1 | Is sacrifice requirement to christianity | Bible general Archive 3 | hobbs | 171586
Ah! theres the rub. I view all para church organizations with trepidation. I believe that they may be good-hearted and well intentioned, but unscriptural. Scripture alone should be our rule, and we must measure everything we say and do by God's Word. It is my prayer that God will be pleased to send us a new reformation. One that restores the gospel to the church and opens our eyes to the fruitless schemes of men who think that human institutions and organizations please and glorify our God. They do not! "No one doubts that many have been greatly blessed as a result of the parachurch. But in light of the testimony of the Scriptures to the sufficiency, function, efficacy, promises, gifts, offices, endurance, position, and potency of the church, one must wonder seriously why there even exists such an entity as the parachurch. What is needed beside the church?" I recommend the article from which the above quotation is it's closing statement. http://www.credenda.org/issues/15-3doctrine101.php |

2 | Does child die for fathers sin? | Bible general Archive 3 | hobbs | 174421
Welcome Lady! Although I understand your distress regarding the death of the infant, I must disagree with the paralells you drew that might show a pre-figureing of the child with birth and death of Christ. David's child was not sinless, but was born (as are all the decendents of Adam) bearing the stain of "original sin". God established His covenant with the people of Israel not it's king. David was not the federal head of the people as the first Adam was for all his seed. Christ, the 2nd and "Last Adam" is the federal head for all "His people" (spiritual seed). Our comfort comes from the knowledge that the death of this child was ordained by a loving God who always does that which is good in His sight. God Bless, Hobbs |

3 | They are married,is it sin to have oral? | Bible general Archive 3 | hobbs | 185186
Dear John, I don't believe that you counsel married couples who are past the age for having children to refrain from copulation. Would you? The delight of the marriage bed is well documented in Song Of Songs Song 1:1 The Song of Songs, which is Solomon's. Song 1:2 "May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine. Song 1:3 "Your oils have a pleasing fragrance, Your name is like purified oil; Therefore the maidens love you. Song 1:4 "Draw me after you and let us run together! The king has brought me into his chambers." "We will rejoice in you and be glad; We will extol your love more than wine. Rightly do they love you." |

Do Not Pass Judgment on One Another 14:1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. 2 One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3 Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. 4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master [1] that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. 5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. 9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. 10 Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11 for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess [2] to God.” 12 So then each of us will give an account of himself to God. |

Please do't take it personly John. I was simply laying down a scripturaly founded principle that I thought would give us all some scriptual meat to chew on. Do you think Romans 14 is applicable to our conversation? |

You have said, "You cannot choose God". If this is the case, then please explain, "choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve", as in the verse below? Jos 24:15 "And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." Are you suggesting that God speaking through Joshua is asking the people to do what God knows full well they cannot do? ------------------------------------------------- "If it seems evil to you to serve the Lord...". Funny, but I have never noticed the signifcance of that particular phrase until now! I wonder how many unsaved people today consider it "evil" to trust Christ? Would'nt it be astounding to hear such a statement used in the presetation of the Gospel! Joshua does'nt even attempt to persuade them otherwise. He just tells them ... "Worship whatever you will if you believe that God is not an appropriate object of your love and reverence. Me and mine believe that God is Holy and we will worship Him." The choice Joshua is offering the people (in v. 15) is a choice between two sets of pagan dieties. I don't see this as a firm foudation for the establishment of so-called "free-will". Hobbs |

Dear Edwin, Thanks for your reply. There is nothing more important than getting to the truth of God's Word. I heatily agree that Enoch, Noah and Job were men who desired to serve God. The question is: Did their desire for God emerge out of their own hearts or had they recieved these desires by the grace of God. From my reading of the Bible, I am firmly convinced that, apart from God's grace, Enoch would not have walked with God; Job would have taken his wife's advice and no one would have survived the flood! Now, why do I believe that what I have just said is true. Allow me to list just two verses for starts. Rom 3:10 as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; Rom 3:11 THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; Hobbs |

Dear Edwin, You asked "But what about the four words that immediately precede your Scripture quotation, namely Rom 3:10" As it is written": Well..if it had'nt been written, it would'nt be Scripture. The fact that the verse is from the Old Testament is irrevelant. What is revalent is the context in which Paul brought his evidence. 2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; If Paul thought vers 4 meant that David was limiting the extent of man's wickedness, he would not have offered it as evidence. I think it would be helpful for ust to return to the Topic, which Is PREDESTINATION. Acts 4:25 who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David Your servant, said, 'WHY DID THE GENTILES RAGE, AND THE PEOPLES DEVISE FUTILE THINGS? Acts 4:26 'THE KINGS OF THE EARTH TOOK THEIR STAND, AND THE RULERS WERE GATHERED TOGETHER AGAINST THE LORD AND AGAINST HIS CHRIST.' Acts 4:27 "For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, Acts 4:28 to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur. Where would be without the inspiration of the Holy Spirit? Webster's defines inspration as: a divine influence or action on a person believed to qualify him or her to receive and communicate sacred revelation. Of course, To God be the glory, but we recieve the joy of knowing that we have been used by Him to further the truth of the Gospel. Is't that why we get up in the morning? PS have you considered updating your profile? It's friendly thing to do. Hobbs |

Rom 9:22 What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? 2 Rom 9:23 And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, Hi Mark, I see the in the story of Cornelius, a lump of clay which is being prepared for Glory, and not a reprobate whom God is administering just enough grace to make a free will decision when the Gospel shall be presented to Him. which He prepared beforehand for glory, In other words Cornelius was one of those which were being "prepared beforehand for glory," That is He was one of God's elect.
