1 | Christ dying only for elect? | Rom 5:6 | Mikeytj | 6151
My friend(s), Thank you Nolan for a very nice reply. I freely admit that I stepped in with my own two cents worth --- :-) -- ok mabye a buck or two LOL.. and I admit in this post to being a part of a divisive appearance.. I did not want to leave any imperssion that good honest scriptural debate was not good. I enjoy reading and researching, and studying in prayer the things I find. I guess I get wound up pretty good when we as Christians start getting into name calling, and other forms of degradation only because we think or believe with all our heart that ours is the only way to believe and or get to heaven. I will do my best to let others find why my faith, and my beliefs and feelings from this prayerfull study and learning come about, and hopefully how my personal one on one relationship with God through Jesus Christ does and means so very much for me,and my life. There are many many that are sicker than I have been in the past 4 months, but I have just come through a time of illness, surgery, etc., etc., and so on that I can not imagine going through without our God. My blessings are many and enormous, and I know that each of us out here has many of their own through Jesus. Let the world see our discussions, which are great, but let the world feel our blessings and salvation, that they too will share in all that we have. Thanks and I'll try to keep mine down to a couple of cents worth in the future ..... In His Service Mike http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/7041/ |

2 | Christ dying only for elect? | Rom 5:6 | Mikeytj | 6133
This having been my first post to a forum in awhile, I decided to sit back and see what came up. It seems there are only a few that comment here. As (it seems) always is the case there are strong opinions from many views...all that are Christians. Some will say they believe in Jesus,,that He died for thier sins.....But listen up now,,He died only for thier sins and the rest of us have no chance of experiencing anything related to God, the Bible, Grace, etc.. I have to admit that I have always wondered why the folks with this belief feel such a strong need to so forcefully share this view. Unless these folks want to be raised to a level that the rest of us will somehow realize that we are beneath them, and that we should somehow serve them or worship the because of thier singular place in society of God's ONLY chosen people???? Then, of course, there are those who would say that God's love, through Jesus Christ, forgives all of mankind, and that all will be saved, so why worry or even make an effort to find out about God and what He has in mind for us. Then there are those of us that have found that God does in fact love each and every one of us. That He does in fact want each and everyone of us to be with Him for eternity. That each and everyone of us is in fact totally unworthy of His Grace, forgivness, or any form of His salvation. But we also have found out that He knows we don't have the ability to be as He would have us be, but in spite of that, through His love, provides us with the one thing we are able to do, and that is to read/hear his word, and in co-operation with the teachings of His word, His inspiration through the Holy Spirit, and using our own will and intelligence, come to Him through Jesus Christ, through faith and belief that God's word, Jesus Christ, and all that God tells us is true. I've been told that I'm trying to humanize the Bible....If God and Jesus are not about us humans, then what are they about? I've been told that in Jeremiah that God was only speaking to one person, and how dare I put myself in that category or league, yet throughout the Bible God and Jesue speak to one person and are quoted as providing the message to all of us. It was said that only in this and a very few instances did God have anything to do with a person starting out,,(in the mother's womb). I would ask that after the physical miracles have happened, if God has nothing to do with us, where does our soul come from? (Wow that one will spring up some posts I'm sure). I ask also if God foreknows us, but has nothing to do with the beginning of us, then explain how "The Chosen" come about...Mabye we should come to believe that only the Chosen, predestined few are placed in the womb by God, and the rest of (many billions if we read things right) are but accidents or soul less or?? The bottom line here is I read Christians fighting with Christians, using a few words or versus here or there that when put together make up a view, when we should be finding ways to share the blessings we have, to work together instead of in division, and to take a united stand the Jesus Christ is in fact real, both then and now, and bring the joys and blessings we each have from this to the forefront for all to share and enjoy. It's sad to see so much infighting and division amongst Christians (it sure makes it hard for people wanting to learn and find out about what this is all about). Thanks for all the responses to my post, and I have and will continue to read, investigate, and join in sharing all of our views and blessings together. Praise Him, God Bless each of you, and may all we do be In His name and glory. Mike |

Jerimiah 1:5 God tells us that He knew us before He placed us in our Mother's womb. He knew us personaly, not of us, not He had heard of us, but He knew us. The Bible is about God's immense love for us (don't turn this into why did He do this or why did he do that if He loves us). To say that God would intentionally take someone He knows and loves and place them here on earth with the sole purpose of destroying them and sending them to hell, just so those that deem they are included in the "predestined or chosen" group can feel good about themselves and thier stature, etc., is beyond comprehension. Could God do something like this if He desired, sure He could. Would He,,,,that would be a complete turn about of what the message of the Bible is all about. We're here, God knows us personally, and loves us, and we have the right (God given) to chose whether or not to have a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. I read one of these posts where someone indicated they did not want free will,,,,,well freind you have free will, whether you want it or not, and if you believe, because someone has told you that your predestined by God to be saved, that your ok, you better check into it very soon. All who are foreknown are predestined (Jer 1:5 tells us that all are foreknown), but only those who choose to come to God through Jesus Christ (excersising thier own free will) will receive His salvation. |
