1 | What about repentence though? | Gen 15:6 | TOFT | 51034
How can something lead us to salvation and not be a part of salvation...I am not understanding that. Luke 13:3 says that without repentence we will perish (not saved) so doesn't that mean we need it? In Acts 2:38 Peter tells us to repent. Didn't Jesus say that whatever Jesus bound on earth will also be bound in Heaven? So isn't repentence involved in remission of sins? Through HIM, TOFT |

I would like to add another thought to Mark 16:16...which part of the verse tells us how to be saved? Which part tells us what will condemn us? Now we are discussing whether or not baptism saves right? Which part should we look to, to see if it saves us? It is very simple, it says AND...it's a VERY clear verse...just read it. You all still remind me of Naaman...except he humbled himself and did the will of God. Through HIM, TOFT |

4 | Why does this happen?????? | Bible general Archive 1 | TOFT | 50797
Kalos, What I had meant was that God knows why it happens...and it some cases,...I said it "COULD" which means it is possible...that it can help the child in the future...though I personally don't see how...but God is the one who knows why it happens or as others say "why does he LET it happen"...seems like they are only trying to make God unjust by imply that he LETS it happen. 5 | Mark 16:16 what does it say? | Bible general Archive 1 | TOFT | 50794
Tim, With Mark and John...I did not mean the whole...when I said Mark and John...I was referring to the endings...my mistake, should have been more clear on that. I don't see what the textual evidence is that puts Mark's ending in question...do you happen to have some resources that I could study on this? Through HIM, TOFT |

6 | Mark 16:16 what does it say? | Bible general Archive 1 | TOFT | 50779
Tim, What you said about age and other facts is very true...it does matter. I just wanted to list something for everyone to think about...why do people attack Mark, and not John or Hebrews when they are excluded in the same manuscripts as Mark is? It has to do with a pattern. A pattern that many do not want to humble themselves to OBEY God. Obedience is Love (1 John 5:3, John 14:15). Look at Naaman in the OT...he didn't want to humble himself and be CLEANSED by a simple thing...that is what we call baptism today. I think this has to do with TODAY completely...the lack to HUMBLE oneself and OBEY. Through HIM, TOFT |

Christ forgave the thief under the OLD law...we are under the NEW law now...Jesus' NEW testament hadn't begun until He had died...because with a new testament there is a nessecity of the death of a Testator, Jesus Christ (Hebrews 9:16-22). We CANNOT apply the thief on the cross on the basis of salvation. He was forgiven under the OLD law, not the NEW. The thief on the cross...is a good example of humbleness and Jesus' power on earth to forgive. But it doesn't apply to us, because Christ is NOT on the earth and His NEW law is in effect. Hope that helps to explain. Please read the following site for more details: http://www.tftw.org/Tracts/saved_thief.html Through HIM, TOFT |

Question I would like to ask...when was the thief forgiven? Before or after Christ's death? If it was BEFORE...then how is it that forgiveness of the thief applies to us who live AFTER Christ's death? Through HIM, TOFT |

9 | Mark 16:16 what does it say? | Bible general Archive 1 | TOFT | 50742
Tim, Thanks for your comments...appreciate it. “An Evaluation of the New International Version”, by; Foy E. Wallace Jr. quotes "the textual historical fact is that there are five hundred manuscripts and two thousand copies of that category of manuscripts that produced the Bible—and the end of Mark is missing for only two of the five hundred manuscripts, and from none of the two thousand copies! The end of John is missing from the same manuscripts and Hebrews ends at chapter nine" That would be were I got it from...I take this source as very reliable...also a great critique on the reliability of the NIV. 10 | Mark 16:16 what does it say? | Bible general Archive 1 | TOFT | 50739
Great post Grace and Truth, I remember hearing something about Mark 16:16 not being in manuscripts...but also that the final chapters of Hebrews were missing too in these manuscripts...so why is Mark 16:16 attacked and not the last chapters of Hebrews? I think all can see the reasoning behind this Baptism IS important...if it is not, why does it represent something as great as the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord in Romans 6? And why does it say that baptism "doth also now save us" in 1 Peter 3:21? It says "the like figure" refering to the example of Noah in verse 20. Now for all those on this list, tell me how this baptism is NOT WATER baptism? Where can you find it in these verses? Through HIM, TOFT PS. I think I may know you GraceandTruth...Wednesday Night Invitation, ring a bell? |
