2 | Are we ever "worthy" of God's love? | John 3:16 | KAS | 52009
This question originates out of a sermon I heard a while back that I really had a problem with. I asked a related question under Matthew 22:39. I had a link on that one to an on-line audio of the message. I was asking for some outside ears to listen and tell me what they heard. When I raised concerns about the message I was told I had a "muddled" understanding and that I had misunderstood what was being taught. I don't think I did. My question "Are we ever worthy of God's love?" came from one of the statements made in the sermon. So far one person has listened to it. I'm sure you have better things to do than listen to online sermons and give feedback, but if you could, I would GREATLY appreciate some feedback. It's caused my wife and I some real stress in confronting what we saw as plain and simple untruth. It hasn't been too comfortable on Sunday mornings since we spoke up. So if I'm wrong I'd like someone to show me from scripture. If you listen to the message and then wonder what I objected to, I could send you a copy of what I found objectionable. Here's the link to the message if you have some time. http://www.telusplanet.net/public/deep/matthew22.htm Thanks Ken |

3 | Are we ever "worthy" of God's love? | John 3:16 | KAS | 51869
Let me try to clarify. Scripture gives a long description of what we are as a result of being "in Christ." For example, God's child (Jn 1:12), Christ's friend (Jn 15:15), justified (Rom. 5:1), a member of Christ's body (1 Cor 12:27), redeemed and forgiven (Col 1:14), complete in Christ (Col 2:10) etc. When we learn who we are in Christ, should we conclude that we are now "loveable?" Moreover, does our new position in Christ make us more "loveable" to God than we were before we chose to follow Him? Does that narrow it down? Ken |

4 | Are we ever "worthy" of God's love? | John 3:16 | KAS | 51724
So even with all the things that we are when we are "in Christ," can or should we ever think of ourselves as "loveable" or worthy of his love?

That's a very good point. Nothing like the good use of context to clarify a passage :-) Ken |

I could do it either way. You could just click on the link (or paste to your browser) and listen on-line. It's a big file even though its an .mp3. If you want I can break it into a couple of parts to make it easier to load. Whatever works best for you would be great. Thanks Ken |

11 | Does Mt. 22:39 assume self-love? | Matt 22:39 | KAS | 51184
Thanks Prayon. The reason I'm asking is because of a message given in my church. We've been between Senior Pastors for the past year and a half and we had a sort-of guest speaker. She's on staff at our church on a part-time basis and I think she's a psychologist. Well, I stated my concerns to her but instead of responding to the Scripture I raised, the Executive pastor (who's been holding things together) took authority in the situation and said I misunderstood what was being said. The result was no response to the concerns I had. I'm quite certain that I did not misunderstand what was being taught but I WISH I could have someone listen to it who's completely unconnected. I just want to know what others think is the core teaching in this message. I have the sermon saved as an .mp3. I know 30 minutes is a long time to invest in a complete stranger but if there's ANY possibility, I would REALLY appreciate it. I'm going to send this same message to "Steve." It seems you two have different views on this and I'd be interested to see if you both "hear" the same things being said. The fact you have two opposing views would probably be a good thing. Let me know. Thanks Ken |
