1 | is it acceptable to date non-christians? | 2 Cor 6:14 | feli | 136317 | ||
to say it is unacceptable to date non-chrisitans is the place man made laws to protect scriptural ones. The Pharisees did that .They were so careful not to break Scriptural laws like the 10 commandments that they instituted a whole number of man made laws inorder to safe guard the 10 commandments. Later on when people broke these man made laws they were made to feel as if they actually broke scriptural laws whilst in fact they only breached the safeguards or fences built around the scriptural laws My learned opponents are saying that it is “unacceptable” to date NC. Whilst I can conceed that dating Non Christians may on some occasions, depending on the persons involved , involve some risk of romantic entanglement leading to being unequally yoked, however to categorically state that it is unacceptable is totally wrong. One may even go so far as to say that it is not advisable to date non-Christians given this small risk but we have no scriptural warrant for an absolute prohibition. If we do so then we are building another Pharisaic fence around 2 Cor 6:14. Breaking the fence however well intentioned or wise the fence may be is still not breaking the Law. Let us make that clear distinction. If we build this fence around 2 Cor 6:14 then we might as well go ahead and look at all the other commandments in Scripture and start building all sorts of fences around them as well and pretty soon we would all qualify to the hypocrital Pharisees that Jesus despised. We might as well we should not drive cars because cars kill people and Scripture prohibits the killing of people. |
