1 | Putting 2 and 2 together | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 90429
I think we have the same view on this subject. While the Bible may not address issues such as things like Cocaine, the answer can still be found there. The Bible, is a guide on how we should live, and though a specific word might not be there, there are always similar situations. All of lifes questions can be answered with this one book, sometimes it just requires more than knowing a few verses, but also knowing the intent of a whole chapter, book, or the entire Bible. Thank you for the point you make sometimes I can forget this myself and it is nice to have someone bring me back to reality. God bless.
2 | Putting 2 and 2 together | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89969
I think that the best way for anyone to help me is to pray that God will keep me strong and steady down the path that He desires me to travel.
3 | Putting 2 and 2 together | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89948
Amen. Although I hope this does not reflect your view of all pastors. I myself am not one, but I have met some who truely do promote the Word of God. Someday i myself hope to be one of those. God bless and may He guide us all.

5 | Putting 2 and 2 together | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89925
Thank you for your response. I agree completely with what you say. My apologies, I thought you were one of those people who say that without a doubt everything can be answered by quoteing a verse or two. I agree that the whole Book must be read in order to even begin to comprehend what and who God is. Thank you for responding yourself and not letting others speak for you. I find your repsonse much more to the point than others. God bless.
6 | Remember the Sabbath; when? | Gen 1:1 | Schmythe | 89924
Just out of curiosity EdB, Whatis your response to the original question? The one having to do with the Sabbath?
7 | Putting 2 and 2 together | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89923
You are very correct in the point you make. However, this thread has to do with (or so my understanding goes) those christians that are "lazy" whom I tend to view as those that need guidence. But yes Amen to what you say. But scripture also says Mark 4: 21 "He said to them, "Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don't you put it on its stand?" Just because there is evil in the world we should not hide away from it, but you are right we must always be careful to keep ourselves from being sucked in. God bless
8 | Judgement or Discernment? | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89921
I apologize for my agrumentative state, I have been told that it does come accross as that way some times. This is not how i would like it to be precieved. It is just that I get so wrapped up in the discussion of things, I forget, my tone some times. However, I make no excuse for myself and hope you accept my apology. I would also just like to say that the Word does not offend me nor does what you say. However the way that it was put forth here does seem a bit strong. However that is good. Matthew 21: 12, 13 "Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. "It is written," he said to them, " 'My house will be called a house of prayer,'but you are making it a 'den of robbers.'" It is good to be passionate about what we believe if all christians could be this way this world would be much better. God bless. |

9 | Are we Stupid or Lazy? Our Soul at stak | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89920
Thank you very much for clarifying. I agree with you. There are true teachers out there whos intent it is to pass on the true word of God, but there are also those who would prevert it. And how are we to know as followers of God unless we look into these things ourselves. Thank you once again for the clarification. God bless.
10 | Searching for the truth | 1 Thess 4:17 | Schmythe | 89915
What you say does make sense, however there is one point I disagree with. You say that it could not have been Jesus because he was not born yet. If you were to read John 1: 1-3, 14 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made...The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." Also if you will read my previous note, in not all of them was I as forgetfull as some and I did include scriptural reference.
11 | Searching for the truth | 1 Thess 4:17 | Schmythe | 89913
Once again it seems that I am in the wrong. I apologize for implying that you should leave this site. Anyone who is intent on spreading the word of God I am sure is welcome. Now that I have apologized I would hope that you will be able to forgive me for my rudeness. Also I hope that others would look at the notes i've made that have scriptural refference, in addition to the ones i've made with the mistake of leaving them out. Others here (not you George) seem to be very quick to make judgements on my knowledge of scripture without actually dicussing anything with me. Well to all I have but one thing to say. May God bless you and make the wonder of his glory be seen by all.
12 | Searching for the truth | 1 Thess 4:17 | Schmythe | 89840
well Moses did not see his face. Exodus 33: 20-23 "But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live." 21 Then the LORD said, "There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen." the explination for Jacob, could be that it was Jesus. But yes you are right, although we may dissagree on these issues we are still brothers in Christ. May God bless you, and provide you with the knowledge that only he may give. |

13 | Putting 2 and 2 together | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89839
I realize this, but my point is that not everything is show in scripture, somethings must be thought over and discussed with others. Which seems to me to be the opposite of what the rest of this discussion thread would advise.
14 | Putting 2 and 2 together | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89832
maybe it is the translation i have (new living translation) but it does not say it was because they did not want to deal w/ God. the closest i can find is 1 samuel 8: 7 "Do as they say," the Lord replied, "for it is me they are rejecting, not you. They don't want me to be their king any longer." This does not say anything about the jews wanting a man because his judgement can be clouded. please let me know if this is just my translation or if i am looking in the wrong place.
15 | Putting 2 and 2 together | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89826
EdB, I have a question, and i'm hoping you can give me some scriptural reffernce for this. you seem to say that the answer to everyhthing can be found if we look for it in the bible. I am curious in what verse does it say that the jews of this time wanted a king so they would not have to deal with God? please let me know where u find this. |

16 | Are we Stupid or Lazy? Our Soul at stak | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89825
this seems slightly contradictory to me george. you say, "As for those who "will not seek truth for themselves," I have only pity, and would shake the dust from my feet where they are concerned." but then you say, "Is it not the adults place to properly train up the children?" So which is it are we to leave people to fend for themselves or our we to teach those that ask questions? please let me know.
17 | Judgement or Discernment? | Rom 14:12 | Schmythe | 89824
I find it interesting that as soon as someone agrees with you they are "spiritually receptive". I think you need to pray long and hard about the direction you are heading.
18 | Hell not created for man? | Matt 25:41 | Schmythe | 89820
Once again i am curious are you compareing my to a "false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."? you seem to not address the main intent of my previous post, which was to discuss, my basis for the idea that hell was created for satan and his lot. Instead you only seem to elude to the fact that you consider me a "false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."
19 | Searching for the truth | 1 Thess 4:17 | Schmythe | 89817
First off let me say that I take what you say to heart, as I do with all who have the intention of spreading God's word. Although i take offence to the statment that i "misinterpret the fact that “the only way to the Father is through Jesus.”" Not because i believe i am necissarily right in my interpretation, but because only God could correctly interpret his word. This may be your interpretation, but nothing more, just as the same can be said for what i write. Secondly I am curious if ou view what i write as "profane and vain babblings". If so that is not the intent and perhaps you are in the wrong place if you do not think questions should be allowed, or discussion. Also I hope you have read the post I made moments before this reply. Finally, Ezekiel 33: 8, 9 "When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself." We are more responsible for others that your statment would lead one to believe. God bless, and as a precaution to my previous messages, please feel free to point out any place that I seemed rude and i will do my best to correct that and in advance i apologize.
20 | Searching for the truth | 1 Thess 4:17 | Schmythe | 89799
I apologize for not including scriptural reference for that last part. Also i did not mean the spelling part as an attack and I apologise, now that i read it it does seem a little rude, so i would once again like to ask your forgiveness for that. As you can see my spelling is never perfect either. nor am I, that is why i do enjoy listening to other's interpretations of the bible, perhaps they have seen something I have missed. But now on the subject of Jesus being with Elijah. John 1: 1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." I think we can both agree that Jesus is eternal and has been with God and in God since the beginning. Now here is the part where we may differ. Genesis 3: 8 "Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden." Now it is my interpretation that this is God in his physical form, which is Jesus. This is where I gain my belife that God (Jesus) was walking with them. Finally it says in Exodus 33: 20 "But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live." The only way it is possible for us to see God is in the form of Jesus. Genesis 5: 24 "Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away." If he had seen God the father, he surely would have died, so it must have been Jesus who came down to take him away. I hope this is a little better explained than before. God bless and once again i apologize for my tempermental answer earlier. |
