2 | is the seed non-human? | Dan 2:43 | Country Girl | 133532
I must admit this controversy about life from the test tube of a scientist sometime in the future is probably going to be a very severe problem for our generations in the future, maybe even our grandkids or our great-grandkids. Suffice it to say at the current rate of progress in this field of genetics, my wife and I were motivated to teach our boys as solid a faith in God as possible. We talked about this at length and spent many nights in prayer about it. Here's the bottom line I presented to my family. Even when and if that day does appear and some strange new form of life does progress and graduate from a scientist's test tube, it won't shake my faith. That's because I read my Bible and in Genesis, it says "God created..." the whole universe and everything in it. That means He took nothing, an absolute void and created everything without the modern advent of science, tools and thousands of years of experienmentaion. To man, He gave the gift of intellect and the tools to make his world of tools and science. So this latest development of science doesn't shake my faith and I did my best to instill that same degree of devotion and faith in our sons. That's about all I can recommend to all of us. Each of us must study and think about this because this storm of controversy is coming along with all the legal and moral consequences so we need to steel ourselves to anchor ourselves in our faith to God. I don't really think there will be much of a way of retarding this kind of progress as it's always been difficult to stop this kind of ocean of development with mankind in the past. But we do need to cling to the "Rock of Ages" and train up our young people to do likewise. The continuing trend to disrepect God and leave Him behind in this scientific onslaught will not be pretty and I'm a big fan of science, astronomy, etc. I do sincerely hope this post is helpful and somewhat uplifting to everyone reading it. God's people are all to be encouraged to be faithful. God bless. Rowdy |

4 | explane the book of esther to me | Esth 1:1 | Country Girl | 133359
It seems that you left out the most dramatic climax of Ester's story. Haman (the bad guy) in the end get his just reward just like a modern movie. Esth 9:20 Then Mordecai recorded these events, and he sent letters to all the Jews who were in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, both near and far, Esth 9:21 obliging them to celebrate the fourteenth day of the month Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same month, annually, Esth 9:22 because on those days the Jews rid themselves of their enemies, and it was a month which was turned for them from sorrow into gladness and from mourning into a holiday; that they should make them days of feasting and rejoicing and sending portions of food to one another and gifts to the poor. Esth 9:23 Thus the Jews undertook what they had started to do, and what Mordecai had written to them. Esth 9:24 For Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the adversary of all the Jews, had schemed against the Jews to destroy them and had cast Pur, that is the lot, to disturb them and destroy them. Esth 9:25 But when it came to the king's attention, he commanded by letter that his wicked scheme which he had devised against the Jews, should return on his own head and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows. I'll let you elaborate if you'd like. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

6 | why was the thief saved without baptism? | Luke 23:43 | Country Girl | 133270
As I've said in several posts in the past, I'm firmly convinced that God knows His Word does NOT provide every answer to every question we could possibly think up. We just know and are assured that He does answer ALL the questions we NEED to have answered so as to go Home to Heaven. We've all discovered some very tough topics that just defy truly clear answers so I'll settle for your position and resolve to keep studying and praying on the matter. I'm also thankful to Him that it's not hinged on salvation one way or the other. I would encourage all who may be reading to study ALL of God's Word and draw your own conclusions. That's one thing that the Bible is very clear about from Peter: 1 Pet 3:14 But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. AND DO NOT FEAR THEIR INTIMIDATION, AND DO NOT BE TROUBLED, 1 Pet 3:15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; 1 Pet 3:16 and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame. I'm sure you already know that part of the Greek meaning behind the word "defense" means using our logical minds. So this is most certainly an endorsement from our Lord that we ARE commanded to use our intellect to deduce certain conclusions from His Word. We just have to be thorough and draw the right conclusion after studying ALL of what He says on each respective subject. Blessings to you, my dear friend. Country Girl |

As a supplement to my previous thought, I might throw this in. No matter how they're mixed up or who is responsible for the mixing (confusion) as long as our first reaction is to go to God's Word for clarification, we'll be well on our way toward the real answer. So in spite of all the abuse, the misinterpretations and other misuses, God's Word, our Bible will endure forever. I'm thankful to God that He is such an incredible Author, so as to write such a Book and then protect Her throughout all time. What a Treasure. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

8 | What is the biblical def of apostle | Luke 6:13 | Country Girl | 133228
Just my one and a half cents' worth. There's a couple more points that could be thrown in: First: Acts 1:20 "For it is written in the book of Psalms, 'LET HIS HOMESTEAD BE MADE DESOLATE, AND LET NO ONE DWELL IN IT'; and, 'LET ANOTHER MAN TAKE HIS OFFICE.' Acts 1:21 "Therefore it is necessary that of the men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us- Apparently, these men agreed with Peter that they must fulfill the prophecy. Second: 1 Cor 15:6 After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; 1 Cor 15:7 then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; 1 Cor 15:8 and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also. 1 Cor 15:9 For I am the least of the apostles, and not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 1 Cor 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me. Apparently from vs 8, Paul didn't consider himself a legitimate apostle so one could argue that he is the odd man out and Mathias was part of the proper 12. Ultimately, I don't really think this basic question at the beginning of this thread can be answered Biblically this side of Judgment Day but I just want to try and complete the picture. Blessings to you all. Country Girl |

9 | why was the thief saved without baptism? | Luke 23:43 | Country Girl | 133227
You seemed to have left out a very important detail of this discussion and these words are from Christ himself: John 3:4 Nicodemus *said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born, can he?" John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. John 3:6 "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John 3:7 "Do not be amazed that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' John 3:8 "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit." I've mentioned this kind of logic before but I'll repeat myself yet again. When the Bible teaches two or more different ways to answer a particular question such as this, it behooves one to be thorough and study all of what Scripture says about it. Now readily enough, everyone knows about Paul's statement: "one faith, one baptism,... But then the Bible also clearly states there are two different kinds of baptism cited within the Scriptures which were apparently applicable in their day when these Words were written. So we're left with a puzzle. Oviously Paul's words about "one baptism" were issued for guidance to ALL christians throughout all the age or this dispensation. The one single baptism that we can know for certain is indeed applicable to ALL christians is the one as Jesus referred to in being born again and thus the phrase "born again christian." Like I've mentioned before the age of miracles was a temporary one in this Christian dispensation. The baptism of the Holy Spirit was the primary source for these miraculous powers so since the Apostles, Cornelius and his family were the only ones blessed with these miraculous abilities from this primary source, it is perfectly logical to conclude that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is no longer applicable in this day and time. This also is in harmony with Paul's teaching in 1 Cor as there tends to be much strife and immature bickering between christians when they are blessed with these powers. I think it is correctly inferred from all this that God never really meant for us as His children to have these miraculous powers throughout this dispensation because in addition to the strife, it takes away from our development of our faith. If we had physical manifestations or demonstrations of miracles all the time like the Jews did in their world, they would become commonplace like they did then. The worst thing is that they lost their respect for God as shown at the very giving of the 10 Commandments to Moses. God wants us to grow up spiritually and learn to come to Him in simple faith based on what we know to be Bible based facts and the historical records that match them so perfectly. So, my friend, I must conclude the one baptism that's so important to Paul is the same watery grave of baptism important to today's christian. I hope this is all clear. Blessings to you. Country Girl PS: I know you know this being the learned Bible student you are but I need to mention for everyone else's benefit. The conclusion cited above is shared now and has been promulgated by christians by the tens of millions plus throughout all 2000 years of the church's existence. PSS: As to why our Lord didn't make this more clear i.e. as in a Standard Operating Procedure or a manual, etc. I'd have to refer you to God Himself upon Judgment Day. |

10 | Why does God send storms? | Gen 3:17 | Country Girl | 133225
If I might, I thought I might interject. I'm not exactly sure to what you're referring but you seem to be questioning some of the instances where God's official representatives meted out certain punishments for sinful activities. Surely you're not questioning God's judgment in commissioning these men as they made their judgments with complete and perfect justice since they had the Holy Spirit to guide them. This is just merely another chapter in God's long running series of handling these kinds of affairs in the same way he handled Uzzah, Nadab and Abihu, King Saul, King David, Jonah, Sodom and Gomorrah and on and on. The list is far too long. God hands out judgments as he sees fit as He created us and we are simply the created for His pleasure. Notice Jesus had that same ability and potential but He seemed to restrain Himself as He came to seek and save the lost. If you don't mind, I'd like to have you clarify yourself and make your question as posted much more plain. Please clarify. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

11 | Why does God send storms? | Gen 3:17 | Country Girl | 133160
There's no scripture that could be used to support the idea as cited in your question. Instead I would cite Matt 5:45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. God doesn't use the forces of nature to punish as He is NOT "a respector of persons." It's on Judgment Day that all will get the reward in Heaven or the their condemnation to Hell. Blessings to you. 13 | What are ways to stay free from strife? | 2 Tim 2:15 | Country Girl | 133111
I would say reading and re-reading all scriptures that encourage the art of peace making would be a good start. One of them is from Paul in Eph 2:14 For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, Eph 2:15 by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, Eph 2:16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity. Eph 2:17 AND HE CAME AND PREACHED PEACE TO YOU WHO WERE FAR AWAY, AND PEACE TO THOSE WHO WERE NEAR; Eph 2:18 for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. Eph 2:19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, The most important aspect of this is to realize that there's always going to be a similar wall separating us from God as long as we have on-going sins in our lives with no indications of repentance on our part. AND it's only by the Grace and Forgiving Love from God that any of us have a chance of going to Heaven. If you know of some topic of controversy or strife between you and another, I can only suggest going to him and tell him honestly you'd like to remove that wall/barrier by starting off by reading this passage and then pray together to God, the Father of both of you. Two people who pray together should find it a little easier to forgive each other and "gain a brother," and thus gain a closer relationship with God. I hope this helps and Blessings to you. 14 | Bible ... be “a doubting Thomas."? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Country Girl | 133110
Generally, we should always strive to obey ALL of God's commands, including those by clear direction as in James 5 or by examples throughout the NT, whenever it's within our power to do so. I praise God that He saw fit to include this story about Thomas' doubt for it means Christ really was ressurected in bodily form. So once again, the Bible really does deliver what God's Word should and that is solid reasons to believe in God and His Desire to have us come join Him in Heaven is real. Now the tough part for us here on earth is to figure out what's NOT real. I would have to definitely include those deceptive acts called miracles by those doing the deceiving when those miracles DON'T meet the high standards as set forth in God's Word. But this kind of determination is a rather personal one but we can encourage one another to stay true to His Word and use It as the standard for measuring such activities as we're directed in 1 John 4. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

15 | Humility is Foundational | Prov 22:4 | Country Girl | 132982
Whenever I think of this subject, my mind goes back to the night before Christ's betrayal and trial. He instituted the Lord's Supper and then did something truly amazing. He took a bowl of water and washed the feet of all His disciples, even those of Judas, His betrayer. This Perfect God of ours, about to go through the most gruesome and horrible way to die this planet has ever thought about and die for the sins of the whole world. He knew this would separate Him from His beloved Father, something He was definitely NOT looking forward to. And yet he performed one of the most lowly tasks performed by the lowliest servant in the household. That my friend was truly an incredible example of humility. If we could only imitate it and make it real and genuine in our lives. If we could only learn to serve our fellow man and not hope or expect something in return. Good job in digging up this quote. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

16 | Are miracles for today? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Country Girl | 132980
I suppose you've heard the expression "There's no such thing as a coincidence," especially for a christian. I'd be the last person in the world to put any limitations on God and His Magnificent Power to intervene in our lives literally in any way He sees fit. But on the other hand, the Bible very, very clearly teaches us as God's children to be cautious and "test the spirits." In areas that are highly questionable such as miracles manifested by human beings in today's world, again IMO, the Bible clearly teaches we should inspect and be "a doubting Thomas." As I've already mentioned, childbirth, healing of a cancer patient and all other events which simply CANNOT be explained by natural forces indeed are most likely examples of miracles. BUT they are directly manifested from and by God directly to the recipient with no other third human person intervening. So again I would say since the Bible clearly teaches all this AND the "signs and wonders" from the first century were done to confirm the word, there's no reason to believe in miracles from or performed by human beings. BUT the most important thing I would encourage people to do in this regard is to compare miracles of today with miracles in the Bible. Those in our Bible were so great and magnificent that there was no question as to where they came from or Who was behind them. Also the Bible clearly teaches those performing miracles in the first century acquired that ability by ONLY one of two ways: 1) directly from the Holy Ghost as in Acts 2 and 10 or 2) from the Apostles laying their hands on them. Once those folks all died, that era ended in accordance with 1 Cor 13. It all fits together like a puzzle and thus one fact endorses the other. The "miracles" from human beings in today's are so inferior to the Biblical standard they're insulting to God Almighty and I shudder to think of such a person entering into Judgment without repenting of such deception. And yet, we should love them enough to approach them and try to help them climb out of their pit of self-deception. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
||||||
17 | Are miracles for today? | 1 Cor 13:8 | Country Girl | 132925
I can only counter with what I know to be truth. Wife abuse, drunkedness and drug addiction can all be corrected (cured if you prefer) WITHOUT guidance from God's Word, just some good guidance which I'll admit is usually based on Biblical principles but the focus is NOT Christ as Lord or God as a the Perfect Forgiver. Similarly a human being can about God's Word and respond in a very reasonable manner and simply obey His commands and become His child for the rest of his/her life. Clearly most people would agree No Miracle there. But let's stick to the Bible for true pictures of God actuated miracles. I'm emphasizing events so supernatural that the whole world (or at least the majority) would agree that it could not have happened without a supernatural being from some other sphere of life not know on earth. That's the real essense of a Bible time miracle so again I say miracles are suggestive of God's actual physical and visible blessing on such an event. That's why we can't let anyone downgrade this definition. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

19 | why was the thief saved without baptism? | Luke 23:43 | Country Girl | 132877
Have you ever thought about...Why is there so much controversy on this subject? Good, conscientious, serious Bible students like you and me and all the others have studied this subject quite literally all our lives. I've read your profile so you and I are about the same age and yet we have such divergent views on this subject. To me, it seems like the devil is laughing his head off and enjoying all the strife and turmoil on this subject and all the many other controversies since the start of the apostacy. In spite of it all AND knowing this apostacy was coming, our Lord prayed for unity and for His children, us, you and me to agree on these kinds of matters. How sad? How truly very sad? Such good, devoted Bible students can't come to agreement on this rather simple subject IMO. Someone posts a question and I respond with my interpretation or you beat me to it and respond with yours. And the devil makes out like a bandit. How truly sad? I can only continue to encourage everyone reading this to study the whole Bible and make a decision that you can defend on Judgment Day because we'll be judged by ALL the words we read therein. Blessings to all who study and obey God's Word. Country Girl |

Ah, yes! The famous "one another" passages. I've studied most of these all my life but I've never seen them listed in such a comprehensive manner as this. I'll have to save a copy of this and put them into my Bible pocket for reference. Thanks a bunch. By the way, I agree 100 percent. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
