Thank you Makarios, that helps a lot. It looks like they were Calvinists. JUST KIDDING!

Thanks Radioman, I think you've hit the nail on the head! I'm actually quite happy to see that most people do believe the same way (from most of the commnets). Thanks, Monica57

Charis, I think this is an important issue because many people who are not Christians look at Christians who sin terribly, and wonder how something like that could happen if indeed Christianity was a powerful religion. The Spanish Inquisition is a good example. If the religious authorities accepted Jesus, how could they do such things? Also, I've had personal experience with people who profess to have accepted Jesus, but behave blatantly evil. After searching the scriptures, I believe OSAS is a false doctrine, which is explained in 2 Tim 4:3 and James 2:19. And most unfortunately, they are believing something which is false. Luckily, I believe most accept Jesus and DO obey his commandments (John 14:15).

ig8ball, I think you're right on this whole issue. I don't know why people would think they can be saved, continue to sin defiantly, and then go to Heaven. Jesus said there was only one unforgiveable sin, and Numbers 15:30 clearly defines that sin (blasphemey) as continuing defiantly in sin. Jesus also said "if you love me, you will obey my commandments." It's not only supported by the Bible, but also logical. Jesus took all our sins upon himself. Everytime we continue defiantly in sin we are saying we don't care how much we hurt him. That would prove we don't love him. |
