1 | No, the dead are still DEAD...not alive! | Bible general Archive 1 | goodnewsminister | 85484
No consciousness in the grave Many people are surprised to discover what the Bible really says about what happens to us when we die. Notice what God inspired King Solomon to write about the state of the dead: "For the living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten" (Ecclesiastes 9:5). Scripture clearly tells us that at death we cease to know anything. The dead are unconscious and unaware. All our emotions, thoughts, knowledge and feelings go to the grave with us. No consciousness continues living in another place or state. We do not have an immortal soul that goes on living somewhere else. In Ezekiel 18, verses 4 and 20, God plainly tells us that "the soul who sins shall die"—not continue living apart from the body. To teach otherwise is only to further the FIRST LIE of Satan to our Mother Eve, "YE SHALL NOT SURELY DIE"! Do you believe him, or the Lord? You must choose! The patriarch Job echoes Solomon's words. He writes: "Man dies and is laid away; indeed he breathes his last and where is he? As water disappears from the sea, and a river becomes parched and dries up, so man lies down and does not rise. Till the heavens are no more, they will not awake nor be roused from their sleep" (Job 14:10-12). Job goes on to ask the most crucial question about life after death: "If a man dies, shall he live again?" (verse 14). Death likened to sleep When Christians—or any others—die, they do not go directly to heaven or to any equivalent of heaven. Their bodies simply decay in the grave, returning to the dust from which they were made (Genesis 3:19). Solomon confirmed the fact that the dead are unconscious, knowing nothing. "Anyone who is among the living has hope—even a live dog is better off than a dead lion! For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing" (Ecclesiastes 9:4-5, NIV). The writers of the Bible describe our experience after death not as going to heaven or hell, but simply as sleep. Notice, for example, how Daniel refers to the state of the dead in this prophecy of the resurrection: "And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt" (Daniel 12:2). When an individual is in a deep sleep, he has absolutely no conscious awareness of the passing of time nor any knowledge of events that are occurring while he is asleep. Paul repeatedly compared death to sleep (1 Corinthians 11:30; 15:6, 18, 20, 51; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-15). Peter similarly writes of the patriarchs who "fell asleep" in death (2 Peter 3:4). Jesus Himself also spoke of death as sleep. Speaking of a deceased girl whom He intended to raise from the dead, He told the mourners, "Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping" (Luke 8:52; compare Matthew 9:24). Before He resurrected Lazarus, He told the disciples, "Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up." The disciples misunderstood, thinking Lazarus was sleeping because he was ill. "However, Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about taking rest in sleep" (John 11:11, 13). When will the dead be resurrected? We can see that the Bible clearly teaches that good people don't go to heaven at death; instead they sleep in the grave awaiting the resurrection of the dead. All of the dead —good and not so good alike—will eventually be resurrected, each in his own time (1 Corinthians 15:20-23). The dead in Christ will be resurrected to immortal life at Jesus Christ's return to earth, and those faithful servants who are still alive at that time will be changed from mortal to immortal. Specifically, this happens at the sounding of "the trumpet of God" (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17), called "the last trumpet" in 1 Corinthians 15:52 and corresponding to the seventh trumpet of Revelation 11:15. This event is called "the first resurrection" in Revelation 20:5. In John's vision of the future, those in this resurrection came to life and "reigned with Christ for a thousand years" (verse 4), during the period commonly known as the Millennium. Notice that they do not go to dwell in heaven—they live and reign with Jesus on earth, to which He has returned to establish God's Kingdom! Verse 6 goes on to explain: "Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years." Revelation 5:10 confirms that they will be "a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth" (NIV) Since Christ is coming back to earth (Zechariah 14:3-4), it makes good sense that that's where we will be. (John 14:3; compare Isaiah 11:1-9). Clearly, Jesus is coming back to earth and we will reign with Him here, not in or from heaven. |

Dear Matt, I couldn't agree with you more, and I also wish for you to know that the Scriptures agree with you as well! Yes, the DEAD are truly dead, not alive in some other form, DEATH is our ENEMY, robbing us of conscieness and life, not a FRIEND or a DOOR to the next life...let us review some history here about this view: The History of the Immortal-soul Teaching Several times we have mentioned the words immortal soul, but the phrase is found nowhere in the Bible. Where did the idea of an immortal soul originate? The concept of the soul’s supposed immortality was first taught in ancient Egypt and Babylon. “The belief that the soul continues in existence after the dissolution of the body is . . . speculation . . . nowhere expressly taught in Holy Scripture . . . The belief in the immortality of the soul came to the Jews from contact with Greek thought and chiefly through the philosophy of Plato, its principal exponent, who was led to it through Orphic and Eleusinian mysteries in which Babylonian and Egyptian views were strangely blended” (Jewish Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls, New York, 1941, Vol. VI, “Immortality of the Soul,” pp. 564, 566). Plato, the Greek philosopher who lived 428-348 B.C., as a student of Socrates taught that the body and an “immortal soul” separate at death. The International Standard Bible Encyclopaedia comments on ancient Israel’s view of the soul: “. . . We are influenced always more or less by the Greek, Platonic idea, that the body dies, yet the soul is immortal. Such an idea is utterly contrary to the Israelite consciousness, and it is nowhere found in the [Old Testament]” (Eerdmans, Grand Rapids, 1956, Vol. II, “Death,” p. 812). Early Christianity was influenced by Greek philosophies even as the gospel of Christ was preached to the Greek and Roman world. By A.D. 200 the doctrine of the immortality of the soul became a controversy in the established church. The Evangelical Dictionary of Theology notes how Origen, an early and influential church theologian, was influenced by Greek thinkers: “Speculation about the soul in the subapostolic church was heavily influenced by Greek philosophy. This is seen in Origen’s acceptance of Plato’s doctrine of the preexistence of the soul as pure mind (nous) originally, which, by reason of its fall from God, cooled down to soul (psyche) when it lost its participation in the divine fire by looking earthward” (Baker Book House, Grand Rapids, 1992, p. 1037, “Soul”). Secular history reveals that the concept of the immortality of the soul is an ancient belief embraced by many pagan religions. But it is not a biblical, Hebrew or apostolic teaching. For further information about this, I recommend you visit the following sites: http://www.ucg.org http://www.lcg.org Although these churches both are Sabbath-keeping churches, they have more truth than the vast majority of Churchianity that promotes such pagan ideas as immortal soul and eternal torment for the wicked. |

No, I'm not Brother Aust, but I am sure he does not mind me using his writings to spread the Truth. We do not work for acknowledgement in all that we do, the Truth is FREE, we buy it and sell it for free. We work for the Lord and not for the acknowledgement of men. I will note where I quote from in the future, if this is your desire. |

Amen Brother Matt as God calls things from His point of view and as He sees the end from the beginning, all those in their Memorial tombs shall come forth, as Jesus said in John 5:28,29 and thus they are very much alive in His mind. Matt, what church or fellowship group do you associate with? What are your thoughts on the Trinity? Here are mine: Jehovah—And Jesus, Two Separate Beings. Question (1972)—Some claim that Jesus is Jehovah, that they are the same person, or being, under two different names. Is this correct according to the Scriptures? Answer.—No. Many Scriptures teach to the contrary, and show clearly that Jehovah and Jesus are two separate and distinct persons, or beings. Note, for instance, Psa. 110: 1, which clearly demonstrates that Jesus is not Jehovah: “The Lord [the Tetragrammaton (JHVH, or YHWH), used here, refers to Jehovah] said unto my [David’s] Lord [Hebrew, adon, not Jehovah, but His Son], Sit thou at my [Jehovah’s] right hand, until I [Jehovah] make thine [Jesus’] enemies thy footstool.” Here they are clearly distinguished from each other, and our Lord Jesus is shown not to be Jehovah. Note also Isa. 6: 1, 3, 5, 8, 11, 12, which verses treat of our Lord Jesus and of Jehovah as separate and distinct beings. In vs. 1, 8 and 11, our Lord Jesus is referred to by the Hebrew designation Adonai, which is indicated to English readers as such, in the KJV, the RSV, etc., by it being translated by the title “Lord” written with only the initial letter capitalized. But in vs. 3, 5, 12, JHVH, or YHWH, i.e., Jehovah, is the Hebrew word, as indicated in the KJV, the RSV, etc., by its translation Lord written entirely in capitals. Both Jehovah and Jesus are in v. 8 indicated by the word “us” in the prehuman Jesus’ question, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” The fact that these two designations Adonai and JHVH are used in Isa. 6, the former to designate Jesus and the latter to designate Jehovah, clearly proves that Jesus is not Jehovah. Jesus is here shown to be Jehovah’s Vicegerent, not Jehovah Himself. In many other places Jesus is clearly distinguished from Jehovah, and is thus manifestly proven not to be Jehovah. For example: Jesus is the Servant of Jehovah, not Jehovah Himself (Isa. 42: 1, 6, 19; 52: 13; 53: 11). He is Jehovah’s Arm, Agent, not Jehovah Himself (Isa. 53: 1). He is Jehovah’s Son, not Jehovah Himself (Psa. 89: 27; 2: 7, 12, compare with Acts 13: 33; Heb. 1: 5; 5: 5). He is Jehovah’s Angel, not Jehovah Himself (Gen. 22: 11, 15; Ex. 3: 2; Num. 22: 22-27, 31, 34, 35; Psa. 34: 7). He is Jehovah’s Companion, not Jehovah Himself (Zech. 13: 7; Prov. 8: 30). The above Scriptures, together with many others, clearly prove that the name Jehovah belongs exclusively to the Most High God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and should never be applied to Jesus, the Son of Jehovah. ’72-94; ’94-93 |

[...continue from first part...]So the world's concept of "hell" is admittedly a product of centuries of MAN'S THINKING on the great problem of reward and punishment which man associates with human deeds. It did NOT COME AS A REVELATION FROM GOD, but is rather the product of MAN'S THINKING -- using HUMAN REASON to decide what ONLY GOD CAN REVEAL! What About the Millions of Heathen? Now, before we examine to see whether man's idea of hell is TRUE, let us consider where this concept of hell, if true, leads us! On this earth there are more than three billion people! The most populous lands are China, India, and other parts of Asia, and in spite of missionaries from the West, actually MORE THAN HALF of all the people on the earth have NEVER SO MUCH AS HEARD THE ONLY NAME BY WHICH MEN MAY BE SAVED -- the name of JESUS CHRIST! For your Bible says, "... there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). This means that BILLIONS of people here on this earth have lived, and DIED, without having known anything about Christian salvation -- without SAVING KNOWLEDGE -- neither having heard the ONLY name by which men may be saved! Now think what that means. If all UNsaved have gone immediately to hell at death -- the hell commonly believed in -- then more THAN HALF the people who have ever lived on this earth have been consigned there without ever having been given so much as a CHANCE to escape it! They are ETERNALLY LOST IN TORMENTING "HELL FIRE"! Can you really believe THAT IS the plan by which an all-wise, all-merciful, LOVING GOD IS working out His purpose here below? WHAT IS THE TRUTH? We face these alternatives: Either the Holy Bible is the INSPIRED Word of God, by which the Creator REVEALS the TRUTH on this subject, or else we must fling up our hands and confess we JUST DON'T KNOW -- we are IGNORANT on the question -- because no one has ever COME BACK from such a hell to tell us about it. We must believe what the Bible says, or we can believe NOTHING, if we are rational and honest! IS there even such a thing as "hell fire"? What does the BIBLE say about it? Didn't Jesus say something about "hell fire"? Yes, He did! We are about ready for the actual lesson. But first, read these instructions. Before You Begin Is your Bible in front of you? If not, go GET YOUR BIBLE -- or Bibles if you have more than one translation. Also have several sheets of paper, and a pen, pencil or typewriter so that you can MAKE NOTES to help you in remembering what you learn. Remember -- you must open your Bible to EVERY PASSAGE. Never say to yourself, "Oh, I think I know what the scripture is referring to" -- and then pass over it. You need to KEEP YOUR NOSE IN THE BIBLE, SO to speak. You must READ and REREAD and STUDY EVERY PASSAGE in your Bible. Don't forget, this is a BIBLE STUDY COURSE -- not just a study of these lessons we send you. This lesson is intended to DIRECT YOU to the Bible -- to help you LEARN the TRUTH of God's Word. Now with your Bible, a good dictionary, and concordance, if you have one, and your stationery all in front of you, here is the METHOD of study. Write down neatly on your paper the lesson TITLE. Next write down the lesson number. As you come to each question section, write down ITS HEADING. Then, at the lefthand margin, print the NUMBER OF EACH QUESTION as you come to it, and WRITE DOWN THE BIBLE ANSWERS, together with any PERTINENT IDEAS that may come to your mind. Be sure to WRITE OUT THE SCRIPTURE which answers each question. Writing the answers and any comments you wish to make as you go along WILL HELP YOU GREATLY IN REVIEWING AND REMEMBERING WHAT YOU LEARN. Now we are ready to begin this lesson. Awaiting your responce on whether you wish to continue this lesson or not...I surely hope you're sincere, as God desireth those that are such to worship Him... Yours for the Good News, The Good News Minister |

Dear Friends, The Bible does not teach that we exist away from our bodies once we die, Plato taught this, and he was a pagan. The Devil taught this to Mother Eve saying," Thou shalt NOT SURELY DIE." Death is the wages of sin as Romans 6:23 states, but the Gift of God- that we all need- is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Don't be fooled by 'carm', they are an anti-cult group that are under the deception of the Adversary and they have fallen prey to Plato's philosophies, rather than read and understood God's inspired Word, the Bible. Grace to you all, The Good News Minister |

Dear Justme, I am neither 7th day, nor JW, nor HWA follower, I am follower of Jesus Christ and I worship and bow my knee to Him and the Father, from whom all life flows. May I likewise pose you the same questions: What if you are wrong? And at the judgement, you've found out that you've blasphemed God's character and Good name all these years by your teaching? What do you think He'll do with you? I am thoroughly convinced and persuaded that the understanding I have of the Truth is not just some 'theology', but the very knowledge of God, His character attributes, which their are primarily four, Love-Justice-Wisdom-Power and all four of these operate harmoniously. I also know that God is not a hypocrite, He would not tell ancient Israel to not burn their children in the fire to the god Molech, yet at the same time have a plan for burning His own offspring in eternal fire. I do believe as Jesus said, no one gets into the Kingdom of God but BY HIM! Precisely! Acts 4:12, for there is NO OTHER NAME given among men wherebe we MUST be saved! I do not reject Jesus Christ, I do reject 'another Jesus', 'another gospel', and 'another spirit', a spirit of evil that caused countless non-trinitarians to be burned at the stake for rejecting the erroneous doctrine of the Triune God. Such great and noble men as Miguel Servetus, who wrote the book "Errors of the Trinity" who was burned at the stake by John Calvin during the Reformation years. Orthodox views come from the wild beast of Revelation, the Roman church who has names of blasphemy written all over her forehead, and from her came all the protestant denominations that exist today and although they are sincere people, and sincerely wrong, I do love them and pity them for the Lord's sake and I do what I can to love them to the Turth of the Word of God. I dislike or hate no one. These are my thoughts. However, what is important are His thoughts, and not mine. What does the Bible say? Read Genesis 2:7 that tells us what we are: "And the Lord God formed man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man BECAME a living soul." We BECAME living souls, the Bible does not say that we have souls, or that we were given souls, it clearly states that we BECAME souls or nephesh or living creature, air-breathing creatures. I wish you a clearer understanding of His word. May His peace be yours today is my prayer and may His Truth be yours thereby: The Good News Minister! Preaching against the BAD News that most 'angels of light' preach today and standing firmly upon the promises of God's word that in the coming age, the 'knowledge of the Lord shall cover the earth as the waters cover the sea'. |

Dear Emmaus, You've got to be kidding me? You mean to tell me that you take literally the words found in these verses? Come on now, tell me it ain't so? The Book of Revelation is a book of SYMBOLS and is therefore not to be taken literally...Revelation 1 1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [SIGNIFIED IT or SYMBOLIZED] it by his angel unto his servant John: These 'souls of those who had been slain' were no more alive than was the 'blood of righteous Abel' that cried out for vengence to God...these verses are not to be taken literally, in fact, these verse say exactly what God meant them to say, that the 'souls' or the lives that these people lived DEMANDED JUSTICE, such as Abel's fine example and his righteous life, DEMANDED JUSTICE be brought upon Cain for slaying him and thus it is with these faithful followers of the Lord...their 'lives' or 'souls' DEMANDS that they be avenged by God from their adversaries or those that killed them.Genesis 4 8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. 9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? 10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. Do you mean to tell me that Abel's blood literally cried out to God from the ground? Surely not! And in the same way these 'souls' that John sees in vision are not literal people, but the testimony of these peoples righteous lives that DEMANDS justice on their behalf. So, no, the Apostle John did not agree with Plato's heresy and neither do the Scriptures agree with you mislead conclusions. May He grant you spiritual insight is my prayer for you. Dear Justme, I appreciate your understanding. Yes, I do not believe in a fiery hell where God torments souls for all eternity. Neither do I believe in a Triune God, three in one. I believe that God the Father created Jesus Christ and through Him created all things that we now see in the material world. Yes, you are correct on my positions. I am not here to disrespect anyone, nor do I show unkindness to anyone. If in a post I get excited, it's because of the passion of my message and not so that I am trying to be offensive to you or others listening. The Truth is so precious and it's not worth arguing over because that would violate the spirit of the Truth, the Holy Spirit would be silenced and neither of us would learn anything. I love all of you and I realize and understand that you do not have to agree with me to be a true Christian, I just realize that God has lead us on different paths and I believe that I have more light than most of you, but this is not to your shame, it's just God has not yet revealed to you what He has shown me and many others like me. I am confident that you and everyone on this forum will one day see 'eye to eye' with me and that one day, you will believe as I do, for in the Kingdom of God, there will be only ONE RELIGION, and I believe that to be called "THE TRUTH", and so I have no urge to offend because all will eventually agree with each other in the end and whatever errors I may have, God will correct them as well. However, I am willing to hear your side of the story, but having been an associate pastor of a Baptist church and having been a former Missionary Baptist Church ordained minister, I am well-versed in the dogma of the Baptist faith, so I'm not sure that you could share anything with me that I do not already know. However, I am open ears, who knows, God may just speak to me through you. I used to believe in the Trinity and Hellfire and damnation and very much so, so I believe that God has removed me from the darkness and given me the light of His Word, the Truth, so I am not offended by those who call me names, as I know that I am not better off than my Master, Who likewise was spat upon and called names and crucified. Dear Friend, How true! Yes, that is an EXAMPLE that we should ALL FOLLOW. And yes, most of those who believe in the doctrines of eternal torment in hellfire and in the Trinity DO NOT follow that example set by our Berean Brethren. They simply DO NOT search the Scriptures, but they tend to take every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of their preacher, vice 'every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God' as Jesus said we should live by every word out of His mouth. If they would follow this fine example set by the Bereans, they would quickly see that God has never created a place for anyone, including the Devil, to be eternally tormented as they would know that God's JUSTICE is just that, JUSTICE and it will not exact a more stringent penalty than what is deserved. Most Christians believe that God's JUSTICE is 'JUST-US', or just those that believe, this too is untrue. They would also recognize that Jesus, having DIED for our sins, and thus paying the wages of sin, i.e. DEATH...He being perfect and without sin took our DEATH in His body on the tree so that we might have life again IN HIM. If eternal torment in hellfire were the penalty for sin, then we're all lost in our sins as Jesus never paid such a price for our redemption. He DIED for the ungodly, and thus took our place in DEATH, not in Hell. If Hell were eternal, then our Savior would have to suffer eternal torment in order to REDEEM or RANSOM us from such a penalty. I, along with the Bible, declare that our Savior PAID the PENALTY for Sin, namely, the DEATH [Romans 6:23] penalty. He did not and is not currently roasting in hellfire, and this is positive proof that NO SUCH PENALTY for sin ever existed. "Prove all things, hold fast that which is true." - 1 Thess. 5:21 "STUDY to show thyself APPROVED..."- 2 Tim. 2:15 Yes, this is GOOD ADVICE for those who do not yet know the GOOD NEWS and also for those of us who do, this is faith-strengthening! Thank you for sharing this post. The Good News Minister |

No, my Friend, I have listened to you and I have already proven all things that I know that the Trinity is a gross error in teaching and that God is ONE GOD, not three in one or a triad. You ask if I am listening to you without prejudice, the question is, are you? I have been where you are at now, and by your actions you prove that you do not believe in the hellfire that you claim to believe in, as you're not out door-to-door desiring to convert people to Christ. What amazes me most is that the JW's are out day-by-day knocking on doors to win people to Christ and they don't believe in an eternal place of torment, and I am amazed by their zeal and I appreciate the work that they are doing, because inadvertantly, they're spreading the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and most of the basic truths that the Bible teaches, such as no immortal soul, no trinity and no hellfire, so they're actually doing the work of God, although the way they're set up is cultic, but people would learn more truth by listening to the JWs than they ever would from a Baptist, Methodist or any mainline denominational preacher who does not even know what the Gospel of the Kingdom IS, must less know what the Truth on the other subject are. I am sorry friend, the Bereans 'searched the Scriptures' to find out if what Paul was saying was true or not. Yes, they listened, but they didn't believe what Paul said until they checked it out against the Bible. I am not 'arguing' with you, Friend, you're just upset because I'm not just another Christian who takes what you say for granted, I KNOW what the Scriptures teach, both the Old and the New Testaments, and I am not fooled by your deceptions, so you have no reason to be upset with me. I am searching the Scriptures when I am presented some to search, but as of yet, you've only supplied 'proof texts' and ones I've already gotten a clear understanding on, so I hope you'll do the same with my posts, are YOU listening to what the Scriptures say to you? No, you're not, for you cannot, God has not chosen to open your ears yet, so you cannot hear what the Spirit saith to the churches until He does open your ears to hear, and thus, I cannot nor am I trying to force my beliefs upon you, I'm sharing with you the wonderful GOOD NEWS of the TRUE GOSPEL and it's up to you to do your own research, vice, quoting from CARM and relying on them for your beliefs. Yes, I quote from other websites too, but I've searched out their beliefs and I know that what they're teaching is true and I've also presented my own original thoughts on these verses. I bid thee well, my Friend, I love you with your mistaken beliefs and all and inspite of them. I am here to help you see the LIGHT of Truth from the Bible, if you're wishing to learn it. If you're satisfied with what you have, then fine with me. God's not trying to convert the world now, and neither am I. You'll believe as I do now in the coming Kingdom, when you will be FORCED to learn the Truth, then you will believe it as I do now. Til then, Christian love and greetings to you and your fellow worshippers at your church that you attend. In Him, The Good News Minister! http://www.cmfellowship.org |

Dear CurtMan, I appreciate your remarks. Whether your upset with me or not is of no consequence to me, as I love you regardless of your mislead beliefs. I appreciate that you're sadden by my beliefs, I appreciate your loving concern for me. I look at you as a cherish brother in the Lord, one with whom I may become 'friends' as it were, if you wish, but I will not force myself upon you. Here something for you to think about:"The New World Translation is an incredibly biased translation" Reasoning from the Scriptures with the Jehovah's Witnesses by Ron Rhodes "It is no more 'full of heresies' than any other translation" Bible Translations and how to choose between them by Alan S. Duthie In the verse preceding his statement, Ron Rhodes says that the NWT rendering of Hebrews 1:8 is unacceptable. Mr. Rhodes likes the New International Version(NIV) and the New American Standard Version(NASB). Hebrews 1:8 says in the NWT: "But with reference to the Son: 'God is your throne forever and ever, and [the] scepter of your kingdom is the scepter of uprightness." The NASB says: "But of the Son he says, THY THRONE O GOD IS FOREVER AND EVER, AND THE RIGHTEOUS SCEPTER IS THE SCEPTER OF HIS KINGDOM." The NIV reads similarly. So which one is right? The NASB's translation reads like the Son is God, the NWT's does not. This scripture is quoting Psalms 45:6,7. What Mr Rhodes fails to mention in this regard is that Psalms here is referring to a human king, probably King Solomon. Was King Solomon "God"? NO! That is why the Revised Standard Version translates Psalms 45:6,7 as "Your divine throne endures forever and ever" which is different from the way it translated it for Hebrews 1:8. Who is biased now? Hebrews 1:8 equates Jesus(the Son) with King Solomon in Psalms. Both are subordinate to God, both are Kings. The Tanakh Holy Scriptures(the New Jewish Publication Society Translation translates Ps 45:7 as "Your -divine throne- is everlasting. and then it encourages the reader to read 1 Chronicles 29:23 which says: "Solomon successfully took over the throne of the LORD as king instead of his father." Solomon, like Jesus sits/sat on Jehovah's throne. So a little investigation will go a long way to uncover the truth behind attacks on the NWT. Ron Rhodes states that the NWT gets a "thumbs down" from legitimate bible scholars...What about John 1:1 in the NWT? Well, I will let Greek Scholar Jason BeDuhn from the Northern Arizona University answer this one: "The Greek phrase is theos en ho logos, which translated word for word is "a god was the word." Still Prefer the New International Version's Rendering of John 1:1? In 1976 "A Linguistic Key To The Greek New Testament" was released by Fritz Rienecker, "Translated with additions and revisions, from the German SPRACHLICHER SCHLUESSEL ZUM GRIECHISCHEN NEUEN TESTAMENT edited by Cleon L. Rogers Jr." ISBN 0-310-32050-X What do they say of John 1:1? "The word is without the article and is the predicate emphasizing quality, 'the word had the same nature as God'." Who published this? It was Zondervan Publishing House. The same people who bring you the New International Version. So let's put this canard to rest. What about the NWT Old Testament? Isreali Professor Benjamin Kedar: "Several years ago I quoted the so-called New World Translation among several Bible versions in articles that deal with purely philological questions (such as the rendition of the causitive hiphil, of the participle qotel). In the course of my comparative studies I found the NWT rather illuminating: it gives evidence of an acute awareness of the structural characteristics of Hebrew as well as of an honest effort to faithfully render these in the target language. A translation is bound to be a compromise, and as such its details are open to criticism; this applies to the NWT too. In the portion corresponding the the Hebrew Bible, however, I have never come upon an obviously erroneous rendition which would find its explanation in a dogmatic bias. Repeatedly I have asked the antagonists of the Watchtower-Bible who turned to me for a clarification of my views, to name specific verses for a renewed scrutiny. This either was not done or else the verses submitted (e.g. Genesis 4:13; 6:3; 10:9; 15:5; 18:20; etc.) did not prove the point, namely, a tendentious translation." It should be pointed out that that Professor Kedar does not "feel sympathy for any sect and this includes Jehovah's Witnesses." [to be continued...] |

15 | The Rich Man and Lazarus... | Luke 16:23 | goodnewsminister | 85962
In answer to your questions, I provide the following: What is it teaching? It is teaching that the Jews- represented by the Rich Man- to whom were committed the 'oracles of God' has a special place in God's eyes, as Amos stated, "Thee and thee only have I known of all the nations of the earth." Israel had enjoyed special covenant favor from God for several centuries, hence the royalty attributed to the "Rich Man", also, the poor man, named Lazurus, signified the Gentile nations who were poor and were 'without hope and without God in the world'- This whole parable teaches us that a change was soon to come, soon, the End of Daniel's 70th week would come to an end in 36 A.D. and the Gospel, the New Covenant, would go to the Gentiles and the Jews- The Rich Man- would loose his covenant favor with God and Lazarus- the Gentile nations would then be in Abraham's Bosom, or under Covenant Favor- under the Great Abrahamic Covenant- 'in thee and THY SEED shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.' Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees and Sadducees as they were present, and we know this to be a parable, for it reads in Matthew 13 34 "These things all taken together Jesus said to the crowds in parables; indeed, without a parable He said nothing to them." Yes, and in Luke 16, the Pharisees are present and listening to Jesus' words as noted in these verses:14 Now the Pharisees, who were covetous and lovers of money, heard all these things [taken together], and they began to sneer at and ridicule and scoff at Him. 15But He said to them, You are the ones who declare yourselves just and upright before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted and highly thought of among men is detestable and abhorrent (an abomination) in the sight of God. [I Sam. 16:7; Prov. 21:2.] Yes, this was a PARABLE, dealing with the forthcoming Pouring out of the Holy Spirit on the Gentiles and their subsequently being 'grafted into' the 'tree' or house of Israel under the Abrahamic covenant. This is a PARABLE, speaking of an actual event to follow, namely, Israel's house being 'left to her desolate' and the calling of the Church going to the Gentile nations at the end of Daniel's 70th week, which ended in 36 A.D. I hope this helps. God bless, Good News Minister If hell fire is false and if self-awareness after death is also false, then Jesus is using false doctrines to teach a truth. Parables illustrate truth. If it is a parable what does the consciousness after death symbolize? Also, what does the agony in flame symbolize? Are they not real? |

16 | The Rich Man and Lazarus... | Luke 16:23 | goodnewsminister | 85996
Dear Friend, What Paul is saying here is that God hath not cast away His people forever, but that Romans 11 24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree? 25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: However, they were cast off as regards the Covenant, as Jesus hear indicates to us: Matthew 23:38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. (Whole Chapter: Matthew 23 In context: Matthew 23:37-39) Luke 13:35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. Yes, ALL Israel shall be SAVED by the New Covenant, but they shall not be a part of the Church, but shall be saved BY THE CHURCH - the SEED of Abraham- in it's coming Glory! Acts 15 13 And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me: 14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. 15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, Matthew 21 42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? 43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. Yes, the Lord took the prize of the High Calling and gave it to the Gentile nations, who would 'bring forth the fruits thereof.' |

Radioman, Jesus would never use 'false doctrines' to illustrate truth. Parables are just that, parabolic in nature, meaning that they have a different meaning from what is said. The Rich Man represented the Nation of Israel, the Jews, the ones who should have been the priestly class and co-rulers with Christ in His Kingdom. Lazarus represented us, all of us Gentiles who were 'without hope and without God in the world', yes, figuratively the Jewish nation 'died and in hell'- haven't they been through hell since they rejected Christ at His first coming? History attests to this, yes, they have! Look at WWII and the Holocaust, yes, they have been receiving of the Lord DOUBLE for all their sins. Yet, the Gospel has been abounding among the Gentiles, and although we try, they have been BLINDED BY GOD and therefore, cannot see the Truth in Jesus Christ. Let's not be so quick to accuse Jesus of 'false doctrine', if He is your Savior, as He is mine, then we should not make such comments as these. If anyone is wrong, it's one of us and not Him. 18 | Who will be saved? Few, Many or All? | Rom 3:23 | goodnewsminister | 88099
Yes, Nimrod2, when God's Son died on the cross, He paid the debt of Adam's sin, He died for only ONE PERSON, that being the person of Adam and thereby covered all of us in that ONE RANSOM price for Father Adam because we were ALL condemned by God in ONE MAN, Adam, so that the last Adam or the Second Adam could give up his perfect human life and blood as the ATONING sacrafice for Adam's sin and thus the entire human race was redeemed from Adamic death, the first hell, Hades or Sheol in Christ. However, this ATONEMENT does not gaurantee universal SALVATION from the Second Death, as salvation has been provided for from the FIRST or Adamic death by Christ, the Second Death, or Gehenna Hell fire, the Lake of Fire wherein wilfu sinners will be cast into to be burned up, it's a matter of choice on their part. God will force no one to truly convert, it will be up to that individuals on desires and character, as Satan will be loose out of the bottomless pit at the END of the 1,000 years to thus 'test' Christ's Redeemed humanity and those following Satan then will be destoryed in the Second Death, never to be resurrected again, and thus Christ will present the faithful of that Age, to the Father that God and Man may once again be in fellowship as they were in the Garden of Eden, when God could walk among men. Yes, not all will go to heaven, only those who are believers in this Age, the Gospel age, will have that privelege and this is why Timothy states that 'God is the Savior of ALL men, ESPECIALLY of those that believe' because we, the Church and Bride of Christ, have a SPECIAL HEAVENLY SALVATION that the rest of mankind WILL NOT have. Read the Promise of GOd given to Abraham, about his seed becoming as the 'stars of heaven'- representing the Heavenly Class or Church- and 'as the sand upon the sea shores'- representing the earthly or human class- the Restitutionists, those who will be restored to the perfect human image of God as found in Father Adam in the beginning. Hebrews 2:9 says that Christ 'tasted death for EVERY MAN' and this He did on the cross. 1 Tim. 2:5,6 says that Christ is a 'RANSOM FOR ALL', to be testified in DUE TIME, in the Millenial Kingdom when ALL will be resurrected from the FIRST DEATH, the first Hell, Hades, the grave of mankind to the general resurrection of the unjust. 1 Tim. 4:10 tells us that "God is the Savior of ALL MEN, especially of those that believe." Meaning that those of us who believe now will be partakers of the Divine nature and we will rule and reign with Christ during this coming Millenial Kingdom and help Him help mankind come up that 'highway of holiness' mentioned in Isaiah chapter 35. Yes, the future of our planet is as bright as are the promises of our God! Yes, God's Son paid the price for our sins in HIS OWN BODY on the tree! Praises be to His name! O what a Savior we have Who did not fail on us! In His Love I'll abide, resting peacefully in the Crucified, The Good News Minister! |

Dear Hank, I appreciate your comments. May I ask what your views on the questions asked are? I am sorry that you do not see anything Scriptural in the post, I assure you that it is very much Scriptural indeed. If you would like, I can post the Scriptures for most of what I put up there. Thank you. Greetings, The Good News Minister! |

1 Cor. 15:37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be [the body which you die with is not the same body that you're resurrected with] , but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: 38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. Yes, God gives to every person 'his own body' in the resurrection mentioned in John 5:28,29 39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. 40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. For those of us who believe in Christ and become members of His Body, the Church, we shall be raised immortal at the resurrection. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy Yes, those who are part of the RESTITUTION of ALL THINGS, will have RESTORED to them what was lost in Adam. Another text frequently misapplied to the world, which belongs to the Lord's consecrated people, says, "We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us." (2 Cor. 4:7) Here the Church alone is referred to--those who have received the treasure of the new mind, the new nature. They have this treasure, or new nature, in the natural body, which is reckoned as dead, and here denominated an "earthen vessel." The illustration is quite a correct one for the class to whom it is applied, the Church; but it is wholly incorrect to apply it to mankind in general, and to suppose that every human being has a heavenly treasure or new nature, and that thus every human body is an earthen vessel or receptacle for such new nature. The world has but one nature--the human nature: it has no new nature, either as a treasure or in any other sense; nor is there any promise that it will ever have. Quite to the contrary, the highest possible aspiration ever to be opened to humanity, according to the divine Word of promise, is "restitution"--to be restored to the full perfection of the human nature, lost in Eden, redeemed at Calvary. Acts 3:19-23 : and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. Yes, for those of us who are to become 'partakers' of the Divine Nature 2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Hebrews 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; [to be continued...] |
