1 | baptism when and who | Acts 2:38 | Shelly | 178514
Hi CeeBee I congratulate you on your stand not to go ahead with the baptism at this stage. I think it is important to note that Peter said, "Repent... and then be baptised" meaning to turn from our ways first, and then be baptised. Peter did not say, "Be baptised, and then repent." God bless you, Shelly |

7 | Why so many destined for Hell? | 1 Pet 2:8 | Shelly | 70625
Hi My ref was Romans 10:9-10. This refers to Jesus as Lord (not only reference to God). Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. |

9 | Pastors and Salaries | 1 Cor 9:10 | Shelly | 51801
Sorry Johnny, I did not read your previous note, just this one. We belong to quite a big church, and there are quite a few people there that work at the church full-time, so they get paid by the church/us. They do not have time to have another job beside church. Neh. 10:37 says: "Moreover, we will bring to the storerooms of the house of our God, to the priests, the first of our ground meal, of our grain offerings, of the fruit of all our trees and of our new wine and oil. And we will bring a tithe of our crops to the Levites, for it is the Levites who collect the tithes in all the towns where we work." My NIV Bible study notes says about this verse: According to God's law, the people were to give a tenth of their produce to the temple for the support of the Levites (those who cared for the temple and the religious observances). A tenth of what the Levites received or produced went to the priests for their support. The principle at work was to ensure the support of the house of God and his workers. We must not overlook our responsibility to God's workers today. Thanks Shelly |

14 | Do I need to go to church | Hebrews | Shelly | 48701
Yes, I believe you DO need to go to church. Hebrews 10:25 says: "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another; and all the more as you see the Day approaching." How are you supposed to tithe, support the Church, learn more about Jesus, and become more like Jesus if you don't go to Church and spend time with other believers? |

[12] In a loud voice they sang: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and praise!" |

18 | Tilthe calculation:On gross or net pay? | 2 Cor 9:1 | Shelly | 13115
I believe it's on the gross wage. Depends on how many deductions you have, if you do it after deductions, there could be next to no money left. eg. after tax, after health insurance, after canteen meals, after mortgage payment. And if you are looking at your net pay as an excuse to give God less, then you could even get some more deductions added to you pay, which proves it can't be right. Try giving God the tithe on your gross, and I'm sure He'll bless you like He has us. Malachi 3:10b Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. Genesis 14:20b Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything. Luke 18:12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get. Hebrews 7:2a and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. |
