1 | Baptism not necessary to be saved | Acts | 4givn | 92923
Thanks. You have made a good point. I guess I am just amazed how some people interpret scripture, especially in light of what is right there in front of someone!
2 | Sleep speaking in tongues? | Acts | 4givn | 92277
What do you think it means, and what scriptural reference describes this experience?
3 | Sleep speaking in tongues? | Acts | 4givn | 92276
Thanks Hank for your input, but it was not a dream. At least I think not. It seemed to have been an activity of some sort that I was doing in my sleep and I became aware of it as I was waking up. I felt totally confident that I had been speaking some strange language that was God's word, and it was somehow involved in spiritual warfare for my benefit. Maybe it was a dream, but in either case, I would like it's interpretation.
4 | Sleep speaking in tongues? | Acts | 4givn | 92275
There was absolutely no "fear or darkness". I had a confident assurance that whatever was happening was of God and for my good. I just don't know what it was all about or what it meant. I am also sure it was not a dream. Thanks.
5 | Tares/wheat | John 3:3 | 4givn | 91664
It's ok, Ken. No problem.
6 | Tares/wheat | John 3:3 | 4givn | 91642
My name is Dave, and I am not asking you to answer to me in any way. I am sorry if I have offended you in any way. That surely was not my intention. As far as I was concerned, we were engaged in a friendly dialogue and then all of a sudden you seem to get an attitude. Also, I don't understand what you meant by the "tree". |

7 | Knocked out by holy spirit | Matt 16:6 | 4givn | 90698
They are referring, I think, to 1 Pe 2:24, but I believe they may be taking it out of context, since the same passage refers to us having died to sins and living by righteousness. I think the healing mentioned here is referring to a "spiritual" healing. After all, the atonement makes us "whole", since now in God's eyes He sees only what Christ did for us on the cross, and not the awful ugliness of our sin.

Thank you for the thoughtful and insightful reply. Your response has blessed me and given me much to ponder. I suppose I have know all along the "tactics" of the enemy that the Apostle Peter mentioned. The main one, for me, I suppose has been a "condemning spirit". I think another has been to doubt my salvation, even though I have been through this eternal security thing enough to know better. I believe John 5:24 with all my heart, but it's easy to get tripped on it it if I have allowed anything unholy into my life, and then have the Lord graciously help me root it out after much conviction and sorrow of spirit. I think I know I have really "grieved the Spirit of God" at various times and in various ways. And also have "quenched the Spirit". Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!

Thanks. I think one of the main things that keeps me from witnessing alot is a past chock full of hypocrisy and back-sliding, filled with conviction and sorrow, and eventually embraced by true repentance. Through all that, I feel somewhat at a loss to witness to others when alot of my life has been full of compromise. It truly can be a miserable existence. The older I get, however, the more gracious God seems to be to me to let me understand that I don't have to feel condemned by my past, but I do have to do something about the present. And that something is trying to live by the light that has been revealed to me.

11 | Why would God do that? | Gen 2:7 | 4givn | 89678
It's ok. You don't know me right now, but maybe one day on the other side we'll remember this time in our lives and be able to lovingly and innocently ask God "why". And maybe that was your whoile intent all along?
12 | Why would God do that? | Gen 2:7 | 4givn | 89674
I'm sorry you perceived me as "attacking". I only try to speak what I know God's word says. My own thoughts or "opinions" are not of much consequence. The Lord jesus Himself even said that He did not speak on His own authority, only what the Father revealed to Him.
13 | Why would God do that? | Gen 2:7 | 4givn | 89673
That's right. I was not "attacking". I wonder why, though, that he perceived it that way.
14 | Is God omnipotent? | John 3:16 | 4givn | 89518
"Spiritually" dead. | ||||||
15 | Why would God do that? | Gen 2:7 | 4givn | 89516
His thoughts are higher than our our thoughts. His ways are higher than our ways. We can not possibly begin to intellectualize why God would or would not do a certain thing based on our own finite minds and our limited perspective. We must be careful not to "judge" God for what He does. When we do not accept by faith ALL that He has said and done, then where do we draw the line for ANY of it? Do we then get to pick and choose?
16 | Sealed and then Resealed? | John | 4givn | 89135
Isn't it such a blessing to KNOW!!! Amen!!!
