1 | Why did Jesus pray to God? | NT general Archive 1 | MrsBinGA | 140502
Exodus, don't forget that God is triune, not one "Person" as many religions try to teach. Col 2:9 states: "For in him" (referring to Jesus) "dwelleth all the fulness of the GODHEAD bodily." Historical Christianity believes the following concerning God: within the Nature of the one true God exists three distinct persons, the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit - co-equal and co-eternal. With this in mind, when Jesus (The Word, or God the Son, who became flesh - John 1:1-18) dwelt on this earth, He prayed to God the Father. Jesus did NOT pray to Himself because He and the Father are totally distinct Persons of the triune God. There are many excellent posts on this Forum that discuss the Trinity in great detail. I know you will find their answers very helpful. |

2 | where does it say when jesus went to hel | Rev 1:18 | MrsBinGA | 115526
Norm, I fully agree with you that satan has no power over us in any area of our lives other than what God gives him. I am, however, curious about how satan has the "power" of spiritual death, as you seem to say Heb. 2:14 is referring to. Perhaps I'm ignorant on this, but I thought all of us, when we are physically born into this world, are "spiritually" dead as a result of sin. Our spirit-man becomes "spiritually alive" only when we are born-again through faith in Jesus Christ's substitutionary death on Calvary. If my thinking is true, then how can satan have the power of "spiritual" death? If my thinking is NOT true, then what is "spiritual death" and when are we in that condition? I'd appreciate yours thoughts/comments. Blessings, Mrs. B in Georgia |

3 | Shepherd's Chapel t.v. cult - need info | John 8:58 | MrsBinGA | 114543
Thank you for responding. I've read CARM's article, which is very good, but didn't have the "raptureready" website. I will definitely look into that. Also, my husband and I have done a lot of "online searching" using Yahoo, Google, and Dogpile search engines. This is how we've come up with the info we do have. I guess we'll just have to contact Shepherd's Chapel and ask for a catalog of their material and order some so we can have actually documentation from the "horse's mouth". |

4 | 2Tim 2:15 Study dispensationally? | 2 Timothy | MrsBinGA | 109410
KJ, You wrote: Always with prayer we need to study the bible correctly and intelligently as we are instructed by Paul. Amen to that! There wouldn't be so much error in the Body of Christ if people would study the "whole counsel of God" on a subject instead of taking a verse here and there and making a "doctrine" out of it. Blessings to you, Mrs. B in Georgia |

5 | Tara1 - Is Jesus true or false god? | OT general | MrsBinGA | 107396
Thank you for the compliment. If Tara1 is studying with JWs then she definitely is not reading the Bible - she's reading their materials which, as you know, is promoting their doctrine. JWs are not encouraged to read the Bible for themselves because only the "faithful and wise servant" (Watchtower) has the "authority" to interpret the Scriptures and then give the JW their "meat in due season." How sad that anyone would allow another person, organization, or church to keep them from a personal relationship with the Lord. Yesterday I was listening to an audio tape by Mick VanBuskirk (C.A.R.I.S. ministry) on the Triune God. Excellent, especially the Scriptures showing that the Holy Spirit is a Person, and not an "active force" as JWs are taught. Hopefully Tara1 will read our posts and the Holy Spirit will open her eyes to the truth of His Word. Blessings to you! Mrs. B |

6 | "What did Jesus look like?" | Ex 20:4 | MrsBinGA | 57058
Vanessa, you keep on sowing seeds in the lives of those teens and don't let anyone tell you to stop! I've listened to many testimonies on 700 Club of former atheists and skeptics who are now born-again Christians. Josh McDowell is one. I bet his heart wasn't open to the gospel message the first time he heard it. And I wonder where his soul would be now if after the first attempt of sharing the Word with Josh the person "went on to the someone else whose heart is open." I also heard the author of "A Skeptic's Search For God" share his testimony. Can't remember his name but I'm sure the book is still offered on CBN.com website. As far as what Jesus looked like, well, He was Jewish. Wouldn't it stand to reason He would have looked like an average Jewish man: olive complextion, dark hair and eyes, beard. Isa. 53:2 says there is nothing in His outward appearance that would make us "desire Him" ("delight" in Him, per Strong's Exhaustive Concordance). So, you keep on reaching out to those precious lost souls. "One sows, another waters" but it is God Who gives the increase! |

7 | What's Jesus' position? | 1 Cor 15:27 | MrsBinGA | 56331
Hi Hank! You wrote: "Few of us have not met representatives from both cults at our front door -- and will likely meet them there again. It's a possible opportunity to minister to them if we equip ourselves to do it." A hardy "Amen!" I have many Christian friends who are former JWs and Mormons. ALL of them have told me, "Every time a 'Christian' would slam the door in my face, it would only reinforce my belief that I was 'in the truth'. I was 'being persecuted for my faith.'" If we, as blood-bought children of God, aren't able to "defend the faith", we can at least tell these misguided JWs and Mormons what Jesus has done for us personally! My above mentioned friends have told me over and over: as they went door-to-door, the ONLY thing they couldn't argue with and would cause them to ponder in their heart was people loving them enough to share testimonies of what Jesus means to them personally. JWs have no testimony. Mormons "testimony" is "they have a burning in their bosom that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God." How sad!! So, don't worry about being "equipped". We ARE equipped to tell everyone what Jesus has done for us! Mrs. B |

8 | Where can we go online to read the NWT? | 1 Cor 15:27 | MrsBinGA | 56330
Hi Retxar! May I suggest you find a copy of the WTS's New Interlinear Translation of the New Testament, in addition to the NWT. The Interlinear edition is an EXCELLENT source to help JW's see how the WTS has deliberately mistranslated the Greek text to fit it's own doctrines. That translation is probably THE most damaging publication the WTS has ever produced. It clearly reveals the lengths they've gone to to mistranslate the Greek text and proprogate their heretical teachings. If you're not able to find a copy at a thrift store, you could possibly order one from the WTS, go to a local Kingdom Hall and buy one, or contact the many Christian organizations online which have a ministry to JW's. Blessings to you, Mrs. B in Georgia |

9 | Who does God speak to in a dream? | OT general | MrsBinGA | 55540
Angelface, I truly didn't mean to offend you. I was trying to encourage you to research the questions for yourself and thereby having a deeper knowledge of the Word, instead of replying on others to find the answers for you. Please forgive me.
10 | In the Andes, name the Laws of the New | Ex 20:10 | MrsBinGA | 53642
In the Andes - I've greatly enjoyed reading your posts on this subject. They are totally scriptural! It's so sad to hear Christians trying to bring OT truths into this dispensation of Grace and thereby putting themselves back under the Law. That is "works of the law", which, as you know, Galatians 2:16 says "by the works of the law shall no man be justified." You may have given the following references in one of your posts. If so, forgive me for not remembering, and thus repeating them. Gal 5:14: "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." I, for one, would almost rather keep the 613 laws of the O.T. than try to "love my neighbor". That ONE law ain't easy! **smile** I love what Gal 3:22-25 says about the Law: "But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe. Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law". What could be more clear about the purpose of the law? It was given to LEAD US to Christ! Also, Rom 10:4: "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." And, Gal 5:4: "Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace". (Hmmmm . . . how many sermons have I have heard using that phrase "fallen from grace" to "prove" a born-again believer can "lose their salvation." Verses taken out of context are a pretext! **smile**) I'm thankful I am in Christ and that ".. by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses" (Acts 13:39). Everything the law required of me has been fulfilled BY Him; therefore I AM complete because I am IN Him (Col. 2:10). Resting in what Jesus did FOR me, MrsB in Georgia |

11 | I would like to reply to Timothy Paul. | John 1:1 | MrsBinGA | 53474
Timothy Paul, if Jesus and the Father are the same person, then what do you do with Rev. 4:2-5:12? Chapter 4 describes the One Who is sitting on the throne. Then chapter 5:6-7 states: "And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne." Who is the "Lamb" who comes and takes the scroll out of the hand of Him who sits on the throne? Jesus! But if Jesus and the Father are the same person, then Who is sitting on the throne? Does Jesus sit on the throne and then come and take the scroll out of His own hand? Even though our finite minds cannot possibily comprehend, much less explain, the Triune Godhead, the Bible clearly reveals it. Be blessed, MrsB |

13 | when do I spake in tounges | Acts | MrsBinGA | 49066
I've never understood why all born-again believers whole-heartedly acknowledge the Fruit of the Spirit, which is His nature, is still available today, but His gifts (power) are not. How can we only accept part of Him? And how do we know there are no living apostles? God tells us in Eph. 4:11-13 that He gave them to us, along with 4 other ministries, and He tells us why He gave them: "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:" Is the Body of Christ mature or unified in the faith? I don't think so. And if we say there are no living apostles, then what about prophets, evangelists, teachers, or pastors? Where do we draw the line? |
