2 | Did Satan know God's plan for salvation | Bible general Archive 1 | PastorScott | 42220 | ||
You make a good point. Satan did try to kill Jesus, but he could not have know when his time was in order to kill him before it. We must not give Satan too much credit. He is a created angelic being and has limitations. 1 Peter Chapter one says that the mystery of the gospel and the coming of the Holy Spirit is something that the angels desire to "Look into". The angels didn't know of God's plan before he revealed it, how would Satan? Satan and the other fallen angels did know that Jesus was the son of God. They could have made and educated guess, but do you think that Satan would have inspired the Jews againts Jesus to have him crucified if he knew that it was part of his redemptive plan all along? Do you think that Satan would inhabit Judus and betray Jesus if he knew his actions would result in his death blow?Here are some verses to look at: 1 Corinthians 2:7 "But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory". (In context of Salvations plan) Colossians 1:26 "Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints". (Again speaking of Salvation) Romans 16:25 "Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began". 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." Satan is powerful, and cunning no doubt but he is still just a fallen angel, he has no power that God has not allowed him to have. I hope that you will continue to study and remember like the church of Berea we are to "study to see if these things are true" Don't listen to what I think, or my opinions only listen to the Word of God. God Bless |

The best answer that I have for this question is found in Ephesians "For by grace are you saved through faith, and yet not of yourselves it is the gift of God lest any man should boast" We did nothing to earn salvation it was a gift that came through faith. Salvation is totally dependent upon Christ's work on the cross and his resurrection from the dead. To say that we can lose our salvation would be to say that his payment for our sin was not enough and that his righteousness was not enough. If this was true salvation would be dependent upon our works and what we do not on what God has done! That is not the good news of the gospel! The good new is that Jesus paid it all. Read Colossians Chapter 2. Vs 8 tells us how we should live. vs 13 tells us what Jesus' death did. God's purpose throughout history has been to glorify himself. Ephesiand 2 says that we are examples of his grace and his glory. Why would he want to share his glory with someone else. If our salvation is depentent in any way on our actions than it is not a gift, we earn it, or we do not earn it. That's all. I would suggest you do some study on the Abrahamic covenent in Gen 12-17. It will shed some light upon the type of promise God has made to us (One party covenent) Keep Studying! Pastor s |
