maybe take a study course on the Bible, a book at a time. Have you confess your sins to God and been baptized? Have you ask him to make you into a new creature, leaving your old habits and mind sets behind? You also have to remember that God works in his own time, not ours. I'm not sure of your circumstances or what you're waiting to get. So I can't really comment on that. Just have you made a change in your life for Christ?
6 | Did Job have a second wife? | Job | Thomass | 73426
I agree with you. But why would God restore to Job twice as much as he had, before calamity struck and allow him to keep a wife that told him to curse God and die!!?? Everything restored to Job was newer and better, that could include a wife.
7 | Why was Satan allowed amon the sons of G | Job | Thomass | 73414
Jesus entered heaven when he rose from the dead.To answer your second question: While the concept of Satan in heaven is difficult to comprehend, it is clear that he is now the accuser of saints. Though satan was defeated at the first coming of Christ (John 16:11). his execution was delayed and is in stages. Here it states that he will be cast out of heaven in the middle of the Tribulation. Later he will be bound for the duration of the millennial kingdom. The devil will be final thrown into the lake of burning sulfur (20:10) where the world ruler (Antichrist) and the false prophet will have been cast a thousand years earlier.
8 | Why was Satan allowed amon the sons of G | Job | Thomass | 73408
Because satan could not deny God's assesment of Job's godliness, he questioned why Job was pious(sincere; earnest; deeply religious). Satan suggested that Job was serving God not out of love but only because of what he got from God in return. If Job's rewards were removed, out would go his reverence. Satan's subtle suggestion that worship is basically selfish hits at the heart of man's relationship to God. The Book of Job does more than raise the queston of the suffering of the righteous. It also, through Satan's words, deals with the motives for godly living. Will anyone serve the Lord if he enjoys no personal gain from it? Satan suggested that if God removed His protecting hedge around Job and removed everything he owned, then Job would curse God. Job, in other words, was worshiping for selfish reasons. This accusation also attacked the integrity of God, for it suggested that the only way He can get people to worship Him is to promise them wealth. Perhaps this indictment against His character is one of the reasons God let Satan buffet Job. Surely God knew Job's heart, but He used Job as a demonstration to silence Satan. In addition God wanted to deepen Job's spiritual insight!
