Dear Brothe Brad, The salvation of Judas in your mind may be questionable, so lets look in another direction. What about the apostle Paul? Did he believe in eternal security? It would seem through these passages that it was necessary to strive for, fight for, and keep his body under subjection, to insure not his salvation, but rather that he wouldn't backslide. Paul told us not to be high-minded but to fear: Romans 11:17-21 17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; 18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. 19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. 20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: 21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Philippians 3:10-14 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. 12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 1 Corinthians 9:24 24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. And if Paul isn't good enough, what did Peter mean by: 2 Peter 2:20-22 20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. The reason once saved always saved concerns me is the fact that many people who had a spiritual experience early in life, (not necessarily Salvation) are being denied the truth. Some liberal preacher has brain washed them into believing everything is all right because you once confessed. The grow up to be a drunk, but a saved drunk. They grow up to be a fornicator but a saved fornicator. They grow up to be an adulterer, but a saved adulterer. All because of an experience they probably didn't fully understand, and instead of someone loving them enough to tell them you need to repent, they are told you will always be saved. A Christan once said, "I can die in the arms of a harlot and still go to heaven, because I'm eternally secure." When the scripture plainly tells us, 1 Cor. 6: 9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. It is amazing to me that you ignore some key words in the very scriptures you use. NOTICE: NASB Luke 22:3 And Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, BELONGING to the number of the twelve. NASB John 13:2 During supper, the devil having already PUT INTO THE HEART of Judas Iscariot, [the son] of Simon, to betray Him, KJV John 6:70 Jesus answered them, Have not I CHOSEN you twelve, and one of you is a devil? NASB John 13:26-27 So when He had dipped the morsel, He took and gave it to Judas, [the son] of Simon Iscariot. After the morsel, Satan THEN ENTERED INTO HIM. AMPLIFIED John 13:26-27 So when He had dipped the morsel of bread [into the dish], He gave it to Judas, Simon Iscariot's son. THEN AFTER [he had taken] the bit of food, Satan ENTERED INTO AND TOOK POSSESSION OF [Judas]. KJV John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is LOST but the son of perdition [Judas Iscariot -- the one who is now doomed to destruction, destined to be lost (AMPLIFIED)]; that the scripture might be fulfilled. *You have to have possession of something before you can lose it* KJV Acts 1:25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas BY TRANSGRESSION FELL, that he might go to his own place. FELL FELL FELL FELL FELL What about Mark 3:13 ΒΆ And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him. 14 And he ORDAINED TWELVE, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to PREACH, 15 And to have POWER to heal sicknesses, and to CAST OUT DEVILS: Satan cannot cast out Satan, or else his kingdom is divided. If we are saved and nothing can ever change that, then why would God bother giving us any other New Testament books after the Gospels. If there is no enduring, no steadfastness, no watching and praying, no relationship, then why even bother with this thing called Christianity? Why would Jesus even bother telling us to "watch and pray for in such an hour as you think not the Son of Man commeth (He was talking to believers)? |

The letters to the 7 Churches is indeed a waring of the coming judgement of God. It is written to the CHURCHES not heathens. This scripture I used is not taken out of context, all the belivers at Sardis are acknowledged. I know thy works! There is a promise made to the faithful I will not blot out your names, but the whole tone of each letter to the churches (except for the Philidelphia Church) is one of repent and return. Return from your backslidden condition. Consider each churches rebukes: Rev. 2 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. Rev.2 10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Rev. 2 16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. Rev.2 22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. 23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. 24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. 25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. 26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: Rev. 3 3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Rev. 3 11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. Rev.3 20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. 22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Did you notice some of the words used "hold fast, be faithful, he that overcometh, Watch, like a thief, these scriptures are a warning to be ready! Brother Brad, How can "depart from THE FAITH not be dealing with salvation? Isn't there only one FAITH? And Judas was just as saved as any of the other disciples. If anybody would be questionable as far as saved is concerned we could easily condemn all the disciples. Remember when Jesus rebuked Peter "get behind me Satan" and the name so familiar with Thomas (doubting). Jesus called them qualified them and sent saved men out to preach the gospel, heal, and cast out devils. Truly the scripture foretold of the betrayer, but any of the twelve could have been the one. The fact is that Judas gave place to the Devil and therefore he was the one. Joh 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. I don't want to give the impression that our salvation can't be secure, I just want to express the fact that some belive salvation is a one time deal, there in no need to have a relationship with God and his Son, and this is refuted throughout all of scripture. There is no scriptural evidence that suggests we can't backslide! We don't have to, but it is possible. And indeed the grace of God is more than able to keep us as well as save us, but God will never force us. You used Titus 2:11-12, and that is the issue I've tried to point out to many. Grace has a lesson to teach and it is that if you are saved you are activly saved it isn't a passive experience. You will be zealous of good works, dening ungodliness and worldly lusts, living soberly, righteously, and Godly in this present world. It won't be I was saved when I was 12, and it really doesn't matter how I live now! That only spits in the face of Jesus because that type of lifestyle expresses that there is no power in his blood to convert the sinner.
