1 | Non-denominational theology? | John 3:16 | ICQ-GOD | 92548
Justme, I can't speak from your experience but I can from mine.First of all let me say that I have been an avid student of God's Word since I was saved 33 years ago; so my foundation is pretty solid.I have been attending non-denom. churches for several years and have found nothing like what you mentioned(required tithing, etc.)I'm not saying that they don't exist but I havn't run across them.In fact the churches I've attended have been about as theologically square as can be found.I am not opposed to attending a main-line church if they meet my spiritual needs through the word and worship and evangelization.I have found that many non-denom. churches were once Baptist,Methodist and the like, who broke away from their denomination because they were too liberal. When you've got the Episcopalians ordaining gay men as bishops and other churches who can't seem to interpret the Bible correctly anymore, you can understand my point. So until I find a main-line church that exceeds what I find in the non-denom. churches, I for one, will stick with them. They arn't perfect but they are the best I have found.
2 | Non-denominational theology? | John 3:16 | ICQ-GOD | 92529
To Justme: I found out pretty quickly after registering as a new user to look at the date of the original posting. I had already sent my response before noticing the date. Regarding Calvary Chapel, you are probable right. Many non-denom. churches start mini-denominations as a way of connecting and being accountable to the Body; which is a good thing. Thanks for your response. |
