1 | How could Catholic priests be wrong? | NT general | SOGWAP | 200532 | ||
Jesus Christ obviously didn’t come to set up different religions or denominations. The differences happened as people had varied opinions about what certain teachings meant not realizing that God’s Word means what it says and says what it means. Perhaps with the persecution of the believers many moved away and then no longer had direct communication with other believers and tried to fill in the blanks in their understanding the best they could. There are probably a myriad of reasons for all the differing beliefs. The best WE can do when we have questions is to go to God’s Word. When conversing with others about the Word of God we should always make sure that what is said is backed by the scriptures. Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.-- Good study tools such as a Young’s Analytical Concordance et al, The Comparative Study Bible, etc are all great helps to a workman of the Word. II Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.-- The Word of God is truth and we don’t need to defend it. John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.— What we need to realize is that all ANYONE needs to do to be born-again, to be saved is to believe Romans 10:9 and 10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. :10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation There are many people of many different denominations that ARE born-again. In that I rejoice! I suppose as humans we want all the people we know to believe as we do. That is why we tend to keep company with like-minded individuals. When we speak to people and find they don’t believe as we do, we, at times, tend to want to force the issue. How well do any of us respond to being forced into doing something? We only speak the Word in love and if we hit a wall in their believing we need not be angered or frustrated we just move on. If all you’re doing is giving them the Word of God that’s all you need do. Perhaps you’re planting a seed! Remember I Corinthians 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.---GOD gives the increase, not us! We just smile and move along and claim God’s promise in Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Now that Jesus Christ is no longer walking the Earth teaching God’s Word we need to understand that Christ’s followers have been entrusted with that ministry. II Corinthians 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; Ephesians 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly,to make known the mystery of the gospel, We just speak the Word boldly with love! Sometimes we plant the seed, sometimes we water the seed but ALWAYS God gives the increase! God bless you! SIT |
