Blessings to you and your wonderful family, Robert. Yes I agree with you and this is what I came up with. I. THE KIND OF MAN HE WAS. A. Religious: He was a Pharisee. He was a ritualist. Luke 18:12 B. He was a man that recognized the miralecs of Christ as being of God. John 3:2 C. He was a man that needed to be saved. John 3:3,4 II. How this need could be met: The new birth was made possible by the water (Wor Of God) and the Spirit. John 3:5; Cp. 1 Peter 1:23; John 16:7-9 C. Why his need could be met. He led Nicodemus from the known to the unknown (The account of the brazen serpent Nicodemus knew well, for he was a master of Isreal. John 3:10) 1. He told him why the new birth was possible. 5 | Jesus' name baptism? | Acts 2:38 | Lourdes Figueroa | 62712
Hi Charis, God Bless you. In response to your question, I was not able to find any reference to the water baptism in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit but in Matt. 28:19. Now I don't know if Jesus' disciples were being disobedient to this command, but if they were wouldn't the Bible have say it. Strong #907 Greek (baptizo) means to baptize, to wash #908 Greek (baptisma) means baptism #909 Greek (baptismos) means baptism, ceremonial washing, to wash. So you can see it depends what kind of baptism it is refering too. When you are baptize in water it would refer a washing away of the old and being in the new, also it simbolizes the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Now when Jesus, Paul and Peter said recieve the baptism of the Holy Spirit I would assume that it means to recieve power to witness to others and to be faithful to Jesus Christ no matter the consequences that might come against us. Take for example Peter I would assume that he was bapitize in water because if I'm not mistaken he was one of John the baotist disciple, when Jesus was to be crucify Peter denied Jesus 3 times. It wasn't after he recieved the baptism of the Holy Spirit (power) that he was able to stand firm and be a true witness to Jesus Christ. I hope that this can help you in some way and if it isn't I only thing to do is prayer so that God thru His Spirit and reveal to us the correct answer in the name of Jesus Christ. God Bless you always. Lourdes |

6 | What proof? | Gen 1:1 | Lourdes Figueroa | 62566
I'm sorry that you feel that no one cares about where Cain's wife came from, since it is part of the Bible, God's inspirate Word, and also it gives us an idea of where we came from and how we are all related in some way or another. The Bible clearly states that when Cain was driven from the land and from the presence of God he said that he would be a restless wanderer and that whoever found him would kill him. (Gen 4:14) That lets me know that there was more people on earth besides Adam, Eve, Abel and Cain. In Genesis 5:2 you can see that it states that when Adam had lived 130 years, he had son in his own likeness which was Seth. In v.4 it states that after Seth was born Adam lived 800 more years in which he had OTHER sons and daughters, a total of 930 years that Adam had lived that's a long time for the world to be populated. The NIV Study Bible comments that Cain must have married one of his sisters, etc. Such a relationship was necessary in the beginning when God said in Genesis 1:28 to be fruitful and multiply. Later, because the results of the fall increased and interfamily marriages multiplied the biological weakness in the children, this type of marriage was forbidden (Leviticus 18:6,9) Now the Dake KJV comments that when Adam was on earth populaton rapidly increase so that there could have been approximately 500,000 people by this time. Thats why in Genesis 4:17 it states that after Cain knew his wife he built a city and to build it requires many people. So every son od man had sons and daughters and stared branches of the human race. (Genesis 4:15-24; 5:1-32; 6:1-2) I'm sorry but everything that the Bible said is important and we should care about what it said. |

9 | The Spirit of God active in creation | Gen 1:2 | Lourdes Figueroa | 62439
May God bless you all, and may He always give us His wisdom and His understanding while we study His Word.(Colossians 1:9-11)That is correct but I would like to comment a little on the "Spirit of God". Genesis 1:1 said that "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." And in verse 2 it said "The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God (Jesus) was hovering over the face of the waters." The NKJV-New Spirit Filled Life Study Bible comments that the "Spirit of God" (Jesus) was "sweeping" or "moving" rather than staying stationary. The Holy Spirit is the "executive arm" of the Trinity, so He was quite active as God spoke each word. No one can fully understand the secrets of the Bible unless God reveals to them its interpretation (Daniel 2:11, 18-23), but Isaiah 45:18 said "For thus says the LORD, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD (Jesus), and there is no other. If We go to the book of John 1:1 it says "In the beginning (just like in Genesis 1:1)was the Word (Jesus), and the Word (Jesus) was with God, and the Word (Jesus) was God." v.2 "He was in the beginning with God." v.3 ""ALL things were made through Him (Jesus), and WITHOUT Him nothing was made that was made. Now go to v.10 which says "He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him." v.14 "And the Word (Jesus) became flesh and dwelt (literally means "tabernacled.") among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." Now turn to Colossians 1:15 said "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation." v.16 "For by Him (Jesus) ALL things were created that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. ALL things were created through Him and FOR Him. v.17 "And He is before all things, and in Him ALL things consist." v.18 "And He is the head of the body, the church (thats us), who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in ALL things He may have the preeminence.(kingdom)" So I can say that the Father , the Son, and the Holy Spirit together as One made the heavens and the earth. God bless. |
