Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith. Grace be with you" |

8 | Need to qualify the acknowledgement? | Heb 10:14 | Gal5:16 | 108220
You could not just acknowledge it and leave it at that, you had to add that the passage needed to be read in context, which it does, but why state the obvious unless you are saying "yes, but..." 13 | Perfection possible through the Spirit! | Matt 5:48 | Gal5:16 | 105604
We are commanded to be perfect. God has provided the way through the Holy Spirit (see Galatians 5:16). That is how Jesus overcame the world; He had the Spirit without limit (John 3:34). Saying that perfection is not possible is denying the power of the Holy Spirit (see 2Timothy 3:6). In other words, if perfection is not possible for us, then Christ did not accomplish it either. We have the same Spirit as Christ if we have died to the sinful nature and are born again and are controlled by a new nature - the very nature of God. Those who God knew before the creation of the world, he predestined to be conformed into the likeness of His Son (see Romans 8:29) |

14 | Relation to Galatians 3:16... | Gen 17:7 | Gal5:16 | 105591
Sorry, I am new at this site, couldn't figure out how to follow up, and ended up creating another user. Anyway, I agree with all of your comments, and related verses. What I am trying to get at is why the English translation of this verse (Genesis 17:7) says "their" refering to the Seed after Abraham, when Paul is saying there is no "they"; the Promise applies to Abraham and Jesus Christ. We find out in Galatians that those who are in Christ are also included, but that does not make Christ more than one. I am thinking that the original Hebrew must use a different word that goes something like: "I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you throughout HIS generations for an everlasting covenant..." His generations are all of those who have been born into the family of God since His resurrection, and those who had lived by faith prior to his coming. Still searching... |
