3 | This is my point exactly! | Josh 19:40 | TerryM | 3055
Omission because of that reason makes sense to me. I view idolatry as a form of blasphemy which is an unpardonable sin.
4 | Why do we not keep the 7th day Sabbath | Col 2:16 | TerryM | 2566
I think we are on the same page. I see what you were saying now. Faith does play a BIG part in our service and desire to study and develop a relationship with God. But I also believe a person has to work up to the point where their works, praise and study are the result of their love for God. God uses different people for different reasons. We are all given talents and gifts along with a measure of faith that we must develop. These are to be used to fulfill God's divine plan. With some people (me in particular), God instills a yearning to seek Him. While still in the muck and mire, God placed inside of me a desire to know more about Him. It was not because of my love of God that I studied the word and sought His counsel. All my thoughts and plans for me life were contrary to what God had in store for me. As a result, everything I touched and tried to accomplish failed. It was because of this frustration and despair that I sought God. Through His infinite grace and mercy I found redemption and peace. From this my love of God developed. They more mercy He showed me then more I loved Him. Now I desire to worship Him and study His word because of the love that developed from this relationship. Most would argue (and have) that this is not the way. I knew God in my head, but I did not know Him in my heart. I didnt' just wake up one morning and say "I love God so I am going to worship and praise Him". I was one of the heard headed ones He had to prove Himself to and I thank Him everyday for that patience and love. It brought me to the point where I can say I worship and praise God and study His word because I love Him. |

8 | Why do we not keep the 7th day Sabbath | Col 2:16 | TerryM | 2361
How else can we "rightly divide the word of truth" if we dont' study the word? You can not spread the gospel of Jesus Christ if you do not know it? You can not develop a relationship with someone you do not know? How else can we become effective doers of His word, if we dont' know what the word is? I think we need to do these things to accomplish the things God has ordained us to do. It is true that it is up to us to decide what kind of relationship to have with God. But I also believe that God desires to have a relationship with us. If not, then why would He ask us to "come unto Him"? There are no material things that we can manufacture or obtain that would be of any worth to God. I realize that. But praise does follow. But after searching the scriptures and applying them in our daily living and hearing the testimony of others and sharing our own experiences of His grace and mercies, we can't help but praise Him. For "if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out." |

9 | Is inter-racial marriage biblical? | Deut 7:3 | TerryM | 2349
I agree. The Bible speaks of being "unequally yoked" but that is referring to marriage between a believer and an unbeliever. I have heard people take this passage and denounced interracial marriage. God was referring to religious differences, not ethnic differences.
10 | Why do we not keep the 7th day Sabbath | Col 2:16 | TerryM | 2313
The purpose for MY worshipping on SUNDAY is to give the Lord the first of my time. I tithe MY time unto the Lord. That is a personal decision I made. Now that is not to say that is the only time I worship. Everyday should be a day of praise, worship and thanksgiving. I believe we were created to give God praise. I am also aware that God does need our study times, services, etc. But He needs us to do them. These are times that we develop our relationship with God so that we then may proceed to inform others about Him. 2Ti 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth". |

11 | Why did Jesus have to beborn of a virgin | Bible general Archive 1 | TerryM | 2049
Jesus was offered as a sacrifice for our sins. For a sacrifice to be accepted by God, it had to meet certain guidelines. The established the Law of First Things which is giving over the first born or first friuts as an offering. The sacrifice for this offering had to be a devoted thing (Lev. 27:26-28) - a clean animal devoted to destruction as a tithe offering. Lev. 27:27 also set forth the requirements for redemption. Therefore, the scrifice for man had to be a pure, devoted thing. In the Jewish culture, it is my understanding that lineage is determined through the mother. Because Jesus had no earthly father, He bypassed the genetic inheritance of sin. The term "Lamb' was given to Jesus because He was sacrificed for our sins. |

13 | GEt back up | Revelation | TerryM | 2008
I was not putting words in his mouth. I was asking him if he believed this. Hence, the question mark. I know people who truly believe that once you are saved, you are always saved and say it all the time. You can not speak for everyone on this. There are a lot of words that aren't in the Bible that we hold as valid (ex. Trinity, eucharist, usher, american). So are you saying that because that word is not in the Bible people can't "slide back into sin" (that is the meaning of the word). Neither do I base what I beleive on songs. I only referred to it as an example/definition. I was not refuting, disagreeing, or denying anything in his statement. I was merely asking a question or clarification on his part. I take my faith and my salvation seriously and for you to imply otherwise is an insult to me personally. I was in no way trying to be flip or argumentative...just curious. I am serve a God full of grace and mercy and believe that salvation is free to all who seek Him and forgiveness is avaliable who sincerly ask. Even to those who make mistakes. That is MY belief. I do nor will I force that on anybody else. If you dont' believe it that's fine too. But I know I have sinned and I KNOW I have been forgiven. Now...you tell the person who comes to you broken, seeking redemption and forgiveness from God that they are going to hell anyway. |

14 | Why do we not keep the 7th day Sabbath | Col 2:16 | TerryM | 1999
I never said the day you take off from work should be the day you worship on. Neither does it say that in the Bible. But most people take that scripture and say that you should work 6 days and and worship on the 7th. God never said which days to work, neither did He say which day to worship. He said work 6 days and rest on the 7th. Now if they day you should to worship is the day you take off, then so be it. I take off more than 1 day a week and I worship more than 1 day a week. Everybody can not have sunday off, that is why we have more than one service. I am a an advocate of Sunday worship because (and this is just my opinion) it is in line with tithing of your time. The Bible says give of the first fruits of yor labor. This could include your time. Sunday is the first day of the week (by our current calendar). I am giving the first of my time. That is a "tithe of my time. I also give an "offering" of my time through Bible Study, prayer services, choir rehearsal, women's ministries, church school, etc. |

15 | Why do we not keep the 7th day Sabbath | Col 2:16 | TerryM | 1910
The Bible tells us to remember tha Sabbath and keep it holy...we should do all our work in 6 days and rest on the 7th day. It never said which 6 days to work. (If I am wrong, someone please correct with the scriptural reference.) Neither does is explicitly say which day to worship. (Again, if I am wrong...)We are having this same discussion at church. I am of the belief that if you set aside at least one day for the Lord...give it all to Him, then you are ok.
