1 | Does God speak to us in dreams today? | Rev 22:18 | SerrasNewRoad | 158875
Mark, I am also happy to let this rest as you have written it. This is likely my last post. I have been nourished both by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (which I recommend highly for teaching) and Calvary Chapel (where I took the baptism of the Holy Spirit), and some on fire pentacostals. And, quite frankly, where would I be without all I gained from the Catholic Church and the very first church I joined, which was Presbyterian, not to mention the first church I received Communion at, and where my Second Sunday of Advent 1990 born again experience ties to - the Episcopal Church. Christian fellowship tends to go denominational, even online, however, it is wonderful when we can cross boundaries and witness to one another, as did the early church of the New Testament, where Christians were to come together, educate and build up one another, encourage one another, as Paul writes, in orderly manner, one with a teaching, one with a prophecy, etc. We must, absolutely, test the spirits. There is good guidance for that in the New Testament, and I personally like to test with the Nicene Crede. I always belonged to Jesus, however since I embraced Him the 2nd Sunday of Advent, 1990, I have experienced physical healing from cortisone addicted athsma, deliverance from alcohol, and God does speak to me by dreams. All this is by the power of His Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit which proceeds from the Father and the Son, and which bears witness of all that the Son speaks, and the Son can speak nothing except as given to Him by the Father. "Hear O Isreal, the Lord our God, the Lord is One". His gifts are given to edify the Church. Sound teaching, a sober mind, and wisdom are also gifts. It is not my intention in this note to cause further debate (and I am aware this note may "disappear"). Just to encourage you in your faith, and even to encourage those who might read this who are concerned with your "emotional state". Praise God that we have emotional states. It identifies us as human. One of the fruits of the Spirit is Joy. This is something that I experienced after the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. It stays with me. I thought I would share the meaning of my screen name. On the 5 Freeway, going to San Juan Capistrano, is Father Junipero Serras Road. For those who read this posting, if you occasion Orange County, California, travel Father Serras Road, and make the necessary turns, to go to Father Serras Chapel, which is an historical site. There is a new, very beautiful basilica there, as well. All of this amidst, by south Orange County standards, poverty. Walk the entire site and look into the faces of the people who walk by. To me, Father Serras New Road, is everywhere we see among us today, the poor, destitute, miserable, unreached. These are the people Father Serra came to convert to Christianity. This is where Christ sends us today. They can be among us in the church (calling themselves Christians), as well as those clearly outside us as we pass by on the road of life. Perhaps the greatest of all of Father Serras New Roads, are those we can pave in the 10/40 window. I am very much interested in missionary outreach to this area, and taking the gospel to the poor and the unreached in these last days. May all who read this posting, travel Jesus' road well to eternal life, and along the way, gather together flocks to bring along with you. Perhaps you will find them along one of Father Serras New Roads. Blessings, peace, and joy to you all in Christ Jesus. Amen. |

2 | what fruit did eve eat? | Genesis | SerrasNewRoad | 158760
Scripture can be viewed literally, figuratively and prophetically. It is easy to read the literal truth in the Garden of Eden. From Luke 6:43, we learn the truth of our human condition, and can apply it to Genesis. Adam and Eve brought forth the bad fruit of disobedience to God. It also demonstrates they did not love or trust Him with their whole heart, soul, mind and strength. Faith without works is dead. James 2:20. When Satan came to tempt, they did not practice their faith in God, and, so, quite literally, they died. This doctrine of original sin is key to right relationship with God. In Matthew 4:4 Jesus rebukes Satan, quoting Deuteronomy (because He came to fulfill the law and the prophets) - "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." The next time someone offers you the fruit of disobedience to the Lord our God, feed instead upon the Bread of Life. |

3 | Divorced pastors and repentence | Matt 3:8 | SerrasNewRoad | 158755
On this one we can go back and forth a bit. I am not speaking to the office of Pastor - Someone else should do that. With regard to His eternal soul, I did use Matthew 3:8 - which is very strong. Ultimately, our eternal life is THE question - all other issues are merely how we may serve the Lord so that He is glorified. We don't matter. I spoke honestly about how I feel as a potential parishioner. We are called to love one another as He has loved us. Satan is prowling about like a roaring lion - and he truly is working to devour the brethren in these latter days. This person's eternal soul is of primary importance, and it should be of concern to all of us who read the posting. |

4 | Does God speak to us in dreams today? | Rev 22:18 | SerrasNewRoad | 158743
I do not see my two notes anymore. I will not deny my faith in The Lord. I hope my postings have been an encouragement and strengthening to the brethren. Believe the Bible you read - It is alive, as is Jesus. He is omnipotent, omniscent and omnipresent. He is our coming King. See to it that when He comes, He finds you doing what He has called you to do. I am sent to share my testimony. Blessings and Love. |

8 | commonalities in the cross and worship | Col 2:14 | SerrasNewRoad | 158700
Nothing, if you take the cross to be an idol to which you bow down. Or if you believe somehow that piece of jewelry you wear around your neck, or the thing hanging on your wall, has any power to it. We worship Christ and Him crucified. But remember the ascension - Mark 16:19. The tomb is empty - He is risen and coming again in glory - Halleluia! Jesus said "unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you have no life in you". He is the bread of life, and by His shed blood on the cross, we have forgiveness of sins. What is true worship - I refer you to the responsorial praise (the "new song") of Heaven in Revelation 5:9-14. Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, for He has redeemed us to God by His Blood! Preach Christ and Him crucified, that as many as are given to Him, may believe. The slaughtered Lamb hanging on the cross is the source of all our strength, and behold, He is coming again in Glory - will you be ready? |

9 | What does Luke 16 mean? I don't get it. | Luke 16:9 | SerrasNewRoad | 158694
I would link this parable to another one - the ungrateful servant. In that parable, we see ourselves, who, being forgiven our sins by the atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross, then take hold of others for the small debts they owe us and demand every "penny". This unjust steward practiced the Lord's prayer "Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors" better than we, the church often do. Remember, it was the sinner who went away justified after pouring his heart out to God, not the Pharisee, who was proud he was not so bad off. Where our treasure is, there will our heart be also. Picture Mary cradling Jesus in her arms. Can anyone doubt who her Treasure was? Or where her heart was? So too should our Treasure be. Then our heart is always in Him, the living Christ, and, therefore, and come and reside within us. We will then give up all things to follow Him. Do not ask for temporal things - for He knows our needs. Simply live according to His Way - Love Him, and keep His commandments. "You cannot serve both God and Mammon". The sinner in the Luke 16 parable held on less tightly to mammon than we Christians. Always return to the 10 Commandments. Thou shalt not covet. Love God, keep His Commandments, confess them regularly, for we break them in our hearts and minds continually. Know that without the sacrifice of the Holy Lamb of God upon the Cross, your confession would be of no avail, but becuase of His sufferings, death, and resurrection, so shall we spend eternity in His presence. That is our reward for simply being His. And since we are His, we glady receive all things from Him. Therefore, we need covet nothing from man, nor even demand just payments from man. Love thine enemies, pray for those who persecute, bless those who curse you, and yes, be cheated even out of what you are owed, since, in the end, we all owe a debt to Christ that we can never repay. "And now, I give you a new commandment, that you should love one another as I have loved you". "Greater love hath no man than this, than that he should lay down his life for his friends". Go to Christ in prayer in these last days, and ask Him how you, as the grateful servant of the Living Christ, can live this out in all boldness (Acts 4).
