1 | cross above front door | Ex 12:13 | Praise Be To God | 160747
Only the lost would wear a cross as an amulet to ward off evil or bring good luck. I would say that a cross above the door shows all who enter, who is Lord over that household. Janae |

2 | Faith | James 1:2 | Praise Be To God | 160015
What you have said is true and is one type of faith--believing faith. The Bible says God gave to every man a measure of faith. This measure is enough faith for every man to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. The type of faith I am referring to when I quote "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God," is that faith which comes through many tests and trials, when all you have is God and all you have to sustain you is God's Word. You live every moment trusting that God will bring you through circumstances that look grim. But we do not look at the circumstances; we look at God. But God! That is the kind of faith that pleases God. He wants us to rely on no one else and nothing else but Him, and as you have so rightly quoted, without faith it is impossible to please God. Janae |

Hello, Steve: (I tried to post this originally, but I had trouble, so I apologize if it comes up twice.) What the Holy Spirit reveals is always confirmed in God's Word. Janae Janae |

Hank, What you say is absolutely true. But, the Holy Spirit is not a false teacher. He is God and He teaches us not only by use of the Holy Scriptures, but also by revelation. John 15:26: But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:" Janae |

Hank, you are correct, but Scripture is not the ONLY WAY God teaches us. Remember this verse? John 14:26: "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." The things He brings to our remembrance is the Scripture we have hidden in our hearts. But that is only one facet of His teaching. Janae |

Hello, Hank. I have had a night to rest from my assault I took here yesterday, so I am ready to continue. The reason I believe Jesus healed and performed other signs and miracles was twofold. First of all, I believe he wanted to get (and hold) their attention. But, God WANTED TO HEAL--Jesus healed EVERYONE THAT CAME TO HIM--He turned no one away. The reason God poured out His Spirit through the Book of Acts is because of this: John 14:16: "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;" God was starting the Church in Acts. That is my opinion. What is yours? Janae |

Hello, Tim. I did get a check in my spirit when I wrote that about the "trick question." I know that Kalos was trying to get me to say that the type of anointing I was refering to was not in the Bible. But, just because it does not lay it out plainly does not mean it is not "in the Bible." God pours out his Spirit all through Acts. For example, the word that Peter spoke in Acts 2 was anointed. The anointing breaks the yoke. God's Word is anointed. I hope you know that I do not think I am better than you because I have had these experiences. I just feel grateful to have had them, and spiritual things seem quite normal to me. We are all at different places in our walk with Christ, and maybe God brought me to this board to make you think about the Holy Spirit more. He is a real person and He does guide us into all truth. God's Word is true, yes; but, so is Holy Spirit revelation. Janae |

Hi, BradK. I know what you are all saying, and I know that you are purists in that if it is not in the Bible then you do not agree with it. But I know what I have personally experienced and I cannot discount that, nor do I want to. The Holy Spirit is a living person of the Trinity and He teaches us all things. HOW HE TEACHES IT is up to Him. Janae |

I know I have left questions unanswered. I did that intentionally because they were trick questions. I know what the Bible says about anointing. I also know what happens when the Holy Spirit shows up at your church service; or, what it is like to have your ministry or your song anointed by the Holy Spirit. I know what it is like to be healed. I know what it is like to see into the spirit realm. These are the things of God which must be experienced to be fully understood. God teaches/reaches us through His Word, yes, but He also teaches/reaches us through Holy Spirit revelation. Let me ask you something. Do you fast and pray? Do you experience Holy Spirit revelation in that way? Janae Janae |

I, too, am a member of one of the largest Pentacostal denominations in the country. Perhaps we are both members of the same denomination? My church is called "Believers' Tabernacle," and it is an Assembly of God Church. We experience the rich anointed presence of God regularly, and we do not take it lightly. We are humbled to be so blessed. It is an answer to prayer. Janae |

There are different types of anointing. One type of anointing is when a person places oil on their finger and touches it to your head and prays for you. That touching is called being anointed with oil. That is the anointing the Bible is referring to. We have all been anointed. But, there is another type of anointing that comes when God pours out His Spirit. There is healing when this anointing is present. Bodies are healed and hearts are changed. It is precious and sweet. There is nothing better than to be in the presence of God with the anointing. But it cannot be explained. In order to fully understand, one must experience the anointed presence of God. Janae |

Hello, Kalos. I always like hearing from you. You don't seem to understand. God is no respecter of persons. The anointing IS for all. I am not saying that some Christians are anointed and others are not. I am saying that God pours out His Spirit on whom He will. That pouring out is the anointing. It comes when God decides to release it. It is not a gift that it can be developed. It is an action by God through the Holy Spirit. You can pray and ask God for His anointing, but it is up to Him if He releases it or not. It is a pouring out and is an experience. Experiencing God, not just reading about Him. Janae |

Luke 4:18: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised," The anointing is something to be treasured. We must not take the anointing lightly. The Holy Spirit moved when I sang and touched the hearts of the hearers. They were crying and praising God. I can't explain HOW God does it, He just does it. Can you explain HOW EXACTLY God saves us through Christ's atoning blood? Of course not. We just know that He does it and that Jesus' death on the cross redeems us, we just accept it by faith. In the same way, God pours out His Spirit upon us. It is FELT and EXPERIENCED. But you have to be yielded to the Holy Spirit in order to receive it, and you receive it by faith. Walking in the Spirit to me is something different. That is choosing to walk in the Spirit by obeying God instead of the flesh. Janae |

Dear BradK, If you experience the anointing, you know it is real. One way I have experienced it is by singing solos in church. Sometimes God would anoint my song and the hearers would ALL be touched by the Holy Spirit. The anointing is to be respected and revered. It is not a "term," it is the Holy Spirit's seal of approval. Janae |

16 | To whom should we pay tithes? | 1 Tim 5:17 | Praise Be To God | 149481
Heather, Malachi 3:10 says: "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." Your church is the storehouse. You can present offerings above and beyond your tithe to other ministries, etc., after prayerful consideration, I would hope, but your tithe belongs to God and it should go into your own church. We rob God if we do not tithe. EVERYTHING IS HIS ANYWAY. He just wants to bless us and we tie His hands if we do not tithe. He wants to pour out His blessings upon His children. Tithing is a good sign of obedience to God. Janae |

17 | "Be about business in business" ? | Luke 12:42 | Praise Be To God | 148507
Proverbs 22:29 is also a good scripture regarding business: "Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men." Janae |

18 | Church sound system "way too loud" | 1 Cor 13:1 | Praise Be To God | 148052
Dear Kalos: One thing I want to mention which I thought was obvious, but I will mention it anyway. Lee needs to be praying about this. God can get the volume turned down permanently and prayer moves the hand of God. The church needs to be aware that Lee is suffering though. Perhaps he is not the only one. Perhaps many others have also mentioned it and something will be done. That must be tried first. God bless you. Janae |

19 | Church sound system "way too loud" | 1 Cor 13:1 | Praise Be To God | 148006
The only thing I can think of is to come later after the praise and worship time is over. But, there might still be more music after that, so he has no guarantee to be pain free. It seems to me that your friend has no other choice but to find another church, perhaps one with just organ or piano music. It is too bad, but sometimes these things just happen, and the only thing to do is to remove yourself from the situation. I hope this helps. Janae |

20 | who was the first of all prophets | Heb 11:5 | Praise Be To God | 147734
Dear Kalos, Thank you for your response to my post. The reason I said Melchizedek is because Melchizedek is a type of Christ, and as we all know Jesus Christ is the greatest prophet. That was my thinking. Janae |
